  1. The Mets lost the series because of the bad karma created by hijacking this thread.
  2. I have a bad feeling about him. Yes, he's white, but how many successful 6'7" QBs can you think of? just sayin.
  3. Neither. Jenny wasn't in love with Forrest but she did care about him. And after being used up, drugged out, and dying of AIDS, Forrest was a safe and comforting place to turn.
  4. 9) Their QB is a N Korean dictator.
  5. I don't know if you missed it but I addressed this earlier. It's not that anyone expected Fred Jackson to carry the team. It's a matter of having a young QB playing behind a mediocre line who could benefit from having the added protection and a check down option out of the backfield, the only other RB on the roster that can do those things had a known injury going into the season, and he cut him anyway. Not to mention it would be nice to have some veteran leadership on a very young unit. With Cassel it's a two edge sword. Either he gave away our veteran QB who may have won us the game, or else Cassel sucks so hard that one has to question why we came into camp with him and EJ as the primary options at QB before TT showed well in camp. Neither scenario is good. And it's not like there was any great upside to either move, but those choices very likely cost us a game, a game we couldn't afford to lose. If those were the only Whaley blunders to date it would not be that big a deal, but for those of us who have been scratching our heads as he went "all in" on EJ after a very sketchy rookie season, it's just another blunder that may have cost us yet another season, and for no real return. I'm waiting for someone to give a real defense of this other than basically saying those guys aren't that great so who cares if they might have helped us get a win even though we got next to no benefit for sending them on their way.
  6. That's kind of the point. When you have inexperienced QBs and a mediocre O-line, and a RB starting the season hurt, and your GM drops the only other RB on your team who can both block and consistently catch passed out of the backfield (so he can keep yet another ST specialist), it makes it harder to just freaking win. Also, check out games missed for FJ and games missed for our guys and get back to me on the injury bit.
  7. Oh come on. Just because you don't like the guy's politics doesn't mean you can't acknowledge his intellect. One of the smartest people I've ever met was a heroin addict. And he was a liberal. A real one too; the kind who lived according to his philosophy. The kind of guy who had stellar academic credentials and could have easily had his pick of high paying jobs but didn't because he didn't want to help rich capitalists make money. The opiates took him into a deep addiction, but they never took his intellect.
  8. I know it wasn't asked if me but I'll answer anyway. 1. Maybe. Depends on TT. 2. An inexhausive list off the top of my head: - Not draft Manuel in the first round. - Not go "all in" on Manuel - Draft Derek Carr or Teddy Bridgewater (which probably only costs us Kouandjio and Richardson) - Not trade a 4th for Bryce Brown - Draft someone other than Watkins and keep a 1st and 4th (definitely could have had Carr or Bridgewater) - Keep Fred Jackson - Keep Cassel - The O-line could be better. Far and away the biggest gripe is QB mismanagement. A lot of good work has been undermined by those decisions. In fairness, if TT is the man or if he solves it next year (if he gets another year) then he may prove to be a great GM, but right now things are looking pretty iffy. Like EJ iffy.
  9. There's an element of truth to that only in that Whaley didn't directly hire Rex, but unless the hire was made over his objection (which is possible. I doubt it, but maybe) it's just a convenient cop out and doesn't really hold water. Plus, he's got a coach who has won in this league without a QB, and an OC who ran top units with the likes of Alex Smith and Kaepernick. Whaley's never accomplished more than a glorified 8-8 season with a coach and QB that quit on him in the immediate aftermath. To me Whaley looks like a house flipper sizeable remodeling budget who bought a house with a solid foundation but was run down and spared no expense to bring that house up to date with the rest of the houses in the neighborhood. He added great siding, a 50 year roof, hardwood floored, carpeting, etc. But with the centerpiece of the house, the kitchen, he went against conventional wisdom and dropped budget on an unpopular concept he thought was going to come into fashion but didn't. Then he dropped a chunk of his budget on flashy things like a hot tub and outdoor fireplace that look cool but don't really get you much ROI. Then he goes balls out on a super swank master bath that's really cool but has leaky plumbing. Then after spending $80k on renovations decided to skimp on appliances to save a few hundred dollars. Then he puts it on the market at top dollar and blames the realtor when it doesn't sell.
  10. He has brought in some good players, but nowhere near the extent you'd think reading this board. I can see an argument for giving him another year (although if we end the year with a losing record you won't hear me make it) in light of the upheaval, but if we don't win 9-10 games next year (and I don't mean 8-8 with a gift win) I see no reason to keep him. His job is to build a winner, not assemble a roster of players that looks like they should be good.
  11. Let's not. I've been pretty critical of Whaley this year, but even I think this is over the top. Whaley's already hearing it. His seat is hot.
  12. It's probably smart not to say why he quit. He most likely quit because he didn't like the FO and how it was being run, along with the belief that he was in demand. Publicly stating those things would damage his already compromised employability.
  13. With our luck that SOB will play til he's 50.
  14. That's true with the primary difference being that Rush would actually ask substantive questions.
  15. This story needs to die.
  16. I hate to pile on because I think this has gotten bigger than it should have, but if you said "to all the black people talking ****, <insert derogatory black stereotype>" do you think the black people who weren't talking **** would be cool with it? Edit: I see Tasker beat me to it.
  17. I think it was a poor choice of insults but hardly unforgivable. He should have someone review his tweets before he sends them. As a culture I think we should view the **** talking Twitter trolls as both contemptible and pathetic. If you're telling a player to kill himself for being injured or not performing to your expectation, maybe you should take your own advice. And if any Twitter trolls are reading this, know that most people have more respect for a 40 year old virgin who plays Magic the gathering and jerks off to anime than they do for you.
  18. I questioned whether the flawed conclusion you were drawing was the product of dishonesty or if you truly can't make the logical distinction between the two. If I knew you I probably wouldn't have to ask.
  19. Clearly you don't get it because you're drawing comparisons between dissimilar concepts, claiming they are similar, and thus hypocritical. First off, working/middle class people are not the same as career minimum wage earners. Secondly, opposing a Federally mandated minimum wage hike is not personally denigrating those who make minimum wage. So are you being dishonest or are you too simple to grasp those distinctions?
  20. Personally, I think people who talk **** to athletes on Twitter are dipshits, and I'm not bothered by his comments because I'm comfortable with my station in life, but I absolutely understand why others are offended. He basically said that he sees middle class people with regular jobs as losers who are beneath him. The "he wasn't talking about me" argument doesn't hold water either. He wasn't talking to you, but he was most definitely talking about you, assuming you don't have a glamorous job making millions.
  21. Either you don't peruse PPP often or you lack the cognitive ability to comprehend what you read there.
  22. If it is the case that he left because Orton retired and Whaley's plan was EJ I can't really blame him. I came after him with a pitchfork when he quit, but maybe I was wrong to do so. The more I learn about Whaley the more I understand Marrone's departure. Assuming, of course, that's why he left.
  23. That's kind of the point. If a guy is a foot off I'm a lot less concerned than if he sailed it 5 feet over his head.
  24. More nuanced analysis is objectively better than less nuanced analysis. I generally prefer to know if it was the result of a bad decision, bad throw, or something else. Then I'd prefer to know how bad the mistake was - was it 2 feet off or ten feet off? Thrown into coverage? Did the receiver run the wrong route or fall down? What were his alternatives? What was the situation? Etc. Just knowing he threw a pick doesn't tell you much.
  25. I've been pretty critical of EJ since midway through his rookie season, but I have to admit that as bad as he was, He played the best football of his NFL career in the second half of that game. Yes, he still made mistakes (threw a would be pick in the end zone) and melted down on the final drive, but otherwise he showed better composure and ball placement than I've seen from him. My theory is that after 3 TOs on 3 drives he knew it couldn't get any worse, thus no pressure, he relaxed and just played football. Then with the game on the line again he felt the pressure and collapsed. What I'm saying is perhaps he's a good QB except for his inability to overcome the jitters. If TT missed more time, I suggest we give EJ xanax before the game and see how he does.
