Don't over think things. Nix is looking for guys who can play. The intelligence they need is on the field. Dareus might just be the pick. But I tend to think Miller, Peterson or Newton will be the guy because they have more elite potential. Dareus is the "safer" pick. At #3 I want potential greatness.

There are other good DL who can start or contribute that will probably be available in the 2nd round. There are NO obvious CB prospect's of Peterson's caliber there.

It's not a typo, PFW, like a lot of fans on this board, just don't effin' listen when Nix tells them what the Bills plan is. Then when he does what he said he would do they're all shocked. LoL. But I wouldn't be mad if they took Miller. He fits in any look, including the 34 base-hybrid defense Nix and Gailey said the Bills are going to run.

Because that would be collusion and open up another can of worms they do not want to deal with.

Many times black players are funneled to positions other than QB. I have seen this first hand all the way up through High School. There are black players who want to play QB and eventually get moved to a different position. The only time I did not see this happen is when I played on teams that had no white players. Marlon Briscoe was a QB in Denver back in the AFL days. He did fairly well and was STILL had to move to WR. It has nothing to do with study habits. If white QB's are so much more willing to study why are the Ryan Leaf's, Rick Mirer's, Cabe McCown, Buster Mathison's and hundreds of other white QB's who weren't so hot not become any good? How come nobody assumes they did not stuy? Or did not want to prepare? Sometimes a guy just can't play at a high level and it has nothing to do with preparation or work ethic. Slowly things are changing as athleticism is seen as a necessity at the QB position. The classic pocket passers are becoming relics. But because black QB's have athleticism does not mean they don't have the intelligence to play the position. Or the desire to prepare to play the position. Warren Moon is in the HOF, set all types of passing records, led his team to the playoffs year in and year out and did it while HAVING to got to Canada because no NFL team would give him a chance. Preconceived notions about who should be in charge is why there haven't been many black QB's through the years compared to white QB's. Racism. Simple and plain. Don't try to pass the buck and make it out like it's the black QB's inability or desire to study. For every black QB we see there are several others who did not get an opportunity or a fair opportunity. Watch this if you'd like: What Marlin Briscoe describes was this way up through the 90's. A good number of black QB's do fairly well, particularly, in comparison to the larger number of white counterparts. This original argument is a simple minded one from the start and devoid of any relevant football history. It is full of stereotypes and inaccuracies. But I leave you to believe whatever you choose to believe.

Yes they did and we can go through most teams in the league and find just as many busts on their teams. It's the way of the draft. Their are no guarantees for any team.

They will have to draft a QB eventually and with the way the college game uses the spread, more than likely, that QB will have to ride the bench for a while. We can take the medicine now or take it later, but we will have to take it eventually.

No. His game was never based on his mobility. He's a classic pocket passer. If he goes in 2nd it's because of football knowledge issues or character concerns. He needs to go to a team with a good offensive line.

You don't know Em and 50 to say whether they would fit in around Buffalo. Em is from Detroit and grew up working class. What's the difference? You ever been to Jamaica, Queens? Could be the East side or the North side of Buffalo. The average meat market guy at Wegman's could fit in in Atlanta fine. They don't have meat markets in Atlanta? Or is the average meat market guy in Buffalo supposed to be too ignorant to find a comfort zone in a different place? Come on man. You can't make assumptions that because someone looks a certain way or has certain things or does certain work that he/she wouldn't fit in. The warped mind would find a reason why they shouldn't fit in then act like ass holes, which could make somebody want to leave. But people, generally, will find comfort wherever they are. As far as Denton, wherever that is, so the hell what? That sign or the attitude that created it is in every city/town in the country. If I was worried about that foolishness I wouldn't go anywhere. And I wouldn't go back to BLo and hang out. Plenty of black players on the Bills. In fact most of them are black. They work in OP. Some live in OP and not far from it. They seem to be doing okay. I'm from BLo. I somehow made it out alive and I've been through many predominantly white areas outside the city many times. Imagine that! LoL. End of the day racists are weak minded people. We don't know either guy to say whether they would be happy in Orchard Park or not. Why do you assume Luck would be? Because it's a mostly white demo? Maybe Luck wouldn't like the type of white folk who live in the southtowns for whatever reason. Bills have mostly black players. Where do they all live? Where do they all work? As far as endorsements all he would need to do is get on a plane and fly to wherever the shoot is. Buffalo-Niagara Airport is there for a reason. So folks can come and go and do whatever it is they do wherever they need to do it. If a guy is liked enough by advertisers he can be anywhere. Under Armour gave him a million to wear and market their brand. Before they know where he will go. Obviously they don't care we're he plays. It doesn't matter really. The players potential and ultimately his performance is what leads to national/international endorsements, not where they play. If he does well and the Bills give him the money he wants he would sign. Franchise QB's rarely leave as FA's. Because the team they play for usually pay them. Drew Brees being an exception and he wasn't seen by anyone as a definitive franchise QB when Diego let him walk. He was pretty good, but Rivers was a definite franchise guy. Brees improved and went to a franchise level in New Orleans, but the jury was way out on him in Diego which is why they drafted Rivers and ultimately bid him adieu.

Easy. The best players in the world seem to barely make it through a 16 game schedule as it is. As players have gotten bigger, stronger and faster there are more injuries. Having two more games, but devoid of the best the product has to offer, is worthless. Look at the Colts this season. It Manning, Wayne your uncle and my cousin after a while. They have a perfect thing going right now. They can get rid of two pre season games or reduce prices for pre season games. Also, the NFL is so great, and college ball as well because every week means something. Every game counts. There's not another hundred games to get it right. There's no another 30 games to work out the kinks. The urgency created by the limited schedule in football is a unique thing. If it ain't broke don't try to fix it. BTW, love football, but it doesn't compare to BJ's. That's an apples to oranges argument. LoL

True. I think the speculation comes from looking at Gailey's history of developing non-traditional QB's and him having said the QB position in the NFL is changing toward the mobile QB. It's not hard to think Newton is someone they are seriously looking into. Doesn't mean they will take him, but they are researching him in a serious way. And all of the other QB's as well. Newton's skill set is in Gailey's wheelhouse. He's the type of guy Gailey believes is the future of the QB position in the NFL. He's superior to the "athletic" QB's Gailey has tutored to some success in the past. He's bigger. Faster. Has a stronger arm. And Nix has strong ties to Auburn still (he used to coach there). He will find out whatever there is to find out about Newton. People can hate on Newton for whatever reason they want to, but the Bills need a guy at QB who could be a difference maker and Newton has that potential. He also brings a star quotient to the table. Someone the media is drawn to. Bills haven't had that this decade. If they didn't take Newton I could see Kaepernick in the 3rd round. He's another mobile guy with a strong arm that might develop. None of these QB's will be ready from day one. Most of them come from a spread, one read offense. It's not just Newton. Any of them could bust just like any other player. But with his physical capabilities if Newton does develop he could be a dominant force. As much as everyone loves Fitz nobody is thinking he will be the QB five years from now. And they have to get a QB to develop sooner or later. If they think Newton is the answer I believe they will gladly pull the trigger. Remember, the draft is deep with defensive lineman. There will be good ones in the 2nd round who can start/contribute. They have the second pick in the second round (34), so they could easily go a different direction at #3 based on that. If they take Newton, fine by me. If they take Miller, Peterson, Dareus or whoever, fine by me. The draft is done to get players for today and tomorrow, not just today.

Yeah, Nix said if there's a player they love they'll sit tight and take him. But if that guy is gone then they look at their option which could mean trading down if possible. If Newton was their guy and he goes at 1, there's not telling what happens.

LoL. Miller and Dareus are FAR from marginal talents. Both of them could be gone in the top 5 picks even if the Bills don't use their pick on either guy.

There won't be any statements from anybody in the front office about definitely taking any player. It's not standard operating procedure. No team will tip their hand. Everything is rumor and innuendo. The Bills have stated they need a franchise QB eventually. They have said they will take a QB at some point in this draft if there is one they think will help them. Newton and Gabbert are considered the best QB's available in this draft. Newton is considered the QB with the highest upside of all the QB's. Therefore reporters put him with the Bills at #3. Nix has said he likes Newton, but has to do more work looking into him. But you will never hear a team say they are taking any player unless 1. They are at the top of the draft and try to work out a contract with them before the draft starts or 2. They send the card up to the commissioner during the draft to make their pick. Everything between now and the draft is smoke and mirrors.

Ayers isn't an ILB. He's an OLB. I wouldn't mind the Bills trading down a bit though. I think the best chance of that is with Cleveland if they want to get AJ Green. Would love Von Miller, but if they went Miller in Rd. 1 they need to grab a DL with one of those two second round picks. Cam Heyward might still be there. And Ponder would be cool with me. But I would be tempted to grab an RT or CB with that extra second round pick and grab a developmental QB in rd. 3.

My man, this is just one type of exercise he is doing. And he doesn't look to be missing any meals from the looks of him. When you quit ab training you got YOUR results. Different bodies will respond differently to certain exercises. He knows his body. Let him be.

Whoever they pick they can't go wrong. They need elite talent wherever they can get it. And they can use the other rounds or Free Agency or trades to to improve the defense. Defense could also improve if young players get stronger and improve, which is what we should expect from a Troup, Arrington and Moats.

Who cares what the owners publicly state? What have they done that leads you to believe they are doing any more than the NFLPA to get things done? Didn't they walk away from a session last week? It's good that BOTH sides agreed to mediation.

The players ARE NOT looking for a raise. They are happy with the way things are. The owners say they are losing money and want the players to give back money. IF they are losing money then why can't they open up their books to prove it. If they are losing money the players might work with them. Without players owners aren't making as much money and adding to their fortunes. Nobody made the owners build new stadiums and take on all that extra debt. They CHOSE to do that to try to make more money. Now they want the players to make up for that. The players are the product. No players, no league. No employees, less business. Unless owners can do everything themselves. It's simple really. I don't know how you are mad at the players when the owners are the one's threatening to lock them out. The owners signed the last deal. Maybe they (exception being Ralph Wilson and Mike Brown who said it was a bad deal at the time and got laughed at.) are not as smart as you or they think they are, huh?
