  1. Yeah I think that seemed a given when we saw him play early last season. Very high ceiling. But since his back issues became publicized and he started missing time his trajectory in pass pro has flatlined. Contrary to his RAS profile his feet are lethargic at the snap and that can be very much a result of back pain and stiffness. I mentioned in another thread that, either way, he might be a RT only. The Bills tried to move Erik Pears to G in 2014 and he basically spent the season getting jacked up and pushed into the backfield. Niners moved him back to RT and he finished out his career with 16 starts at RT in 2015.
  2. He's a nice complement to a roster with a lot of dynamic passing game play makers while playing across from the league's best and most physical defense. But he's had just three 1,000 yard rushing seasons in 6 years..........and the Niners didn't spend the 1st round pick on him either. On a per-play basis.........he's actually been slightly less productive running the ball than Devin Singletary in their careers............and while he is a really good receiver for a RB his per play numbers are well below that of expectation for a good slot receiver. The team that did use that first rounder on him only got worse as an organization for investing so much in him.
  3. I will say that it's excusable that fans are just ball watchers who don't understand how the LOS impacts the game or why edge/island positions are so individually valued/important. The Bills problem until his death was that their owner Ralph Wilson was a ball watcher and couldn't get himself enough RB's.
  4. No, it's clearly not about balance. It's just about outscoring the opponent............and that's done primarily thru the passing game.
  5. That guy doesn't exist. When an NFL defense wants to stop the run and knows it is coming there isn't much any RB can do about it. How many times people gotta' see Derrick Henry fizzle out late in the season to understand that even the most talented RB of his generation can't consistently change games once the playoffs arrive? Too many RB lovers still living in the 20th century.
  6. The position matters A LOT with regard to BPA. RB's are the least important individual players on offense........no position requires more to go right at so many other positions for them to be successful. Additionally, the RB obsessed get continuously fooled by the quality of these modern versions of the position. They may look like a 10 year bell-cow RB of old but they are the Barry Foster and Kenny Davis of yesteryear. Guys who can't make it at other positions and lack the ability to sustain more than a fraction of the workload of RB1's of yesteryear. That's why these RB1's flame out at 26 instead of 30 now. Exceptions are few(Derrick Henry and that's about it right now). When Willis McGahee IV is drafted as an edge rusher in 4 years maybe some of you will start to realize that the RB position doesn't get those kinds of players any longer. They are steered to defense or the passing game on offense.
  7. Basham and Epenesa are DL. You are responding to a post about the need for OL. RB is not a premium position.........using early picks on non-premium positions is a recipe for regret. When you reach the point where you are drafting late 20's or early 30's every year and you are paying a franchise QB you really gotta' get premium position players outta' those early picks. The Bills got lucky a few years ago when KC drafted a RB in round 1. This past draft they went DE and CB1 in round 1......both premium positions...........and then were able to find excellent value later in the draft at lesser positions like RB and TE. They got a Cook-type player in Pacheco who is a stud RB in round 6. Pacheco might actually have been the best player in college football but being a RB........a position where success relies mostly on blocking.........he had terrible numbers and fell under the radar.
  8. Yeah they guaranteed him an extra $26M to get him to report to the Bills..........then McBeane had to give him $2M to keep his mouth shut and be a good soldier in summer of 2017. Be nice to have that cap space back about now. Even just the $2M McBeane wasted. The Eagles had already given him a good contract that wasn't set to expire until 2017. Bills had him under contract for 3 years when they acquired him.
  9. Why do people go so far out of their way to watch/listen to "FS1" and those generic/knockoff brand versions of ESPN talking heads?
  10. First Gallagher........then Ron Jeremy loses his marbles.......now this. Been a bad runna' luck for the ol' 70's hedgehogs.
  11. Got the figure from Lester Holt on NBC news last night. Point is.........not being able to afford it doesn't prevent people from spending anyway if they want it. And people who can afford more also don't always spend that way. I didn't have two nickels to rub together when the Bills were in the SB last and almost went anyway. I'd have a beer with you but we are in a club area not sure if they allow normal fans. 😉 My understanding is @SoMAn would be joining us if the game happens.
  12. Yeah one of the guys in our group bought 6 in upper deck and figures he will sell any he doesn't use for $1K apiece and make a profit. That wasn't his intention......he will probably give away a couple to his friends kids who are too young to otherwise afford it........and maybe some of our tailgate group will buy the others.
  13. As a season ticket holder who knows lot's of fans for whom $10K-$20K is either a major object or not...........I assure you........both groups of people still make business decisions over a grand or two. The lower bowl was full of young rando's last week because a lot of the veterans decided it wasn't worth flying or driving a long distance into town to attend a game we were expecting to win. That's why ticket prices dropped. You might want to consider that your status as a lone wolf fan who thinks that "normal" fans wouldn't put themselves in debt to see a SB is not based on much fact/experience. The average household in the US is over $150K in debt. FWIW........our group has 15 tickets to the prospective game in Atlanta.......it's possible I have a broader perspective on how it works.
  14. The presumption is that MOST fans won't be going alone. Most season ticket holders have multiple tickets on their account. Flying and spending two nights in town to sit in a single in the end zone is you doing you for "under $1K". As for people who have $10K also having $1K.........that's not the only factor. People have to take time off from work etc.. I assure you there will be lot's of "normal" fans at the Super Bowl. There always are.
  15. I personally doubt it makes any difference...........but I think the superstitious people should suck extra hard on their thumbs just in case.
  16. Why would you doubt that? Why drop $2K-$3K on a trip to Atlanta for the Chiefs 5th straight AFCCG when you can apply that money toward a SB trip?
  17. Maybe. Many, including the Bills, thought 6'8" Erik Pears would be better at G when he was moved there from RT in 2014 as well. He wasn't. He had a hard time getting leverage and got shoved around by the bigger DT's. He returned to being a starting RT for SF in 2015. It's hard not to see Pears when you watch Brown out there. Same size/frame.......same number........same issues in pass pro. I am more inclined to keep Brown at tackle and let him at least compete for the RT job next season.
  18. Yeah Chiefs fans have been to 4 straight AFCCG and beaten the Bills the past 2 seasons in the playoffs..........so they are likely assuming Super Bowl and saving their cash for that. Now if the game had been in Vegas..........with the $45 flights from KC to LV all day..........yeah that might have been different.
  19. His first season in Buffalo he was most certainly a distraction..........his fixation on Kelly and his old team carried well into the season culminating in him being humiliated/shut down by his former coach/team in a devastating late season loss for the Bills playoff hopes. He famously stayed behind in Philly when the team returned home. Soon after his lousy first season in Buffalo ended with an injury. That offseason he and his buddies assaulted some cops back in Philly and he finally bottomed out with is careless/selfish behavior and dedicated himself to being a good teammate and had one last good season before he hit the wall and became a sub-league average ypc RB. Nowadays he's all about his Philadelphia Eagles. He has shot down any idea that the Bills are as good as his Eagles this season. No idea why they brought him back to lead the charge recently. The Bills got 1 very good season out of him and paid him for 5. It's like the Dolphins bringing in Thurman Thomas to lead the school of fish or whatever sh!t they do.
  20. It's reality.
  21. My father was a Giants fan before you were even born so don't give me some bullsh*t about why association with Yankees fans or friends of your son has any relevance to this discussion. Despite being twice as far away from New Jersey than they are from Buffalo the Giants organization competes with the Bills for fans in the Southern Tier and CNY. People who have little in common with residents of NYC or NJ.........and A LOT in common with Bills fans. It's a problem. Regionalization of the Bills franchise remains important. My loyalty is to the Bills only........so that alone is enough to wish the f*cking Giants decades of irrelevance and failure(like the Jets). The SB defeat is not "irrelevant"...........but the spawning of Parcells and Belichick..........who combined to kick the Bills in the teeth regularly for almost 30 years....is much more significant. They helped make the Bills a laughingstock. That's not irrelevant to me. I respect the Giants organization and Parcells and Belichick. When the score is evened I will be fine with rooting for them. Not likely to ever happen because they did vast damage to the Bills.........but I will keep rooting for their failure until it does. Do you have ANY rivals that you think are worthwhile to root actively against???? Must be not. Few organizations have done more damage to the Bills than NYG.
  22. We had a game balls thread where you could have shared your thoughts on his play TODAY. Plenty of players had very strong games. Only an idiot would think that starting a dedicated thread about his performance in a game against a lousy rookie QB would become a discussion about the big picture of his play or his future with the Bills.
  23. Edmunds is playing at a level NOW.......in year 5........that he should have been playing at in year 2 or 3 based on his draft pedigree. When you draft uninstinctive players that take a long time to develop you end up having to make late decisions on said player and they are more likely to end up elsewhere. He still has tons of room to improve as a playmaker and pass rusher but he will likely be doing that elsewhere..........and for $20M per year.........that's fine with me. I've never once thought......"how will this opponent deal with Edmunds"........he's not been that kind of player and an excellent game versus Skylar Thompson isn't an excellent game against Mahomes or Burrow etc..
  24. No, don't care. And f*ck the Giants too. I don't understand the screwheads who root for teams just because they have former Bills employees on the team/staff/FO. The Giants beat us in the SB we should have won and spawned Bill Belichick who totally dominated us for a couple decades. They also compete with the Bills for fans in central NY.......less than 100 miles east of the stadium........which f*cking blows and hurts the bottom line. They are a definite top 6-7 team that Bills fans should wish to see fail.
  25. The 2020 Buccaneers had their version of this game against the 7-9 Washington football team in the WC round on their way to a SB title.
