  1. someone, maybe multiple, should have career production years- we will have a certain level of passing production and SOMEONE will catch those passes. will those guys be playing better than they previously have, or will they just be getting volume? That answer will go a long way to defining our offense Brady was drafted in the 6th but is it your business model? also, Watson would be wr1 here also, also, when did their season end?
  2. yea, like I said, top 30 really tough, top 40 with work, right? And I think just yards is a tough metric to rank guys on solely. You know, injuries, poor qb play, incoming rookies. We project his best stretch to 17 healthy games with a top qb but probably a handful of other guys would push up if you did the same. if you just take a list of the top 100 wrs and start sorting ours… it gets hard to push anyone above 40. A few places I’ve seen start our best one around 50, which is basically dead center of the WR2 group (I’ve never thought 45 vs 55 is any real distinction for instance)
  3. so the challenge here: not an insult as I believe both have talent and a spot in the league but… which of shakir and Samuel do you consider a top 30 wr? Honestly, pen to paper are either confidently top 40? It’s hard to get them there. if we don’t have a top 40 guy we are talking average WR2 for our top WR? Unless Keon plays much better than the 8th picked WR should, we are looking at a rough overall room.
  4. its wild to watch him argue definitions but have it fly by him that you can state that someone factually has a stated opinion on the subject. that he ranked them 28 is a fact. That opinion was derived from whatever analysis he made of the various groups.
  5. with average health, they’d instantly be top tier Super Bowl contenders if they add him
  6. By 98 yards you mean like 250?
  7. in 9 games he had 6 carries and 5 catches. I’m not sure you can put any stock into any outcomes of his touches though he did average 10 yards a catch in those 5 plays so I’m particularly stumped by the narrative you gave
  8. truly a puzzling spot. and we are all here because we like to figure out the why/how hit this one was a real struggle. he had the talent to be on the field are we to believe he couldn’t pick up a few packages a week? or did the coaching staff believe anything short of the playbook being 100% wide open with him on the field was unacceptable? but Dorsey is in Cleveland which makes it all the stranger
  9. At this point? Very little and a lot of incentives. probably not worth the headache here but there may be a team out there that appreciates a reliable short yardage contested catch option. hard to think he will age gracefully though, given his current lack of self awareness
  10. I do not believe the coach gets that duty on his own in pretty much any building The roster building implications of long term keepers and cap implications certainly trace back to the GM
  11. I keep echoing: I’d love to know what happened last year. either way, huge questions about why we didn’t at least have a guy added to the practice squad last season
  12. at some point you can’t keep leaning on bad luck
  13. to some degree… imagine having the best point differential and a long playoff streak and landing 10th seems more insult than compliment, right?
  14. the counter: we weren’t alright without a number 1 in those big moments so I guess we will see going forward
  15. our best wr room is always the room we have in June when they are full of potential
  16. yea, the post as an argument is a bit “but ackshuallly” guy as a random trivia tidbit, fine enough, but to argue cost with the entire season running at a fraction of a percent of his salary when paired with the jerseys received are all worth more than the cost is an eye roll
  17. not to be dismissive but I think “maybe he could grow into CB5” is exactly the type of guy that mrags dislikes at some point go get the CB5 and hope between about 25 athletes on the roster, one can develop into a capable returner
  18. Add in milano and this is a primo example of thinking 6-7 guys guys belong it’s the difference between all pro vs pro bowlers. Then add in that pass rushers and pass catchers likely get a bit more representation than off the ball linebackers…you’ll usually see more boundary corners than slot if doing this list the guy probably pulled the all pro list, ranked them and then threw in the biggest names from there (a lot of qbs, pass rushers and WRs)
  19. top 5-7 would put him right on the fringe here. off the ball LB is a tough position in these lists. I’m not saying it’s FB or kicker type of devaluation but its a tougher position to get in and he was out for the year so this years all pros will jump up taron is probably 85-115 kind of range too the real issue is that a lot of folks have 75 guys they think are too 50 and then 100 guy they think are 50-100 we have some guys in that second tier but only Josh in the top group
  20. scenic route to “we have no idea”
  21. I just don’t understand if it’s injury related how they didn’t put anyone on the practice squad at least. just wild to me that they stopped even attempting kicks that should be in the realm of basic expectation but did nothing to try to address it. it’s another of the simple but glaring red flags that I wish we could know the story behind.
  22. because they will restructure hurts in 2029 to push that hit into 2030 and beyond if he’s still a solid starter. 2029 is a trigger, not a reality in that deal
  23. If there was ever a time for the commissioners exempt list…
  24. it’s just eating up a percentage of cap Josh is getting X percentage of cap from the last few years, and dak will likely get a smaller slice of a much bigger pie looking at cap going forward…until Josh re-ups his commitment and gets a larger slice than dak if that larger pie
  25. “dead money” in the cap is generally money you have already paid but hasn’t hit your cap. A signing bonus is amortized over the duration of the contract, up to 5 years. Example - a 10m bonus on a 5+ year deal becomes 2m per year for 5 years in accounting. If you move on from a guy after a year you have to claim that other 8M that you paid at signing in your cap still because you gave it to a player as compensation already. Future guaranteed money can be moved to another team in a trade. If a new team assumes a contract they are responsible for the future cash payments and the cap accounting of those future payments. It only becomes dead money for a team if they cut him and have to pay the future guaranteed dollars themselves.
