Bears to trade #1 overall pick to Panthers
NeverOutNick replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree, but I also think the Bears will be finishing bottom third in the rankings again next year so at least having two first round picks, can get them in position to draft Maye next year. I’ll root for fields to do well, but if we’re being honest, he improved in his play this year and they still were the worst team in football. I don’t think his ceiling is much higher than what he did this year. But I hope I’m wrong. Another way to look at it. Joe Burrow went to an inept Bengals team and although a torn ACL his rookie year got them the #4 pick and Chase, they haven’t sniffed the NFLs gutter since. It’s hard to find these Franchise QBs but I don’t think teams should settle for what they have when in a position to keep swinging until they hit on one. This is the make or break year for Fields. He has Moore and Claypool and I’m sure the bears will invest more (no pun intended) around him to give him every opportunity to be successful. Panthers get, according to vegas, CJ stroud. He throws the prettiest most catchable ball in this class. I love the way he drops it in to his WRs on intermediate routes. I question his decision making and deep ball accuracy but he’s got Frank Reich and Josh Mccown. He also seems to have a good head on his shoulders from listening to him talk. I don’t love any of these QBs but I think he’s going to be set up for really good success early on in. That garbage division. Great trade now let’s hope the bills can trade a couple orders of Duffs wings for Deandre Hopkins and sign Lavonte David before this draft -
Bears to trade #1 overall pick to Panthers

I don’t love any of the QBs in this draft but I do think Young and Stroud are good enough to start day 1 in this league and with Frank Reich at the helm I trust they will only improve from where they are now. It was a good trade for them. If the raiders made this trade I’d agree they got hosed by the bears but the panthers with their coaching and the division and conference they play in made the right move. -

Bears traded the #1 pick to the panthers!! I love it Bears get: DJ Moore #9 pick this year 2nd rounder this year Next years 1st rounder 2025 2nd rounder and Panthers get their franchise QB Good trade for both sides. if I were the bears I would’ve traded Fields and drafted Young. You get a couple more years of a cheap franchise QB who is a better passer than Fields but I get it. I think this was the perfect trade for both sides since the bears were staying with fields. Panthers could easily win the division as soon as this year with Reich and mccown having a clean slate leading Young or even Stroud. Hopefully more of these young QBs start heading to the NFC from now on -
Ok so I won’t put any of the top QBs or Jalen Carter and Will Anderson Jr…I suck at watching O line college film so I’m not going to try. My favorite players I think are special, go in the first 2 days of the draft and will have very good NFL careers barring injury: 1. Zay Flowers WR 2. Devon Witherspoon CB 3. Josh Downs WR 4. Bijan Robinson RB 5. Michael Mayer TE 6. Dalton Kincaid TE 7. Darnell Washington TE 8. Deuce Vaughn RB 9. Christian Gonzalez CB 10. Calijah Kancey DT Later gems…Most likely day 3 picks (maybe late day 2): Max Duggan QB Brenton Strange TE Tyjae Spears RB 3 WRs I think are underrated but also very boom/bust that I would consider taking a chance on: Jayden Reed - He just seems to fit Buffalo after watching him play in the snow and never really having a good QB. He seems to run a nice route tree with good hands and can return kicks Charlie Jones - A mix between Ed Mccaffey and Cole Beasley to me. Intriguing but is he clutch like those guys? Kayshon Boutte - Raw talent could be the best WR in the class but maturity and injury issues are scary.

I actually love this idea! So cool…Wish we did it years ago when I watched like every game of college football. I’ll still give it a go this year (give me a little bit and I’ll have my list)…wish we had updates from last year when I was adamant about trading up whatever it takes for Sauce Gardner.

Per Shefty - Bills “expected to lose” Poyer and Edmunds
NeverOutNick replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m not sure I agree with this statement because Roquan Smith is one of the best linebackers in the league but who knows maybe you’re right because of Edmunds age and upside -
Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
NeverOutNick replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lamar is going to have suitors and they’ll be from owners/GMs who love taking chances and are not that far from being playoff teams. Here’s my top 5 Lamar destinations if he doesn’t get matched offer by Ravens: 1. Raiders 2. Jets if they don’t get Rodgers 3. Colts 4. SF 5. Atlanta (just don’t buy that they’re out) SF would be amazing to watch with Lamar under center and all of their RAC weapons. Just wow instant Super Bowl favorite and they could probably work out a trade without doing the two 1st round picks. Something like Lance and a couple second rounders. Raiders, colts, jets and falcons ownership have all proven to spend money wrecklessly so why not -
Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
NeverOutNick replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I 100% agree with this part of your response. The rest got off on a tangent lol Lamar is perfectly fine going after all the $$$ he can get and Watson’s deal did happen and needs to be considered when looking at what he can get for himself. Should an NFL team give out another fully guaranteed deal? Probably not but I bet the number Lamar gets will be over $200 mil guaranteed with some extra incentives on top now because of the Watson deal. It also smells fishy that teams have backed out so quickly on an available top 10 QB. I’m hopeful that it’s a smokescreen and behind the scenes Atlanta and other teams are finding out whatever they can on how to get Lamar as their QB. Love or Hate how Lamar plays the game, we can all agree he’s unique and would make any franchise some money in the short term along with making them a perennial playoff team (especially in the NFC). -
Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?

Yes sir! Do it and then draft a couple O lineman early 🥳 -

Looks like they did the non exclusive franchise tag. I think that’s smart to let him see what he can get and then match if you like it. If not you get a couple first rounders and we all know Baltimore knows how to draft -
Is there any defensive player you'd be happy with at pick 27?
NeverOutNick replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
It may sound bullheaded but honestly No there isn’t a reasonable defensive player I’d be happy with drafting with our first pick. We need to start focusing on the offensive line and real weapons for Josh early in the draft. The time for developing O linemen and Diamond in the rough receivers has passed. My dream scenario is the Steelers or Seahawks are enamored with a defensive player at pick 27 and trade us their 2 early 2nd round picks to move up. Then we somehow land with our 3 picks two O lineman and a WR, ideally: Zay Flowers, Darnell Wright and John Michael Schmitz. We get in my opinion the best WR (especially RAC) in the class, An OT who can play both RT and fill in at LT and a flexible interior lineman who will eventually replace Morse when he retires Probably a pipe dream that all 3 will fall but one can fantasize -
If Edmunds and Poyer are gone realistically I think the following moves in free agency would make for not having any real drop off on D and let’s us invest heavily in O line in the draft: - Sign Lavonte David to a cheaper 1-2 year deal (he’s old but still really good) - Move Benford to Safety to play along side a healthy Hyde (draft a mid round safety or sign one later in free agency once the dust settles) - resign Dane Jackson as a RFA - Sign OBJ or Michael Thomas to one year prove it deal (if we can’t trade a mid round pick for Hopkins) - there are sooooo many RB free agents. After the free for all happens sign a cheap bruiser like Perine to pick up short yardage - Talk Gronk into coming back for one year to win a SB with his hometown team
-
LT - Dawkins LG - Bates C - Morse RG - Schmitz RT - Darnell Wright or Spencer Brown (whomever wins the job in camp) In this scenario we probably have to move up in the second round or somehow move back in the first to get 2 early second rounders. But hopefully the draft falls just right and we get both without doing anything or even better moving back a little in the first and picking up and extra draft pick or 2 for other holes. When Morse retires we have his replacement in Schmitz and worst case scenario for Wright or Brown is the loser could slide into RG or be the swing tackle. I’m not a fan of paying a lot of money for retread o lineman whose original teams didn’t want to pay for and who most of the time are overpaid for less production on their new teams deals. If we’re going after a free agent position I say first sign Lavonte David for a cheaper 1-2 year deal (he’s getting old but still so smart and good) and then trade a 3rd rounder for Deandre Hopkins. We know that would instantly make our offense insane. If Hopkins can’t be had for that then sign OBJ or Michael Thomas to a one year prove it deal because they would ball out with Josh at the helm and with the incentive of proving they’re not has-beens so they can get that final big contract from some other team. Now that Josh is protected for years to come, next year we can find the playmakers he so desperately needs long term. I’d love Zay Flowers and Michael Mayer but I’d rather have Josh healthy and not running for his life. This year we protect our franchise QB long term and patch work the weapons (unless we get Hopkins). That'd be my reasonable starting O line projection while also filing in some holes elsewhere
-
Zay Flowers is growing on me. Kid looks special for a little dude. Still want O lineman early but I won’t be mad if we got Zay in the first

Report: Dolphins exploring “moving on” from Tua
NeverOutNick replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Man I hope so I’d rest easier if that’s the case lol…but I’m sure we won’t be so lucky -
Mayer seems like the guy we should target if we’re going TE. He seems like the best all around TE in the draft. The most sure thing from what I’ve seen
-
100% I think that’s my guy as well unless someone falls that they just can’t pass on

Leslie Frazier "taking a year off from coaching" per Bills PR
NeverOutNick replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree with this but also think that McDermott was never going to let his defense go to a guy like Flores because it would be completely different from what he built these last 5 years. So in the end he was always going to make it an in house move like promoting Bobby Babich to DC. It’s a prideful move that I hope pays off for him but man I would’ve loved to see what Flores would’ve done with his vengeful dolphin slaying spirit lol -
True he was picked right before Oliver but Detroit didn’t want to pay him that’s why he was traded. Hockenson is a top 5 TE in the league and they probably should’ve kept him but because Campbell is a “TE guru” who played TE in the league he probably thinks he can develop a cheaper asset and Detroit already has a plethora of other options for Goff to throw to. But man did I want hockenson bad in that draft
-
Probably could’ve had him over Oliver in that draft too But even though I’d prefer to take an O lineman round one like John Michael Schmitz, I’m warming up to this idea of one of these stud TEs like Kincaid or Mayer
-
You get one player this offseason…who is it?
NeverOutNick replied to McBean's topic in The Stadium Wall
Trade a 3rd round pick (or later) for Deandre Hopkins (he doesn’t ask for more money in this scenario). Out WR group would immediately be the best in the league with Diggs and Hopkins outside and Davis/Shakir/Beasley filling out the 3-5 spots -

Predicting where the QB's end up for 2023
NeverOutNick replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Here’s what I think will happen: - Aaron Rodgers stays in GB - Baltimore trades Lamar Jackson to Seattle for the #5 pick in the draft - Carr signs with Panthers - Saints sign Baker Mayfield - Raiders sign Jimmy G - Geno Smith signs with jets again - Tannehill stays with titans - Daniel Jones resigns with NYG - Bucs sign Taylor Heineke to compete with Trask Draft: - Texans draft Young - Colts draft Levis - Ravens draft Stroud - Falcons draft Richardson Now here’s what I hope happens even though it won’t to make the NFC a little harder and take the pressure off the AFC: - Aaron Rodgers retires and Love starts - Baltimore trades Lamar Jackson to Seattle for the #5 pick in the draft - Bears trade Justin Fields to the Saints for their First (pick 29) and 2nd round picks - Carr signs with Bucs - Bears draft Young - Texans draft Stroud - Panthers trade up from 9 to 3 and take Levis ahead of colts and ravens - Ravens draft Anthony Richardson to compete with Huntley and eventually be there QB - Raiders sign Jimmy G - Colts sign Baker Mayfield - Geno Smith signs with jets again - Tannehill stays with titans
