McShay- Bills trying to move up above 23 for Etienne
OldTimer1960 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kamara had about 250 touches in college. Etienne had 650 rushes and almost 800 total touches with receptions included. He is a high mileage late-model used car and the prior owner drove him hard. For similar reasons I would shy away from Najee Harris (700+ touches). Meanwhile Javonte Williams is at about 400 touches, mostly carries. -

Not enough cap room for his salary when the Bills need to pay Allen... -
Call your shot: Who will the Bills pick in the 1st round?
OldTimer1960 replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No idea who they will pick. I suspect that they will trade down out of the first. The DEs are all projects and CBs that will be available are crap-shoots (both my humble opinion). -
Peter King Mock- Bills take Etienne
OldTimer1960 replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is a fugly draft at positions that the Bills’ need most. Any DE available at 30 is either a one year producer, low producer-high upside, high-producer with injury concerns or not very exciting as a prospect. CB is mostly a jumble of ok prospects, with exception of Farley who has major injury risk or Newsome who likely goes before Bills’ pick. I trust Beane to make an informed decision. Of those likely available, I am not sure what to do. None of the likely suspects really intrigues me. -

Watching highlights is not “scouting”. Everyone’s highlights should look great, else they aren’t really highlights. Here are highlights from a major draft disappointment. https://www.buffalobills.com/video/aaron-maybin-highlights-469524 -
McShay- Bills trying to move up above 23 for Etienne

I’m not disputing that Etienne (or Harris) are good players, but neither seems that good to me that they should trade up for them. I appreciate that a really dynamic RB could meet DL in the backfield faster than Singletary or Moss, but I’m not sure that either Etienne or Harris are the missing piece to unlock another 3 points/game on offense. To be clear, I agree that both are a bit better prospect - especially in receiving game - than the Bills’ current crew, but I don’t think either are true game changers. Now, at 30 if no DE or CB on their board is worth the pick, then by all means stack the RBs up against WRs, OL, LBs and any other positions. -
Jeff Legwold top 100 — Zach Wilson at 24

I was impressed with Wilson when watching Payton Turner of Houston when they played BYU. -

I think that there is a reasonable chance that Samuel will be available at the Bills’ 2nd pick.
-
Question is whether Samuel can really play outside at his size or is he slot-corner only? If they believe he is a slot-only, I don’t think there is a chance that they’d take him in round 1.
-
My bold prediction is that many on this board will not like the Bills' first pick. I know, not very bold!

Edmunds is STILL younger than most of this year's draft prospects.

Which defensive scheme would you prefer?
OldTimer1960 replied to Arm of Harm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed, Phillips has had many outstanding defenses over a long career. Great defensive coordinator. -
Gunner: what do you think of Carlos Basham? He isn’t the twitchy/explosive pass rusher that we would love to find, but he looks fairly fluid, has very good size and was productive, albeit at Wake Forest. I would think he could go early to mid 2nd. I would be surprised to see Bills’ pull the trigger on Farley with back surgery and no ability for their own Docs to examine him. Great talent for sure, but a big risk this year.

Rashan Gary was a highly athletic, not-as-productive-as-he-should be prospect in 2019. He didn't do much in 2019, but started coming on in 2020. Is there a similarity with Oweh and Gary? https://www.si.com/college/michigan/football/michigan-football-rashan-gary-jim-harbaugh-green-bay-packers-wolverines

Potential Hint to Draft Priorities?
OldTimer1960 replied to glazeduck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A good rookie could compete to start at CB, though I don’t know that there will be such a player available at 30. I think a good OL could compete to start on the interior of the OL. -
Tommy Sweeney expected back by Bills per doctors
OldTimer1960 replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed on that point, but to extrapolate from some anomalous late picks who turned out to be good that nobody has any idea of who will be good seems wrong to me. -
Measurements reported from medical combine in Indy
OldTimer1960 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he were to miraculously last until the Bills' pick, they should be on him. He should be able to get to 175-180, but he is a damn fine route runner and receiver. -

I just don't see any intriguing TE prospects beyond Pitts. If Freiermuth were to last until pick 61, but pick 30 or early 2nd in trade-down would be disappointing to me - of course I only know what I've read and, in some cases, watched on game film (not highlight videos).
