Miami didn’t have Josh Allen throwing to that speed. I agree we need a mix but we are definitely lacking in the vertical threat department right now and that will have defenses playing tighter upfront. Hopefully Hamler is that guy and stays healthy for us. I honestly think the overall draft was fine but switching out Franklin or Tez Walker for the DT Carter would’ve made it a great draft. Even grabbing Bub Means (or one of the little fast dudes like Ainais Smith or Malik Washington) late over one of the 5-7th round, maybe they’ll make the team, backups would’ve gotten us a deep threat to at least keep the defense honest and not smother our intermediate game. Hopefully Brady can make due because I’m happy the FO is making an effort at helping Josh with some of these signings and I love the juice Coleman has already brought to our team, I just think they missed the boat on adding a real vertical threat (honestly substitute Hollywood brown with Curtis Samuel and we killed the offseason for all of Josh’s needs)

It’s not for lack of trying with their FO and HC. They just don’t have the guy to win the SB at QB.

Think you nailed it brother. I wouldn’t keep 6 LBs but McD will I’m sure. I also agree on the 4 WR locks. They need to make it a fair competition for the other 2 spots if they don’t bring in a vet. There’s no reason to just let Shorter have a spot just because he was a 5th rounder last year. I’d love to see Hamler get a legit shot at being the deep threat and would also be on board with bringing in another outside threat either in trade (Aiyuk) or after a few more vets get cut from making room for the rooks. I also really liked Cephus coming out but not sure he fits what we need outside. He was pretty clutch across the middle at Wisconsin though

You could be right brother on Hamler, who knows. But my eyes tell me McD has a big say. He stands next to Beane intimately whenever a selection is made. Either they’re just that close of friends or he’s micromanaging everything since he did get Beane the job 🙄 (I may still be salty that we passed on Franklin and Walker for another rotational DT 😆) Body language is key when dealing with people and when the cameras scan over to Brad Holmes, he’s clearly making the calls and Dan Campbell is off in the distance high fiving people.

I don’t think Beane or moreso McD would’ve taken him over any defensive player they had rated the same or higher but I do agree he has special speed. Hoping it works out

My first instinct without reading any comments is I like this move. I’ve always liked Deon Jones back with Atlanta, so why not throw a cheap deal his way to see if he regain some of that mojo

I wanted multiple WRs in this draft more than anyone. And I wanted explosive WRs like Franklin and Tez Walker (both could’ve had round 3) BUT I do have optimism in KJ Hamler. He’s a guy I liked coming out of Penn state. I know he had the health issues that Denver parted ways with him on but he’s only 24 with electric speed who will finally have a legit QB throwing him the ball. I’m hoping he’s the vertical threat we need since there really isn’t anyone else available to fill that roll

My expectations are win the Super Bowl. I don’t hear the “transition” nonsense. Beane and McD don’t get a transition year after multiple years of falling short. Josh Allen is our QB. Hopefully you got him enough offensively to make a deep playoff run or it’s on Beane and McD. 7 years with the most talented QB in NFL history is long enough. Every year is Super Bowl or bust

Agreed we take Franklin or Walker in the 3rd or Bub Means (even Malik Washington or Ainais Smith from the slot gave us a nice vertical threat) with one of the 5ths and we’re feeling optimistic with a deep threat option

Honestly one of the WRs left in free agency are appealing but at least with MVS and Chark we get a deep threat on the outside. OBJ gives the experience and still has a little left in the tank and I’ve always liked Corey Davis’ potential and even though he’s been a colossal bust, maybe playing with Josh would resurrect his career

It definitely feels this way. But he doesn’t have to. He just needs to hire scouts who can and then trust them to give him the right intel.

This sounds fun. I’ll play later later but honestly I would’ve been fine with this draft if we would’ve taken Franklin or Tez Walker at pick 95 and Brendan Rice with our last pick 221. Get Josh an explosive deep threat and Rice is worth the gamble over a project OT that’s never played football

Even if this does end up being a solid draft answer this question, DID WE INVEST IN HELPING THE MOST IMPORTANT AND ONLY PART OF ROSTER THAT WILL WIN US A SUPER BOWL? The answer is no. While other teams with young franchise QB drafted multiple WRs in what was known throughout the league to be the best and deepest WR class in years, the bills took ONE. We have 11 picks and we took ONE. We traded back multiple times and even out of the draft completely because our FO and Coach think were “fine” at WR. We have one of the 2 best QBs in the entire league and lost our #1 and #2 WR this offseason and we took ONE WR. - Chargers HC, Jim Harbaugh, known for building through the lines before taking “luxury” picks like WR even took 3 WRs for his new franchise QB. - The NE Patriots, who are known to be historically awful at helping out their QB, gave their new franchise QB 2 new WRs in the first 4 rounds. - The Cincinnati Bengals have 2 top 15 WRs in the league and already have multiple solid #3 WRs from the last couple drafts on their roster, they took a high upside WR for Burrow in the 3rd round - Our rival Miami dolphins already flush with speed added 2 more vertical threats in the Washington boys in the 6th and 7th round. Even if Beane and company were content with our WR room it’s not ok. Being content is a failure when you have Josh Allen as your QB. We should not be trying to prove he can do it on his own with limited options. Who’s our deep threat? Shakir and Samuel are going over the middle, coleman has great hands outside, Kincaid will eat and be the safety net but who is keeping the defense honest deep and why don’t we have multiple guys that can take the top off like KC (worthy and Hollywood) and Miami when we have the guy with the strongest arm in the league behind center? We should be overflowing his cupboard with riches and riches of WR talent so we can win a damn Super Bowl. Finally, will a lot of these drafted players work out, yes. But now I’ll ask a different version of my initial question. GAME ON THE LINE, AFC CHAMPIONSHIP, NO MAJOR INJURIES, DID WE GIVE JOSH ALLEN EVERYTHING HE NEEDS TO BEAT THE CHIEFS?

No offense taken. I can only go off of film. Film showed there were a lot of really good WR prospects we passed on multiple times. Most years the list of potential WRs that can make a team better is much thinner. We went into the draft losing our #1 and #2 WR AND even if we had BOTH we would've needed a WR so leaving this loaded draft with only 1 WR, no matter if you agree with my assessments or not, is a fail

100% agree and it’s eventually going to either get them both fired or Josh will not be re-signing after this contract. It’s sad because it’s ok to make mistakes in their business because they have a top 2 QB in the league. Just take care of him and he’ll take care of your jobs. Stop trying to win in spite of him. That’s not how it works, you win because of him and enjoy the free ride

I hit on 29 out of my top 30 WRs, only missing out on my #30 and honestly he'll probably do well in Detroit. I wrote a quick tier assessment below (undrelined and italicized) and bolded the team that drafted the WR. Some things I noticed were most of my top ranked WRs went to teams with offensive minded head coaches with young QBs and/or teams with franchise QBs getting them more weapons. Some of these teams went back to the well multiple times and didn't even need to BUT because they understood how great a WR draft this was they took the value when it fell to them. Tier 1 – Can’t Miss, pick your flavor, would be the top WR in most drafts and we get THREE of them this year. 1. Marvin Harrison – Arizona pick 4 2. Rome Odunze – Bears pick 9 3. Malik Nabers – Giants pick 6 We had no real chance to get these guys Tier 2 – Late first round - Potential #1 WRs that still need a little refinement 4. AD Mitchell – Colts pick 52 5. Brain Thomas Jr – Jaguars pick 23 6. Troy Franklin – Broncos pick 102 Apparently we didn’t like either Mitchell or Franklin. Could’ve easily taken Franklin over Carter in the 3rd and I would’ve said we had a very good draft but we will soon see if I or our FO was wrong on Franklin Tier 3 – Special #2 options 7. Xavier Worthy – Chiefs pick 28 (we basically gave him to the chiefs) 8. Ladd McConkey – Chargers pick 34 I get why we passed when we did with what kind of WR we needed but didn’t realize we weren’t going to try and get a deep threat at all in this draft rich with them Tier 4 – Potential #1 WRs with HUGE question marks that a lot of teams won’t take the risk on (I would because of the upside) 9. Jermaine Burton – Bengals pick 80 10. Tez Walker –Ravens pick 113 2 players with speed and upside we should’ve went after but the teams that got them understand that their franchise QBs need downfield weapons Tier 5 – Good to Great #2 options that will go somewhere Day 2 of the draft (deepest part of the WR draft) 11. Ja’Lynn Polk – Patriots pick 37 12. Ricky Pearsall – 49ers pick 31 13. Keon Coleman – Bills pick 33 14. Xavier Legette – Panthers pick 32 15. Roman Wilson – Steelers pick 84 16. Brenden Rice – Chargers pick 225 17. Javon Baker – Patriots pick 110 All solid #2 WRs like I said before. Very surprised Rice fell so far, maybe something will come out about him. Tier 6 – A slot of talent, early day 3 guys 18. Malachi Corley – Jets pick 65 19. Ainais Smith – Eagles pick 152 20. Malik Washington – Dolphins pick 184 Speed kills! Unless you’re buffalo then we just say nah thanks we “like what we’ve got at WR”. Tier 7 – Best of the rest, Round 5-7 21. Johnny Wilson – Eagles pick 185 22. Luke McCaffrey – Commanders pick 100 23. Jalen McMillan – Bucs pick 92 - Speed, vertical threat we could've had in 3rd 24. Jamari Thrash – Browns pick 156 25. Jacob Cowing – 49ers pick 135 26. Cornelius Johnson – Chargers pick 253 27. Bub Means – Saints pick 170 - Huge upside vertical threat could've had with one of our MULTIPLE 5th round picks 28. Ryan Flournoy – Cowboys pick 216 29. Tahj Washington – Dolphins pick 241 - Speed, vertical threat we could've had in the 7th 30. Isaiah Williams – Undrafted signed by Lions Last thing I'll state because I can't hide my disgust on how we handled this great opportunity to improve our team with so many missed chances after the plethora of picks Beane used for players that will sit in back up rolls (but hey they're good character guys so neato... I no longer trust Beane. I've given up on McD getting this team to the promised land and know it will only happen under him if Josh carries everyone on his back BUT I've always thought Beane will do his best to get the right players around Josh in spite of McD favoring his pathetic d year after year. This was an epic fail on his part. I don't care about his or anyone's ego. Who cares if Diggs said Josh can't win without a #1 WR. Who cares if you want to prove your lackluster picks in previous drafts are going to work out (Justin Shorter). What I care about is the Buffalo Bills winning a Super Bowl. What I care about is putting as much talent around the best player this franchise ever had to give him the best chance to succeed. And my final point is...Josh Allen is very intelligent. You keep giving him the scraps and expecting him to superman it year in and year out, he will leave. We won't have anyone else to blame but ourselves because he won't say anything. It's not his job to say what he wants. It's the owner and FO's job to make the right decisions and they are failing miserably since the 13 second melt down. Hopefully KJ Hamler works out as the deep threat. Coleman seems like a good kid and will be a fun Higgins type. Shakir and Samuel will do a good job in the middle and Kincaid will get better year two. I just hope it's enough. Maybe one day we'll over do it on the offensive side of the ball like we over do the defense year in and year out without success. Go Bills
