I may not agree with your take regarding the Bills and “The Process”, but I whole-heartedly agree with the intent to model the ability to have educated and contested debate without devolving into juvenile insults and childish antics.

I don't know how I often I could say this: but I couldn't disagree more with the OP if I woke up tomorrow morning with my head sewn to the carpet....(ok, a little holiday movie reference and confusing disagree with surprised, but eh it's Monday)..... Seriously though, you play to win....period. You play to win. As others have said already, you don't change the culture by doing more of the same....you change the culture by raising your level of expectation and then getting there. McD and co. have done a hell of a job to maximize what they've been given. There have been mistakes and missteps (and I still think starting Peterman was the right thing to do at the time - everyone has 20/20 hindsight) and he's still learning in some ways...but consider what's transpired: Sammy traded, Darby traded, Gilmore walked and Mike G. walked to Pats, Dareus traded, Yates (your Vet QB) cut, injuries to Benjamin since he arrived, Gaines off and on, your starting LT to be replaced admirably by the Rookie, your WLB put on 2nd string because your Rookie LB has played very well, your Drafted DB is in the legitimate running for DROY and has played very, very well - but is also still learning some things and he's shown that at times too - and you've gone through benching your starting QB because he fricken earned it, dealt with media backlash over decisions, gone from the highs of starting hot and ready to dismantle the Jets to being blown out for 3 games in a row and yet, here the team is on the cusp of the playoffs with 2 wins to go! So, sorry - I'm not saying McD is anywhere near perfect, but he's done a hell of a job considering what he was given. McVay gets all the love, but he already had STUDS on Defense when he took over the team and that's not his forte in terms of specialty, and then he had Goff waiting to be tutored and then traded for Watkins, plus had Gurley and took Woods in Off-season with a good run blocking Offense. So his cupboards were loaded with goodies, and he's delivered - good for him. Marrone in same boat and Lynn has done very well all things considered also, but without a doubt McD walked into the worst situation of all of them and is making a case for why he can be considered quite good already. FA players want to go to teams who are committed to winning....not those who think they've out smarted the NFL to "tank" and get the 1st overall pick, we've seen how that works. Good teams who Draft well get good players in every round, and yes that includes QB. I don't need to rattle off like 5 or 6 names in recent years, we know who they are....if a team can scout right and Draft right, it doesn't matter where in they are Drafting, as long as they understand value, projections, and where the player fits in the current systems. Beane and company haven't even had ONE, not ONE, Off-season to prepare for FA and the Draft and you're already dumping on the team for the NEXT 3-4 YEARS!! This, is the most Billsy type of pre-emptive disappointment I can think of that I've heard in a long time. Btw, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukhah, Happy Kwanza, Feliz Navidad and Happy Festivus....just in case.

As of today, I would really have to disagree. They're firing on all cylinders in terms of Offense and Defense.....to me, the ones not to be trusted are NE (simply because it really depends on which Brady shows up at this point being his inconsistencies unlike other years) and Baltimore which has seemed dominant in one game and then very beatable the next. Despite last night's outcome, to me the Steelers and the Jags have played more consistently football than the other winning teams thus far, in the AFC.

Kyle has been the embodiment of what we want from a football player: someone who maximizes every scintilla of talent to benefit the team, conduct himself professionally every single game on the field and consistently off the field, provides strong leadership, has excellent character, produces in game and continuously finds ways to give back to the fans and people of the community. He has been everything you could ever hope for in terms of the total package and for ALLLLLLL of that to come in the 5th round speaks volumes to what it means to view each pick of the Draft as truly potentially franchise development. A huge Thank You to Kyle Williams for all of the aforementioned attributes and contributions as player, a gentlemen, and community member.

Yeah I don’t see this as a demotion, his natural fit is in the slot. Next year there will another WR on the outside boundary and that will only help Zay.
-
Nah, I’m good...he can put it out there and I’ll just let time do the telling. For me? I’d rather there be information to debate than none at all...but thank you for your concern.
-
Pay no attention to those who seek to discredit your posts. Just put it out there and let time be your vindication. All good and thanks, keep ‘em coming.

Russ Brandon?
-
The issue is making it public is detrimental to the team, furthermore anyone he sends it to would need to have the same philosophy and responsibility to safe guard its revelations.
-
I’m hoping that if the Bills get just a 5th there’s a quality player in the mix as well.

Appreciate the clarification on “rift” as I was apparently declaring on deaf ears that “rift” by a couple of different definitions did NOT need to be severe or catrosphic but just a heated debate with an ability to reconcile after the fact. So, thanks for that...and the info.
-
I’m not disputing your information or asking for any validation, but presuming the info is accurate and results in the aforementioned action, it must be a pretty important player to give up their only other 3rd after they got Benjamin. Unless of course they trade Tyrod for a 3rd...?

My point was simply, the guy comes here to share what he reports as "inside information"....maybe it's not true...maybe it is....maybe he's a lonely Stephen Hawking who needs to feel important....regardless of the motivation, time will tell and since there's NO reason to believe it IS true, there's also NO reason to believe it isn't....so, just let time to do the testing and take it for "food for thought"....in the meantime, for someone to go out of their way and use their time essentially to set a ruse to try and prove a point or to discredit the man, it seems juvenile to me. Just take it how you'd like and let it go....discuss the thread, say you're doubtful, say you have a hard time believing it, but some posters have been disparaging in their comments and then for this scheme, I just don't get it....believe him or don't, discuss it or move on...but man, sometimes I wonder what in life has made some of these people so incredibly jaded and eager to spread misery.
-
Agreed. We don't know, that was my point. You've quoted a partial definition....so what's the point?
-
But why?? So you can try to prove a point that he may or may not have "inside" information? Isn't that the whole point of each forum participant to just evaluate for themselves and then believe or don't believe...or for most of us, just take it and say, "Eh, we'll see"....if he's right, great we can know to trust him in the future, if he's not, maybe he's lied, maybe he was given wrong info or inaccurate or maybe it simply changed.....either way, taking this to a level where you've intentionally planted disinformation, is someone who just needs to spend more time doing productive things and for God's sake, it's the holidays man, cheer the f-up and let....it.....go.
-
I wasn't saying we would or could or should....just that at the time, it would have been infuriating for most of us and it makes sense why it was being rumored that Glenn was on the block but then nothing came to fruition.
-
I would disagree. Part of the definition of "rift" is a "clear space or interval" or "breach" which is further defined as a "temporary gap in continuity"....again, not saying your perception is wrong, but it's not definitive either. That's my only point, that it could be severe as you intimated, or it could simply be a strong disagreement as part of an isolated incident.
-
But to be fair, you can have a heavy disagreement and not necessarily "fall out"....as in irreparable damage to the relationship. Maybe it is, maybe it's not....if it's two reasonable men, you can have a strong disagreement, stew for a day or two and move on....
-
Interesting about the Glenn trade - no trade - as many speculated that he would be gone. Also, I think at the time - unfortunately - many fans, including myself would have been upset by trading what was a blue-chip LT for a WR about to be a FA and a 4th round pick. However, in hindsight - which can't factor into the decision - it would have been best. But, I responded to a Tweet by Joe Buscaglia that it could be the Bills are essentially shutting Glenn down in hopes he can get healthy enough to be traded in Off-season.

Lets just go for Kirk Cousins in the offseason
BigBuff423 replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One more thing about the Cousins pursuit: there is real concern about the cost and financial obligation to sign him in Buffalo, and it's a legitimate concern. But consider that not retaining Tyrod's contract will free up quite a bit of space, I don't think Shady is back (as I've beaten that one to death) so if that occurs there's more money in the pot and possibly Kyle Williams. That right there is your Cousins contract and more money, which means it wouldn't need to drastically impose their otherwise FA plans and keep the Draft picks, and if Tyrod is traded, they've acquired another. I've been anti-Cousins simply because I'd like the Bills to draft their own guy, but it is hard to argue against the move entirely. -
So, the internet isn't a place for civil discourse and basic courtesy? Ok, got it...so because it's done anonymously and without personalization, we can completely disregard the general decorum of decency. Yeah, that makes sense....
-
Why?? Because some people on this board can't seem to manage their emotions and thoughts without typing first.

BigBuff423 replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you take Cousins and pay him, you're virtually guaranteeing yourself you will need to fill almost every other hole via Draft, meaning you'll need every pick you've got and then some....so, to take a QB early would not be a wise investment...now, if you found a guy like Russell Wilson in the 3rd, then you Draft him and see what happens. But if you're taking Cousins, you need to make early gains on your 4 picks in the first 2 rounds. There is some thought you could have both Cousins AND Allen....I doubt the others, but Allen might still be there in the mid-rounds, and almost certainly in Round 2. I'm not advocating one way or the other, but if you're prone to doing that sort of thing, it probably could be done without moving picks. -

I get your point, and I'm not saying this is or is not an endorsement of Cousins, I just thought it deserved to be resurfaced given the "hot debate" in the other two threads about Dennison and Cousins.
