  1. I don't think that there is any real chance that you will see the Bills change their philosophy and spend really big money on the G position. They just don't value the position highly enough to go spend the $7-$8m per season that someone like Iupati will command.
  2. Yep, maybe patience can be rewarded? Perhaps it isn't prudent to run everyone that doesn't have immediate success out of town.
  3. Well, really Luck hasn't done much at all. He certainly can throw a nice deep ball on occasion, but he has done nothing to keep the Colts remotely in this game, let alone win it for them.
  4. Colts gonna play themselves out of this quickly. They couldn't afford any turnovers, this could get out of hand quickly. That defensive holding call was big. Colts have to answer on this drive.
  5. What a collapse by Green Bay - awful. How is it possible to get 5 takeaways and be leading by 12 with the ball with 5 minutes to go and still lose? The two point conversion might have been the worst give away. That pass was in the air for 10 minutes and they could not defend it?
  6. I can agree that more "shots" could be taken in the draft, but there are limits to how many QBs you can effectively evaluate in training camp/offseason. It isn't practical to bring 5 guys to camp (3 incumbents and 2 draft/FAs because there isn't enough practice time to go around. Still, I could support the idea of drafting a QB every year in the mid to late rounds in hopes of getting lucky, but really other than Brady and Romo, there aren't many good QBs that weren't drafted early (that I can think of). I know Kaepernick, dalton, and Wilson were 2nd and 3rd rounders, but even those are rare exceptions (and I wouldn't annoint Kaepernick or Dalton yet). I'd be reluctant to commit a 1st or 2nd every year to a QB, but could buyin to more selections than they have made.
  7. So the gist of this thread is that having a great QB is very important - gee who would have thunk it? The hard part is finding a great QB...
  8. No question, but the reality is that there are no great QBs available that can "win with their arm".
  9. I think that plan is "Man, we need to find someone competent to compete with Manuel because he isn't a sure thing. Man, we wish there was someone good available!" Seriously, I think they'll try to get one of the FAs: Sanchez, Hoyer or Moore. I don't think that they'll be willing to pull a big trade for Bradford or Cutler as both have significant risks and would eat up a lot of valuable cap space in addition to what you'd have to give up in a trade for either.
  10. In what way? I thought that the Bills' special teams were very good this past season.
  11. I loathe the Cowboys as much as anyone, but they were robbed on the Dez Bryant "non-catch"! In my opinion, he made an incredible catch, took 3 step - albeit stumbling - and lost the ball on contact with the ground. They were absolutely robbed.
  12. Why is this the real question? Who the f$#k cares what we think? Oh man, I totally misread your post! I thought it sai what would OBD think - not whT would ODB think!
  13. Would be thrilled if they could get impatient, but I'd rather they use that money to pay Jerry Hughes
  14. The Bills already have a LOT of money tied up in the defense and hopefully can keep Hughes which will also cost a lot. They need to leave room to spend on the offense.
  15. You do know that both Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll are "retread" coaches, right? If you aren't familiar with them, you'll likely be able to catch them if you watch the Super Bowl.
  16. I am not opposed to bringing Sanchez in to compete, but look at how he finished the year for Philly. He started hot and then defenses remembered - oh yeah THAT Mark Sanchez and he reverted to his usual form. Yes, he was marginally better than EJ was this year, but remember Sanchez was in his 6th year with 71 starts AND Chip Kelly coaching compared to EJ's 14 starts under this staff.
  17. Man, I don't think I'd be looking to draft Ohio State's 3rd string QB even if he does win his 3rd game as a starter. Does anyone think that perhaps the rest of the players on that team have propped up their 2nd and now 3rd string QBs rather than the other way around?
  18. If you trade for Cutler you probably can't afford Dareus and Hughes. I would pick Dareus and Hughes over Cutler.
  19. this really isn't news. Of course, any in-coming coach would love to have an established star QB in place. Of the openings, only Atlanta truly features that. Some might argue that SF is set with Kaepernick, but he showed this year that he isn't a sure thing. Others may say Jay Cutler is good in Chicago, but his teams have not been consistently successful and his salary eats up a lot of cap $ that could otherwise help their defense. I'll agree that the Bills' situation is the most unsettled, but only Atlanta's is really very good.
  20. I think you are over-valuing 4th round picks. I know that teams can and do find productive starting players in that round, but the probability of doing so is pretty low. The link below is to an article that suggests the probability of finding a player who starts for more than 1 year in the NFL by the middle of round 4 is about 30%. http://datascopeanalytics.com/what-we-think/2012/05/01/the-chance-of-a-bust-in-the-nfl-draft
  21. OR maybe Stevie is nowhere near as good as he thought he was. Maybe his stats on the Bills were because he was the only NFL WR on the roster at the time.
  22. As-is the frequent demand for the immortal Ryan Mallett.
  23. Man, I think that you are under valuing how good Watkins is. Yes, ODB had a great season. Watkins had a fine season, too.
  24. Actually it was a surprise that Rodgers lasted until that pick. I disagree that there are many examples. To be sure, there are some examples of very good abs who weren't drafted at the top of round 1, but there really have been very few really good QBs at all - they are very rare and it is often luck when a team finds one or has the privilege of drafting high in a rare year when an obvious great one is available.
