  1. You think what you just posted amounts to EJ beating out the competition? No other team has ever gone into the season with only rookies at QB except for the 2013 Bills. EJ didn't beat out ****. He didn't even outperform Thad Lewis.
  2. Unfortunately for you we have your posting history to go by.
  3. I, for one, have no problem keeping him on the roster at $2m. I just don't want to go into the season relying on him. If he wins the back up role I'd consider it a bonus. I think part of the criticism (especially from me) is that it seems EJ's always been handed his opportunity rather than winning it. First year - Kolb gets hurt and rather than sign or trade for a journeyman, EJ gets the start. Second year - We go into camp with EJ as the unquestioned starter and no QB competition and no competition brought in because we have the devastating duo of Thad Lewis and Tuel. Only after shutting the bed through camp and the first 1/4 of the season is anyone else given a chance. Third year - Despite losing out to both TT and Matt Friggin Cassel he's still gifted the backup role. I don't personally have much faith in his ability to develop, but if he does well then great. I'd just like to see him win his spot after an earnest attempt to bring in competition rather than have it gifted to him on account of Whaley's undying devotion.
  4. If they single cover Watkins with Revis TT should throw at him all damn day. I haven't watched a lot of Jets football this year, but I heard some guys who did some extensive breakdown of his play this year discussing him and they all agreed that he's still a good CB but not the premier player he used to be. If they want to play as though he is, make them pay.
  5. I pretty much agree with this. I probably attribute more reliance on EJ to Whaley than you, but overall I think you're more or less right. To be clear, I'm not saying that he's been terrible as a GM. Just that I haven't liked the way he's handled the QB position. And moreover that it's a results oriented business and I'll consider him a great GM when he builds a great team, but for now the jury's still out on that.
  6. Drafting a 3 year project in the first, and subsequently going all in on him to the exclusion of better talent, is a pretty horrible strategy IMO. Also, if the need is so urgent that it has to be addressed immediately despite a dearth of talent, how does a 3 year project address that? The two concepts are mutually exclusive.
  7. Fitz aside, with Kolb and TJax there shouldn't have been the sense of urgency that required that kind of reach. And I think looking for who has the most physical talent is an extremely poor way of scouting QBs. Most of the all time greats never get a second glance using that criteria.
  8. It's been said 1000 times already (hell, it's even been said in this thread) - It's not simply missing on the pick that's the issue. It's how much faith and reliance was placed on that pick. Don't tell me this is the first time you've heard this. I see nothing in this post that supports the assertion that Fitz had to be cut, that we HAD to take a QB in the first, or that EJ was the best of the bunch. I would argue that keeping Fitz, even at his high salary, would have been the smarter move, we could have just as easily taken a QB in the middle rounds (there wasn't much clear separation in talent among the top 5 or 6 guys, and that EJ wasn't the best of that bunch (Landry and Glennon have both looked better). Making a desperation reach for, and simultaneously making a long term commitment to, a mediocre prospect because ??? doesn't sound like the work of geniuses to me.
  9. If the Bills make the playoffs I doubt there will be anyone saying bad things about him.
  10. I guess it really turns on the Fitz thing. I just think if these guys are good at running an organization, and especially with Nix about to step down, they could have ironed that out. Plus, everything I know about Fitz suggests he's the consummate professional, and he was well paid AND starting QB for an NFL franchise. I think he's have been fine. But I could be wrong.
  11. "If you start listening to the fans ..."
  12. You don't know enough to make any meaninful contribution to this thread.
  13. I disagree. The phone thing was irrelevant. You could smooth that over pretty easily. Just say you're fishing for info and bluffing about your hand. Plus, he was under contract and is a professional. He's have been fine. Thus, with Fitz already on the team, why reach for a mediocre prospect if you know you'll then be handcuffed to that prospect and thus precluded from exploring other (better) options?
  14. This is another thing that is often stated but never supported. How were the Bills forced to take a QB in the 1st (or even 242nd) that year?
  15. I don't like disingenuous bull ****. That means people who claim that EJ was all Nix despite overwhelming and incontrovertible evidence that Whaley was all over that pick. That also means people who pretend that Whaley going "all in" on EJ isn't the bigger issue. I'm not down on Whaley across the board, but recognizing one's positives doesn't prevent the recognition of his negatives either. And if Whaley's the man why can't you talk him up using the truth instead of distorting the truth to fit your narrative?
  16. No offense, but this is the most annoying fanboy bull **** that gets posted on a regular basis, and you've been around long enough to know better. If TT keeps it up Whaley will be absolved of the EJ pick. But let's wait to see how the next few weeks go before we start sucking each other off. 4-4 is a little early to start celebrating.
  17. Can everyone who talked **** to this guy on Twitter get back online and apologize?
  18. I agree in principle, but I think because they've been written off they win this week and next to put them in the driver's seat for a WC. Then after losing to NE they pull off the improbable clutch win on the road only to lose at home to the lowly Texans, and then dropping 2 of 3 to the NFCE, effectively dashing our playoff hopes.
  19. Can someone who really understands how the cap works with regards to this issue explain specifically how Mario's contract can be "restructured" to save cap space? To clarify, I'm not asking for a vague assessment of how other players have restructured. I'm asking how you restructure a guy with only two years on his contract structured as his is. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/3/17/2880629/mario-williams-contract-breakdown-buffalo-bills http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/mario-williams/
  20. I don't think he's worth anywhere near that, but I doubt his price tag gets close to that level. If I had to guess I'd say he's more likely to max out around $7m/yr, and I think that's after inflating it for playing LT.
  21. I worry that if he does get healthy and start dominating, once his contract is up he'll want to get the he'll away from the fan base that **** all over him for getting hurt.
  22. This is almost exactly what I was going to say. Woods is a good WR that's worth keeping at a reasonable price, but I don't see him as a game breaking talent. And certainly not as valuable as Glenn, even if Glenn's value has dropped a bit.
  23. I don't presume to know that which I have no way of knowing and I don't think a vagina is a license to do whatever you want. IF it were a situation where a crazy B word who kept coming at him after he repeatedly threw her off of him then I don't care that she got banged up and I don't think chivalry has anything to do with it. If she was trying to get away from him and he kept throwing her around then I do have a problem with it. Problem is, I don't know what happened and neither do you.
  24. If he did that to her while she was trying to get away from him it's one thing. If he was throwing her off and she kept coming at him it's quite another. I don't know which (if either) occurred.
