I know the BBFS is strong in a lot of you but best case scenario for me is: Beat NE at home (go 1-0 in playoffs versus NE) Beat KC on road (avenge AFCCG loss) Beat Cinci at home (other team to beat the Bills in an AFCCG) or TN on road (MCM revenge) Beat Tampa in SB (obvious) I don't want any part of the Raiders or Steelers.......or Cinci before the AFCCG......those are games the team might not get up for and won't be as fun to beat.

Shaq Lawson possibly returning to Buffalo
BADOLBILZ replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wouldn't be surprised to see Shaq or Jordan Phillips back on a cheap deal next year. They really don't need an edge setter at LDE anymore though.........Groot had a dominant season against the run. "Rousseau made his mark against the run, tallying an incredible 32 defensive run stops, which was tied for the most in the league and far more than any other rookie." -ESPN "best players of the year" feature -
Ralph may have had a "soft spot" for Buffalo..........but it was actually the perfect fit for him as well........people who act like he did the area a favor keeping the team here take for granted how important his legacy was to him. The Bills never moved because of his ego. He not only made himself synonymous with a town and a team........but he lliterally unnecessarily pocketed tens of millions for years, at the expense of the on field product and the fans, ultimately just to fund a charity in his name alone........so he would never be forgotten. He wasn't a good enough owner to consistently field good teams either way so if he'd have gone thru the turmoil of moving elsewhere, he'd have surely disappointed the locals who had no connection to him and just been "that guy" who owned the team before the smart, young owner that bought it after him. Basically like Art Modell.

Give it 50 more years, like with Ralph..........the Pegula kids might have an asset worth a trillion+ (or the equivalent in whatever currency is then).

most underrated move by Beane during his time here
BADOLBILZ replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I never said they were going to try to trade directly up to #7. At this point it was already commonplace for teams to trade up in steps. Trading #21 and #22 would have been a whole lot more value than the Bills got trading down with KC the year prior so they were going to be able to get wherever they needed to reach #7 and do it with relative ease. The problem would have been getting all the way to #2 or #3 overall.........which they were fortunate not to have to because some teams really drafted very shortsightedly in the top 6. Here's an interesting twist to this...............because Eric Wood had to retire, Incognito quit, and Glenn was traded.........the Bills had an absolute train wreck on the offensive line in 2018. Allen took a beating and since that OL was such a cluster*ck it really made it difficult for them to get a good read on the career outlook of a talented young guard who they stole in round 5 that year named Wyatt Teller. Beane subsequently traded the future All Pro guard for a late round pick the next summer. Probably his worst individual move. If the OL consists of Glenn as well Dawkins then perhaps they never deal Teller. -

We aren't talking past each other..........you STRONGLY implied they didn't have the draft capital to trade up for Allen if they hadn't traded Glenn to Cinci. My first point is that is absolutely and obviously NOT the case........disingenuous to suggest otherwise and the exact type of thing you would call me out on(but I don't use such egregious hyperbole). What they saved by dealing Glenn..........they used(and then some) to draft Tremaine Edmunds. I liked both the Glenn trade and the Edmunds pick............but the reality is they could have also not traded Glenn.......traded up for Allen.........and still had the opportunity to select a better MLB than Tremaine Edmunds. -

So you are saying trading the #21 and #22 overall picks wouldn't get you up to #12? Really? Well obviously you're just wrong.........that would have obviously been great value for the team with #12 overall...........so I assume you are confused. Beane also lamented a little bit that Tampa got more than he should have had to pay to move up to #7.......but the way that the Bills picks aligned......Tampa was able to get extra value. And btw Darius Leonard and Fred Warner are the All Pro ILB's that were selected after Edmunds so I don't know what all the other name dropping is about. -

That has nothing to do with it.........they still had the 22nd pick and a second rounder to move up ahead of those teams with. When they made the Mahomes pick trade with KC and later when Beane traded Watkins and Darby they did so expecting to need ALL of those picks to move up to get their QB. As it turned out it didn't cost that much to move up and some dumb teams passed on QB's for runnin' bax and interior offensive lineman. So it wasn't as if they didn't have the ammunition to get up to #7 before that trade............it just allowed them to still trade up for and draft Edmunds.........who has been solid but really unspectacular..........in a draft that produced two legit All Pro ILB's in the 50 picks after him. -

It was a curious trade from Cinci's perspective, that is for sure. But they still had plenty of ammo to get Allen. And there was a degree of luck involved in that subsequently horrible 2018 OL not getting the rookie QB killed. Allen might be the biggest play maker in the NFL.............the assets they saved(and then some) turned into maybe the guy who leads the league in "plays below expectation" in Tremaine Edmunds. -
Stephen Ross wants to know if he gets any comp picks if the Giants hire Flores.

Shaq Lawson possibly returning to Buffalo
BADOLBILZ replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah he's probably trying to see if someone else will give him more than a PS deal.........14 playoff teams.......might be a couple that will give him a real roster spot. I was a little surprised that there weren't more veteran cuts in the last two weeks. Figured that would become more of a trend with non-playoff teams with veterans who aren't in their team's plans but also aren't pending UFA's who contribute to comp pick formula. -
The Shaq thread is killing the traffic to my rumor thread. Mods.........can we have the Shaq thread merged with mine and keep my title?

Do you think the Pats will blitz like the Jets did Saturday?
BADOLBILZ replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wouldn't be concerned at all about the stalled drives from the Jets game............it seemed to me that Daboll was just trying to get Allen a pocket passing game to sharpen that aspect up and not get him beat up. They played the last Patriots game like every drive mattered and punting was not an option so I'd expect more of that. -
The big stat for me is 82 catches both seasons but 53 1st downs in 2020 and just 34 in 2021. He actually had a "vintage" Beasley conversion early in the Jets game......but he has come up short of the sticks over and over this year. Last year he was getting some RAC. They weren't a good RAC team in 2020 either but the WR corps is really lousy wrt RAC this year.

Yep this is at least plausible explanation for the video clip. And I'm sure you don't run up $100K in protocol fines during the year without being a source of irritation to your head coach so it wouldn't be surprising if McDermott was a bit irked with Beasley still being on the field when the team was already lined up to punt. All the covid stuff aside........it's just Beasley being Beasley. He was beloved in Dallas but when he got a top dollar slot-WR contract from Buffalo to leave......he went out of his way to take totally unnecessary shots at the organization/team and then fought with the fans on social media etc.. And that's his home town. That was a red flag right there that he can turn on his own people fast.
-
I saw him pacing and yelling by the benches when I looked back down to see what was happening after the punt. When I came out to the tailgate the guys who sit the lowest were already talking about Beasley yelling "I'm done" by the benches when I walked up. And like I said.......that little bit that was caught on tv at the last second wasn't all of it. I would not have even seen just that interaction on the white if that was it. He was gesturing and yelling toward McDermott before he even got to the sideline. Maybe there was a second incident. I was pretty sure that was the play but I wasn't taking notes and attention quickly turned to making noise on D. I apologize if people are hurt and disappointed because I found proof of something very much like what I said I saw. Bottom line........Beasley looked to be yelling at McDermott. Whether that's important or not is subject to debate. Personally, I assume McD might have been distracted by it in the moment but in general I believe he's probably used to him being a distraction and making things unnecessarily difficult by now.
-
In the video Beasley's head doesn't follow the line judge.........it follows McDermott as he walks past and behind him......the line judge is to the right of his sightline and he never looks back at her...........so it's more likely that he's talking to McDermott. McDermott then paces down the sideline and doesn't even watch the punt go off.

Calling it now: Devin will be a 1000 yard back this year
BADOLBILZ replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes it did. I say this at risk of disbelievers attacking me............but he supposedly hit a top speed of 20.2 mph last night. I know this only on account of the Bills showing it on the scoreboard over and over all night...........it was apparently one of the fastest peak speeds of the day in the NFL. -
Disgruntled Giants fan's got a brand new bag
BADOLBILZ replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Dick Jauron was lucky that most grocery stores weren't offering those full size paper beauties anymore in his day.........otherwise we'd all have been wearing them. You had to go to Niagara County Produce or a farm market to get one of them. Tough break for Joe Judge getting that job in the paper bag revival era. -
Yeah I really wasn't trying to add color to the experience here...........just curious if anyone knew what the hell was going on there. The closest season tickets in our group are among the oldest still around........mid 1960's.........and they are close enough to see a ton of stuff that is never shown on TV and see and hear conversations on the sideline and among the players families etc.. so there are plenty of colorful stories I could share but I know better than that. I once posted about a huge fight in Hammer's Lot among opposing fans........it was right by the road........hundreds of people witnessed it............but when I talked about it here I was told I was lying and a long since banished mod tried to suspend me just for talking about Fight Club. That got overturned quick, I almost didn't know it even happened otherwise I wouldn't have to remind that seat sniffer about it every chance I get...........but I digress.......the moral of the story is too many trolls and jealous souls on TSW to share anything colorful that doesn't come with video evidence, two forms of ID, a crud card and certificate of authenticity from The Franklin Mint.

I believe it's the play but he was yelling at McDermott while he was still in the field of play.......that's why I noticed it........and McDermott was ignoring him. In the clip McDermott looks at him, says something back and then completely misses the punt.........he sure looked distracted by what was going on there.
