  1. He did not opt out this year. He played 7 games in 2020 and produced no sacks. For sure the athletic ability is there, but will he ever be a very good DE and pass rusher? I am not opposed to the Bills selecting him, but he would definitely be a risky pick based almost entirely on his potential over his little production. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/jayson-oweh-1.html
  2. We are aligned - I was just pointing out that this year is a little different from the perspective of having limited in-person access due to COVID. I also imagine that Gil Brandt is no longer grinding through hundreds of hours of tape on these prospects, but I do think he watches some. My interest is mainly in how connected he likely is to people in the league.
  3. Except in this case scouts had limited or no opportunity to see him in person - only on tape. Likewise, scouts and GMs likely haven’t talked with him in person (maybe by Zoom) due to COVID.
  4. Gil Brandt’s top 100 draft prospect list has quite a few differences from many others. Interesting read from a guy who had decades as an evaluator and is likely very well connected (still) in the league. https://www.nfl.com/news/gil-brandt-s-hot-100-1-0-top-prospects-in-2021-nfl-draft-class
  5. If Bama is drafting, they have the entire first round of picks...
  6. The difference between a QB looking “ok” with poor to middling receivers and very good with some real weapons can be surprising. See how much better Josh Allen was when he got some receivers who could get open frequently?
  7. Character and process are different. If he is a hard worker and dedicated to football, but is an a*s, that is process compatible, but character concerning. I'm not advocating to draft or not draft him.
  8. I bet that CJ Spiller is still pretty fast... Speed is only one part of being a good RB. I'll grant that with the more open NFL offenses of today, that speed is a big advantage - if you can get into the open field.
  9. Freiermuth is big and has good hands, but he is definitely not a "dynamic speed weapon". For as big as he is, I haven't seen him described as a particularly good run blocker. He can still be a decent player at TE, but I don't see him as a great game-changing TE. Maybe something like Pete Metzellars was...
  10. I think this is not a good year to be looking for a 4-3 DE.
  11. Problem is, who is it that really helps them this year? The pass rushers are all risky prospects, no TE within any reach is that good after Pitts, and I don’t thin a RB makes much difference with this OL.
  12. If the RB is a pass receiving threat, maybe. I just think that the run game woes were due to terrible blocking, rather than Singletary and Moss. If my view is right, then an early RB would likely suffer same fate of being hit in backfield frequently.
  13. We got pick 27 and future 1st in the 2017 trade. What I speculated on was pick 30 for a 2022 first and 2021 3rd. Given Bills needs: DE, TE, CB - I don’t see any help, except at CB, available at pick 30. Who in this draft is worth that? Nobody that I can see...
  14. Looking at pick 30, it doesn’t look like there will be a decent pass rusher available and it seems too early to take an interior OL. What would people think of trading out for a 2022 first and maybe a 2021 3rd? Thought process is that any 2022 pick is likely to be earlier than #30 and DL prospects are weak this year. Thoghts?
  15. Excellent points on the shelf-life of Sanders and Beasley.
  16. Toney is intriguing, but would he get snaps? If he pushes Gabe Davis off the field, does that really improve the team much? I don’t mind the idea of an OL, especially one who is supposed to be a powerful run blocker, but what would you do with Mayfield - compete vs Cody Ford for one OG spot? I would not be disappointed with Etienne, but I think the run blocking was the biggest problem last year - I know many disagree and think that Singletary and Moss were the problem with the run game.
  17. I chose Molden, but mainly because I would not want to gamble on Oweh’s talent with little production or on Barmore’s obvious talent and production- but inconsistent efforts.
  18. Oweh had zero sacks in 7 games last year. He will be drafted on potential, not on production.
  19. Maybe, but he would really struggle at 4-3 DE at 6’3” and 240. I’m not sure he is as flexible/fluid as Von Miller. He IS very young as a RS Sophomore, so maybe there is upside, but he is pretty raw. Does he have the length to be effective rushing the passer in the league?
  20. He is talented for sure, but he has already quit football once in college due to concussions only to resurface in Miami.
  21. Well, I think a young DE is the biggest need, but I don’t think the draft sets up well to find one there - if lucky, they may get a Shaq Lawson level player at end of round 1. I’d be more inclined to take a CB to improve coverage giving the lineman we do have a bit longer to get home.
  22. Agree that it is rarely, if ever, pure BPA as teams often have a number of players rated with similar grades. In that case, they will opt for one of the similarly rated players at a position of greater need or importance. I do think that to take a DE at 30, they would have to pass over players that they will have higher grades on, so I am hoping for them not to do that. I don’t see a pass rusher who will likely be available at 30 who would really make a big difference for this team this coming season. The Bills and others may, of course, disagree with that.
  23. I think best hope is continued improvement from Epenesa and more pressure from Ed Oliver with Star back to eat up some blocks. I thought that Epenesa was improving as the season wore on. I am not sure that the DE class this year - at least who might be available at 30 or later is very full of top pass rushers. I think they would have to pass over better prospects at other positions like CB and OL to take a DE at 30.
  24. WAS better than Sanders when both were in their primes, however Sanders has been more productive recently. no doubt, I would have been excited to get AJ Green, but he is not the player now that we remember from several years ago. Green had 46 receptions in 2018, none in 2019, and 47 last season. Meanwhile Sanders had 208 receptions over the same time period, including 61 last season.
  25. Lotta guys who don’t have to answer for bad contracts in a few years throwing stones now because Bills are not spending like drunken sailors or “going all in”. What team is spending recklessly without consideration for the future? Maybe a team or two is mortgaging the future to win now. Remember, Bills still need to give Josh Allen a contract. No doubt, same folks would be decrying “bad contracts” if Allen gets seriously hurt and has a short career...
