  1. Who do you see available at corner after the first that could play meaningful snaps this year? Guys that are predominantly slot corners won't be of much help to the Bills in filling their outside corner need. On the flip side, I think there will be one or more WRs at 57 who could help the Bills replace Beasley in the slot. Interior OL is going to be a problem to fill with a draft choice. It doesn't look like a really good year to find a G.
  2. If they don’t shore up corner, it erodes the gains they added to the pass rush. I am not crazy about it being basically mandatory to draft a corner first, because it is possible that the good ones will be gone by 25 and then what? But that is how it shapes up as of today. Got to get another receiver somewhere as well unless you want to be the offense on McKenzie being a good slot guy
  3. I agree that CB in round 1 is best shot to get a good one. I don’t agree that if you don’t take one until pick 57, then you might as well wait until the 4th or later. Regarding no above average talent at outside corner, they don’t currently even have average talent there. Maybe Dane Jackson is OK, but he is very unproven and there is zero beyond him. Neal is ok in the slot, but will be a constant target for opposing offenses. What if teams go 4 wide and you have to play Jackson, Neal, Johnson and Cam Lewis? That doesn’t sound good to me…
  4. Beyond it wanting to spend this year’s 2nd and next year’s first or 2nd on a RB, I don’t think Hall is “elite”. He is a good prospect, but I don’t see him as great.
  5. So, who is playing CB if White misses, say, the first month of the regular season? Jackson is not a proven starter and has is not a special athlete for the position. Do you want to line up with Jackson and Siran Neal at outside CB with Taron Johnson manning the slot? Do you really think that the pass rush is going to be so much better that you can put anyone with a pulse at CB and expect to be good?
  6. That will likely cost next year's first and if they draft Williams, still leaves a very shallow WR group until Williams is ready to contribute (if he gets there this year). I like Williams and Dotson, but I can't imagine the secondary playing as it is currently configured - even if they get some old vet on his last legs to play opposite of Dane Jackson if White isn't ready for the season start. I also recognize that receiver is a need area, but that position seems deeper in the draft than corner. I don't have any interest in trading this year's 2nd and next year's first or 2nd for Breece Hall. Too many needs at CB and WR to be doing that - in my opinion.
  7. And that offense will have to score 40 points a game to win much. The CB position (currently) is a mess. A "cheap vet" isn't going to be the answer - hasn't been the past few years when they've brought in aged vets who previously were good.
  8. As the roster is currently configured, they would have to. There are two glaring holes on the roster right now: CB is mess beyond White who is injured and Taron Johnson and WR is a very weak position beyond Diggs and Gabe Davis. Since this is a post about the offense, I think they are in a bad spot WR currently with only McKenzie who has shown flashes, but not consistent production in the slot and basically nothing behind Diggs and Davis on the outside. Considering this is a heavily pass-oriented offense, this is obviously not a great position to be in. Unfortunately, CB is in worse shape so they almost have to take a corner in the first because it looks like the talent at that position falls off quickly. The receiver class is deeper than CB (or so all that I am reading says), hoping that they can find a WR that can contribute this year in the second. This need for a rookie to contribute probably means that they can't afford to pick Jameson Williams in the first, even if they would ordinarily wait for him to develop.
  9. Holy cow, the AFC is stacked. The Bills had better win the division because a Wild Card spot is going to be brutal to get. Chiefs, Bills, Chargers (with many new players), Burrow and the Bengals, Cleveland with Watson, Tennesse is still tough, Raiders have brought in many, including Davonte Adams, Colts if they find a QB…
  10. Almost HAS to be now. No other position is as big a hole right now and I don’t think that the draft is deep in outside corners that are ready to play a lot in the league. Unless they sign a vet that can competently start. I would not wait until pick 57 to pick one and expect him to play a lot this year.
  11. Too smallish? He lost like 20lbs from his weight in college because that is what the Bills asked him to do. I think he will be here and play well when given the opportunity. He will be the #3 or 4 DE (Basham will be the other). Epenesa showed significant flashes in preseason and some in the regular season despite being stuck behind 2 vets whom the coaches wanted to play out of respect. Now, I could be wrong, but that is how I see it. He isn’t likely a starter with Miller and Rousseau ahead of him, but I think he can be a solid reserve.
  12. I’m intrigued, but man he was great in college and never did much in the league. Now he is coming off 2 consecutive years that even Tommy Sweeney wouldn’t be proud of. Hopefully, 2 years removed from his injury and as a second option, he can catch lightning in a bottle for a couple of years…
  13. Well, color me surprised. I expect and hope that the contract doesn’t hamstring them in 2 or 3 years.
  14. I’m sure you are right, but that doesn’t make those opinions rational.
  15. Do you really think that Chandler Jones would have come close to guaranteeing a SB next year? I don’t. But you liked those acquisitions at the time. It IS exciting when they sign name free agents. It is not a guarantee f success and it is very likely that those signings compromise their future spending ability and competitiveness (of course, my opinion).
  16. The Bills are in the enviable position of having a great young QB who is 25 y.o. Unfortunately, they are not the only team in the AFC who has a great QB (Mahomes, Burrows, Herbert, Russell Wilson (Den), maybe Lamar Jackson) and there are some good QBs who might become great (Wilson (Jets), Trevor Lawrence). Beyond them, we don’t know who might get Desean Watson… Point is, Josh is great, but there are several teams who have great QBs, too. Looking at it rationally, if you get to the playoffs you have to win a minimum of 3 games (4 if you don’t have first week bye) to win the SB. All the teams in the AFC playoffs are likely to be very good and have outstanding QBs. Let’s look at what the probability of winning a SB would be for a very good team who doesn’t have a first round bye. This would mean that they would have to win 4 consecutive games against the best teams in the league. Being charitable, assume your team has a 70% chance to win each game. To win 4 straight, the probability is .7x.7x.7x.7= 24% In my view, the Bills should be playing the long game and not mortgaging the future to go “all in”. Allen should have minimum of 7 more very good years. I don’t want them to play cap games and create a problem 2 or 3 years from now that would eliminate them from contention. Be reasonable, don’t create big cap problems and let your young player grow some. This team is good enough to be competitive with any team in the AFC, though I admit that Chargers have improved a ton on paper and Cincy will be a big problem while Burrows is on his rookie deal.
  17. Rams and Bucs are in different positions because their “window” withe their QB will close sooner. JA should be here and good for at least another 7 years and would not want to be in worse cap hell for much of that time due to finagling the cap now and have it all be a disaster In 2 or 3 years.
  18. He apparently likes being in Washington. That doesn’t mean anything about what he thinks of Buffalo and does not necessarily suggest anything bad that the Bills front office did or didn’t do.
  19. I think the poster meant clearing space for Daquan Jones, not Chandler. I don’t expect them to go into big debt to sign a good, but aging DE.
  20. They won’t get much in trade for Beasley at his age and him being a bit of a pain in the arse. He is still very good, but could fall off quickly.
  21. I agree that he has still been playing well and I am glad that the Bills were able to bring him in. Still, the age has taken some toll.
  22. Former Pro Bowl LG. Now, I’m not complaining about the signing, but 34 y.o. Saffold is not in his prime.
  23. For Nevada. He might be a decent prospect, but that is not the SEC that Nevada played in.
  24. Do we have DTs and no pass rush help? I understand limited resources in the draft, so unless they felt that Jackson was better than or equal to Wallace, I am disappointed in letting Wallace walk for low end starter money. Does that mean doom? Of course not, but I’d rather have had status quo with chance to draft a good prospect than to be forced into a high pick who might be a big reach. Hope they can find a first-round worthy CB that fits their scheme or they are likely looking at trade up in round 2 for a decent CB prospect.
  25. Maybe OK, but he will cost #25, won’t make it to our 2nd pick.
