  1. It's been longer than 20 years. John Butler was an excellent scout but that dude was terrible at caponomics and even worse at selling the team to the fans. He'd get on his TV show with that white snot in the corners of his mouth and talk about how he didn't care if fans showed up or not. The Bills have always needed an executive style GM first and foremost because their owners have always been bad or green at running a football team itself, let alone football operations. He fit that bill right off the bat and has gradually grown into the scouting/personnel aspect.
  2. Good question........because it's not because Allen has won an MVP, been to 4 straight AFC championships and 2 Super Bowls, won a Super Bowl and eliminated/defeated Mahomes in the postseason the past two seasons.
  3. Yeah I'm not the thread police but I wasn't aware we were starting threads for random tweets from every obscure Buffalo sports pseudo celeb.
  4. You are a fan of New England pro sports teams........the ultimate sin of a WNY sports fan...........and you have literally whined on TSW about us criticizing your fellow Mass-hole sports fans. As if there is any difference between the fans of the Patriots/Celtics/Bruins/Red Sox. There ain't. So don't try to act like you are captain Buffalo you traitor. 😂
  5. And anyone telling Bills fans not to talk ***** about the worst team in pro sports over the last decade better be a season ticket holder to the Sabres. Douchebags who don't put their money where their mouth is but act like they are the Sabres #1 fan are as useless as t!ts on a bull.
  6. Before you get too carried away with the idea that Alien is the most ripped off film of all time..........it might never have been made if the original screen adaptation of Dune in the mid-70's had actually been produced. Alien was the best of the movies that were heavily influenced by the years of work on Dune and it's sprawling storyboards. It stole the soul of Dune and delivered a great but only bite-sized movie experience that Dune couldn't be reduced down to. I like Aliens a lot too but the rest have missed the mark. The Prometheus movies had a lot of potential but somehow they blew it. Even Prometheus was still ripping off or paying homage to Gigers art for Dune though
  7. Didn't even know he was sick. RIP Conehead.
  8. Shields kept playing thru some pretty bad concussions. It was sad to watch. Couldn't believe he tried to play again after the last one but it's hard to quit.
  9. I agree with your point about overpaying for production at premium spots. You need it. They are really piling up some cap debt though. I hope Tua keeps it up and gets $40M plus as well and the Fish have to go Saints-mode. Injuries happen but you have to like the durability of the Bills at QB/LT/Edge versus what Miami has.
  10. Yeah I'm not concerned about Chubb. He's not elite.......he essentially replaces what they had had with Ogbah before he fell off a cliff this season. And at the expense of a first round pick that is of course cost controlled, important as they are really piling up some bad cap numbers. Worked out great for the Broncos..........his trade value with that fat, fully guaranteed 5th year option was zero last offseason. I hope Miami extends him in-season at the top of his market. Edit: See I missed the contract extension. Excellent. That's a lot of money invested in players with significant injury histories at LT and Pass Rusher.
  11. If winter is one of the few things that keep you living here you are probably addicted to feeling sorry for yourself.
  12. I'd put the over/under on how many times Hodgins will be riding waivers again in the next two seasons at 6. Surfs up.........headed to NJ
  13. In that 2020 season WC playoff game versus Indy he was the quickest, fastest player on the field. Gave the Bills defense fits. I rarely get moved by the play of a RB but he was explosive that day. He has been playing in exactly the WRONG offense for his skillset.
  14. Yeah I value those picks. I think the relative success rate they've had late in the draft is a reflection of Beane not drafting as needily on day 3. I think there is a tendency for teams to focus on the first round pick for months and then after the emotional conclusion of that quest get a little careless and needy on day 2. It's almost a Bills tradition at this point, regardless of GM. Their 2nd round track record in particular is terrible in seasons where they also have a first round pick. But they will have the opportunity to acquire more of those with trade backs for volume to fill pending roster vacancies. I could also see them trading some players they know they won't be able to extend a season early in coming offseasons. The way they do business will naturally have to change.
  15. Now don't categorize all fans that way...........I got home from the game Monday and I had a notification from screwball going by @MasterStrategist calling me out after McKenzie put up a spectacular 14 yards on two touches. Man that gameday thread is a den of idiocy. 😂 I am a known scoffer of RB impact and the idea of a RB being "another WR" on the field............but Nyheim Hines is electric and far more coordinated than the stiff, hard-handed Lil' Dummy. No, he's not a $10M/year slot receiver either but the price was right and he gives them more versatility and gets a rookie and hopefully McKenzie off the field on special teams. He's also just quicker and more elusive in pass routes than James Cook. Cook is closer to a volume carry RB than him. They are not redundant, IMO.
  16. Hodgins is also a cadaver. The bottom of their depth chart is like the bottom of the Bills depth chart. It's the top 2 receivers where they are different.
  17. I took a look at the standings last night and thought.........Nyheim Hines should be a cheap target. Always liked his explosiveness. Had a big game against the Bills in the 2020 playoffs.
  18. Oh so there isn't going to be an offseason with free agency and a draft this year?
  19. Phillips has always hated taking on blocks and he plays high so he has terrible leverage and is easily steered out of the way. He's all about shooting gaps and chasing and he's excellent when he can just do that. I thought Jones really got pushed around last night too, surprisingly. Run defense is all about want-to and technique and though they were determined to stay in nickel it's fair to say there were still a lot of business decisions going on out there. Milano might have been the only obvious exception. They were clearly expecting a night off in run defense.
  20. More like every year some idiots on TSW complain about all the "hype" for the trade deadline and every year trades that move significant players and picks happen in the NFL. It's not the NHL/MLB/NBA where teams trade for a player and can put him in the starting lineup 6 hours later and expect results.........if those people understand that difference and are still getting too" hyped" that's a them problem.
  21. Yeah Bills fans got a little reminder about why Davis isn't a 1B receiver and Knox isn't anywhere near elite. They are nice players but the Bills would benefit most.....at the least expense.........by more help at receiver. The Packers came into last night determined not to get blown out but they DO get blown out and have to pass the football if those guys don't have a couple of their obligatory WTF? games. Those 2 left A LOT more yardage on the table than any different RB than the Bills have would have........that is for sure.
  22. Eagles are in a great position to do that.
  23. What I mean is that drafting blockers earlier would only address the problem for those specific teams that do it........not the league as a whole. And it hasn't really proven to be a winning strategy........ask the Colts and the Cowboys about how far first round interior OL......and getting good play from them......... took them in the SB hunt. I don't see where using early picks on OL will make more of them appear. It's not like they don't get paid well in UFA. They do. There is just likely to be the same amount of OL talent entering the league either way. It's not like the QB or WR positions......or a lot of the defensive positions........where those guys might be making a business decision between playing different positions in football or different sports altogether like baseball or basketball. Money has drawn those type of athletes to the big $ positions in football. OL don't have those options. It's like RB.......there aren't a lot of other sporting opportunities in the US for 5'7" 210# dudes who run a 4.6 40.
  24. There was a pretty substantial period of time........about a decade.........when Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees were playing at a level miles above everyone else.
  25. Has nothing to do with drafting. If it did then there would still be have's and have not's with regard to OL play..........and there aren't any have's. It's a practice and continuity issue.
