  1. He can be a good bell cow now. We will see him all day.
  2. Johnson is a good depth piece. I dont expect any drop off to the Bills run game.
  3. As many have said when he's on there is quite simply nobody better. He's been compared to Favre based on his remarkable skillset and gunslinger mentality. The Bills are trying to manage his aggressiveness by having him execute from the pocket and that remains a work in progress. If he cannot continue to mature and develop above the shoulders within the offence they want him to run it may well be that the Favre comparison winds up being even more accurate. Favre´s career was up and down with incredible highs and quite a few head scratching lows, some mediocre seasons and some gut wrenching turnovers ( even when he was playing well).. Sometimes I get resigned to the opinion that that is what Josh will serve up rather than executing at a high level with consistency. Of course Favre is an all time great and fully deserving of his admission to the HOF. Allen is not less talented than Favre and with any luck he will win a championship. There is every reason to think that Allen can follow the same path as Favre. Of course Josh is a bright guy and while IQ, even football IQ, is not necessarily the same as QB processing speed, there is a chance he can actually get even better. Mahomes is a great player but I'm not sure that with an offensive minded HC like Reid Josh might not have turned out even better than he is or with the Bills that Mahomes would be nearly as successful as he's been in KC. Mind you the Bills have so done a good job developing Allen. They haven't done to him what the Colts did to Luck, a great QB that will never make the Hall.
  4. Caleb is listed at 6'1" and 215, so if that's accurate he's shorter and lighter than Mahomes. I wouldn't be surprised if some GMs have concern about his durability as a dual threat QB at the next level. Maye is also quite capable of helping himself with his legs except he's around 6'5" and 235 LBs. No doubt that Williams's ability to improvise recalls Mahomes but there is plenty of tape of Maye extending plays and making off platform throws. it will be interesting to see how teams will evaluate these guys when decisions have to be made.
  5. Right. We're fantastic. As far as getting to the bottom of things you post reminds me of those that cited the stats showing how Frazier's D was the best ever. Well let's just hope that the playoffs just happen to be "on" days for Dorsey & Co.
  6. Its because the O grossly underperforms at least as frequently as it fires on all cylinders. Dorsey.needs to find some consistently because without that you have no chance of winning a championship.
  7. McD is a defensive HC and specialist. I really don't think he has much to contribute to the other side of the ball. That's not really a negative criticism. Its an achievement to be one of the best defensive minds in the game. Its really hard to do and that's a major advantage for the Bills. Given a choice I'd rather not lose that. What the Bills and McD need to do is find and fully empower a qualified offensive coordinator and give the offence as much importance as the D in drafting and recruiting players. Maybe Dorsey is that guy, maybe not, but whether he can develop or not hiring an inexperienced guy from within at this time in particular was bound to set the team back. Its just pure speculation on my part but I have to wonder whether relying on a limited coaching talent pool is driven by McD's lack of confidence and desire for control. Hope not because if that's the case then I say he's got to go. Not that I think Terry would go there.
  8. Bills make for an interesting case study: a team that can go out and play like one of the best and next up play like one of the worst. A lot of that can only be coaching.
  9. I get the impression Wilson is settling down a bit, just enough to hang on by his fingertips. He's standing in the pocket better and making better throws. Seems to see the field better. Its not saying much but just maybe he's starting to turn the corner. Breece Hall is a helluva back. D is legit, like the Browns.
  10. For sure he can operate as a system QB in the right system esp Miami/SF. He's more versatile than that imo but then his true comparable becomes Gardner Minchew plus instead of Joe Montana. Still a very good player. Is Tua any better?
  11. Before London and with McD at the helm I could see it top 5. Not sure where we are now but it's not the same place.
  12. Mac Jones and Trey Lance have, or have been thought to have, different skill sets. Mac Jones and Brock Purdy have pretty much the same skill set. They both have average arms, are good but not great athletes, are accurate, are good at reading defences, going through their progressions and making good quick decisions. Purdy is still better than Mac but the difference in outcomes is largely due to what they have to work with and what they are asked to do. Kyle says he came within a whisker of drafting Mac at the top of the draft. Sure he's terrible in NE. I think he'd have had a much better career so far in San Fran and should be able to do a lot of what Purdy has done. This is also why I say I hope that whatever teams drafts Maye or Williams they know how to develop them and put them in a position to succeed. Not comparing Purdy to Montana but he has the skills to be very successful in Shanny's offence and I don't think that's going to change.
  13. If the Bills could have gotten him by sending a late round pick next year (or even maybe the year after) but didn't then they are not in any way interested. If a late round pick couldn't have gotten it done even if they tried then maybe his release was part of the deal that saw him agree to reduce his compensation (and cost to Denver) to facilitate his going to a specific team he wants to play for and which is in on the deal. I would agree with those who see KC as the likely suspect.
  14. Mahomes: You hit me! Macmillan: Come here and I'll hit you again.
  15. He's an experienced physical player. His experience includes playoff experience in which he has been very productive. I assume he's now healthy but as far as current year production is concerned he's only played in two games (hip kept him out 3 games) and some 40 snaps. That tells you absolutely nothing about who this player is. Rather I'd look as his production as recently as last year, which was normal for him .Note especially his 2.5 sacks in the playoffs. If we are talking about a Broncos pass rusher that I wouldn't have touched with a barge pole , that would be Randy Gregory. Frank Clark is a veteran money player with probably lots left in the tank. He's not a building block for the Bills but he'd be excellent in a playoff run - at least that's the bet you would be making. Pretty good one imo. Of course I doubt the Bills go there. They may sometimes be conservative to a fault.
  16. Well they did their best. The refs I mean. Lots of time.
