  1. Gug, I hate to pile on, but this business that Manning sucked as a rookie is total utter horse ****. He was amazing as a rookie. The only column of his stat sheet that was negative was INTs, which is the kind of thing you expect to improve with experience. His yds and TDs were off the charts good for a rookie. They were on par with the better veteran QBs of the time. Back then throwing for 4k yds was a really big deal. Now it's just pretty good.
  2. If you start Graham and turn off injuries you don't need Mckelvin.
  3. I don't care which player as long as they pick for a position of need. I know it's a strategy with a long track record of failure, but I think we're due.
  4. We have a top 3 DE, a top 3 DT, and the other 2 are a pro-bowler and a guy coming off back to back double digit sack seasons. The closest team is the Rams, but man for man I think we're better across the line. Mario > Quinn, Dareus > Donald, Kyle >Brockers, Hughes > Long. The only one of these I think is fairly debateable is Hughes/Long.
  5. I'd rather go with Brakepad Bennett, but you take what you can get I suppose
  6. It would be nice to see EJ succeed, not only because he's a Bill but also because he seems like one of the few decent guys in an industry dominated by !@#$s. I'd put his chances at less than 50%, but it would be great if he found a way to put it all together.
  7. I tend to agree with them. We did overpay, although this could be one of the rare instances where overpaying a player works out. Of course, it could go the other way, but the ink has dried so might as well think positive.
  8. Is it no longer acceptable to address posters directly and have conversations within conversations? I just want to make sure I'm up to date on proper MB etiquette.
  9. I'm calling it now. This year the offensive line will be much improved. They will play very well and people will talk about what a big surprise it was. But it won't be a surprise to all of us. Watch and see.
  10. Thinking of Marrone's regret is the icing on the cake.
  11. I'm glad we got him, but that's a lot of cap space he's going to tie up for the next few years. Hope he lives up to it.
  12. That might be a good way to get him out in space.
  13. Warrren Sapp was a monster. He was the best player on one of the best defenses ever - a defense that carried a mediocre offense to a championship. I have no gripes with his induction.
  14. He'll still be there in the 3rd.
  15. Has EJ only started 14 games? Are you sure about that? I'm not saying you're wrong, It's just the first time I've heard it.
  16. I agree, I included your post as a response because I liked your "Hall of Longevity" line.
  17. I think it's great that fans support EJ, but the extent to which some people, often times otherwise intelligent people, feel they need to go to prop him up and defend him is down right creepy. Knowing that people can become that emotionally invested in a guy they don't even know is disturbing to me.
  18. I'm fine with those guys. The ones that irritate me are the ones whose real answer is yes but they vote no because if x then blah blah blah.
  19. I wouldn't put a hard number on it, but I think the greater the individual seasons the fewer that are necessary. 1 or 2 years probably isn't enough because it could be a fluke or just the right guy at the right time, but if a guy is one of the top 2 or 3 guys at his position for a 4-6 year span that seals it for me. Is 3 years enough? I don't know. If a RB had 3 2000 yd seasons and not much before or after does he belong? I'd say yes.
  20. I'm sure we can get him pads that fit better.
  21. If we're analogizing HOF to Hall of Greatness I see no reason why having a 10 year career is a prerequisite and you've not made any argument as to why it should be.
  22. Probably makes for a good message board name too.
  23. My point is that if someone dominates the sport for 4-5 years and that doesn't get them in then that kind of exclusivity makes me think less, not more, of the hall itself. You could be the greatest player who ever lived but not make it because your career didn't pick up until after a few years or because it got cut short early. That's lame.
  24. If that's true then the HOF is lame IMO.
