For those who attended The Perfect Game live..
BADOLBILZ replied to QB Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Great experience.........one of the top 5 home games in Bills history. I just got home, waiting for nyquil to kick in. Cold was no problem if decently prepared. Wore no cover on my face and didn't need to. Spectacular, crisp, full-moon night. No wind, no problem. Put vaseline on feet, one pair normal socks, one pair insulated, hot hands toe warmers on each side........4 pairs long underwear and snow pants.......several undershirts, a hoodie, Bills T shirt over hoodie and open winter jacked and a winter hat and light mittens. Hoods down. It wasn't bad at all and I consumed no alcohol so no nerve blocks. Never felt cold except for a few minutes where the ice cold concrete(as @MattM mentioned) got into the cheap slide-on $20 snow boots I picked up yesterday at Wal Mart but I just stood with one heal off the ground back and forth for about 10 minutes and the warmers got my feet toasty again. I forgot the cardboard I intended to bring in for the concrete. Got to gate at 8:01...........line was long but fast.........got to seat about 2 minutes before kickoff. Got to tailgate at 3:45........our group set up 6 tents and tarped 3 sides and we had a 220K btu salamander so the tailgate was about 55 degrees per thermometer under the tent but lot's of us just mingled around the open yard and we had a good burn barrel going to(the lot was pretty full and people were clearly tailgating much earlier than us on the drive in to OP)...........about 25-30 people at our own tailgate..........burgers, dogs, pulled pork, garlic salt potatoes, meatballs, Pizza Oven(Lockport) pizza and Paula's donuts and hot Tim Horton's coffee and hot chocolate.........had first game on the antenna............it was a great tailgate........finally no wind or rain. Second tailgate lasted til about 1:30 am..........got home about 3.- 93 replies

When it's too cold for them.. it's just RIGHT for us

I live next to a lake and the ice is expanding so fast it sounds like distant fireworks or high tension wires snapping...........it's getting real out there. -
I am planning a pop-up Waffle House behind Hammer's for postgame..........menu depends on what's left over on the grill............but still the same $8 for a shot glass of orange juice.

As a fellow Miami Hurricane fan I hate to do this to you..........but that was weird.

He seemed physically fine. Then he got up and walked back normally to the vehicle. It was just like he was ignoring everyone. He was a cold zombie.

One of the guys that was with us showed up in jeans, sneakers and a wind breaker. About midway thru the 3rd quarter he became unresponsive despite seeming to be alert and still watching the action. At the end he got up and silently walked to the car and sat in the back seat just staring forward into space and not answering anyone. We later found out that this is something that happens to a lot of people before they freeze to death. So keep an eye out for that folks. The same thing happened to one of the players on the Raiders sideline.........they just piled coats on him and left him there not knowing why he wasn't answering them. Since that time there have been a lot of advancements..........the clothing tech is MUCH better, the hand and foot warmers that you put in your shoes and gloves work a lot better and are still cheap and automobiles operate a lot better in the cold.................shouldn't be nearly as dangerous but still there will be some who suffer and hopefully nothing tragic happens.

Exactly. It's the right move for the Texans. Culley wasn't the future and the next HC now has a chance to actually come in and not have HIS process undermined by a dreadful first year. I said it at the time...........Dick Jauron did a great job changing the culture in Buffalo in his first year...........they went from a sloppy, rudderless, penalty-prone mess under Mularkey to a keep-it-simple and execute team under Jauron.........which was THE PERFECT TIME to make a change.

Crazy circumstances too........the Bills were in line to be the #1 seed with a bye, they just needed to beat Houston in the finale..........but were blown out 27-3 Sunday December 27th by that Oilers team that knocked the Bills into an unexpected January 3rd WC game.........add in that Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas were both injured in that game and knocked out of the WC round and Cornelius Bennett was also sidelined. So a crazy let down and turn of events and they had just 4 days to manually sell about 40K tickets for an unexpected game for a seemingly terrible matchup.........which meant people getting in crazy lines around the stadium in the cold. Only a cluster of epic proportions like that lead to that not being sold out in time to not be blacked out. Bills gave up 62 points to the Oilers without scoring a TD over those 6 quarters of football.

I've quoted the ESPN article the other day in other threads about the best players of the year at any position where they gave Rousseau the nod as the best rookie edge/DE..........but they also noted that Basham finished second in pressure rate per snap among rookies(Rousseau ranked third). PFF data of course so some will highly discount it.......but it's interesting at least and reflects that while Rousseau and Basham weren't overwhelming hits as rookies.........they seem to have scored extremely highly versus their peers, including many players picked ahead of both of them. -

You should be good with the battery powered socks..........they will run the metal wand over your shoes/boots and assume it's the grommets on the shoes/boots tripping the alarm. @Captain Caveman I'd suggest loosening your boots and sliding them in there. If they find metal on you above the shoes they are likely to get pinched. -

We will have to agree to disagree.........they had the 22nd pick in their pocket..........the 21, 22 and the picks dealt to Tampa gets them to #7 overall most years and they still had more value to deal from. My point about the rest of the draft has as much or more validity as the concept that they didn't have enough ammo to move up......even if just in the context of using 2018 picks only. They used their savings on a lesser MLB(so far) than Darius Leonard or Fred Warner.......what are the odds of 2 All Pro MLB's being picked after the second one came off the board in a draft(it's likely never happened before and Roquan Smith is better than Edmunds too)..........and the chaos caused by the atrocious state of the Glenn-less 2018 OL likely impacted the evaluation of Teller........their 5th round pick in that 2018 draft. So while the Allen pick was a HR or HR's.......aided by several extremely dumb, shortsighted decisions in the 6 picks in front of them.........how they utilized the savings and the subsequent OL performance in 2018 were factors in lowering the potential value of that draft. Imagine netting an MVP candidate and 2 other All Pro players(say, Warner, who the Bills were high on, and Teller) out of one draft..........they were thisclose to that. I am a big fan of Beane's 1st round work in general...........since 1990 there has never been a situation where I was pleased with any 2 consecutive 1st round picks by any Bills GM at the time...........and I've really liked all of his........excellent work, IMO. His second round work has been consistent with every other Bills GM..........the only time they seem to nail round 2 is when they don't have a pick in round 1.........which I think is because they get carried away drafting for need when it's much too early to start doing that. -
This feels like deja vu.............didn't he get robbed of his gear before in recent years and somehow they got it back?

As the slot receiver he's always been "the quick outlet under pressure" in Buffalo. That's what he's been basically his entire career, in fact.........and he's almost always been MUCH more productive than this year in ypc. One of his gripes he had about being in Dallas was that they "only threw to me on 3rd down"..........implying that they only gave him the chance to make small plays but with all of the pressure on him. Talk about just arguing for the sake of arguing.

No doubt it was a good deal. It was being oversold as the only way to skin that cat though............and neglecting that a lot of luck was involved in Allen slipping to #7. To me...........I just appreciate a Bills GM/HC/Ownership combo actually agreeing that they should trade-up-from or use that original first round pick to take the QB they deemed the best for the first time in 58 years. Adding hyperbole to the origin story is unnecessary. -

He only played 2 full games in 2019.........he was really showing out though. Yeah they weren't the same front afterward. -

He didn't cash in on the pass rush party. It's my opinion that he has been dealing with turf-toe or something that's hindering his power.........he hasn't been the same since that KC game......I suppose it could also be a rookie wall.......he only played one season in college and if the Bills advance deep in the playoffs he will have played basically twice as many games as he did in that one season at Miami when you factor in all the preseason/regular/postseason games. He hasn't been nearly as impactful rushing the passer since that KC/Tenn period............but by the same token Groot tied for the NFL lead with 32 run stops on the year so he's been very productive. -

He really was trending this way before he hurt his knee though..........he was A LOT better than Star Lotulelei already at that moment in 2019. Took a lot longer to get back there than expected...........but he was a tackling machine at Stanford even though he was a 0 tech nose tackle............his senior year at Stanford he had 98 tackles 17 TFL and 7.5 sacks.........which were basically Star's stats for his entire career at Utah. -
We will be there with bells on So excited for the first game of the year without rain!

Modell was a people pleaser..........Ralph was selfish. Modell couldn't say no to anyone..........he wouldn't play hardball with Cleveland and the city knew it so they kept putting the Browns stadium on the back burner.......... then the city literally built a "hardball" stadium for the tradition-poor(but trending upward) Indians when the Browns were playing in a total dump..........Modell was in debt up to his ears from bad business deals, loans he gave out to deadbeats and grossly overpaying players and staff to make everyone like him.........and finally he had to slip out of town in shame. It was probably Modell's worst nightmare. People think Ralph just objected to the Browns moving..........I think he was mostly just disgusted by Modell's very different business acumen and resented the fact that the Baltimore deal bailed his sorry ass out. Ralph had his flaws but he wasn't going to ruin his franchise just to make people like him........he looked out for #1 and that did serve to keep the franchise profitable. And keeping the team in town and his Ralph C Wilson charitable foundation will ensure that his legacy endures LONG after those of us who know what he was actually like as an owner and endured his mercurial stewardship will be alive to tell about it.

There was no "original trade"..........they traded with Cinci to move up weeks before the draft..........nothing was close to set in stone that early. What part of "their was plenty of draft capital to move up to #7 overall without the Cordy Glenn trade" do you NOT get? Like I said..........they accumulated all of the 2018 picks in 2017 thinking that they might need all that capital to move up for their QB of choice.........and it would have cost ALL of that and perhaps multiple early picks in subsequent years......and been worth it..........had Allen not fallen out of the top 3.
