  1. Josh actually made a couple other throws similar to this in the game where he was a half step ahead of the closing coverage, coverage that he did not throw over but through. The Davis throw was one that few if any other NFL QB even attempts, or if he does he gets picked, but obviously even other worldly arm talent is not always going to beat an NFL secondary when executing decisions like that. When I saw it my feeling was mostly of relief. And I wondered if Josh just doesn't see the safer option or always consciously opts for the bigger play.
  2. Nobody wants Allen taking unnecessary hits. But he can make much better use of his mobility and playmaking ability than he has in Dorsey’s offence. Its not that he can’t execute from the pocket. He can and should. Nor does it mean that the Bills shouldn’t rely on their RBs more. He has the ability to be creative as a playmaker with the ball in his hands outside the pocket. I think as a physical player he needs that to get the best out of his game. This doesn’t make him a running back, just a more impactful quarterback.
  3. You know throughout the 4th quarter end of game I kept saying to myself "Payton must be getting a big kick out of this. Wonder how long and exactly how he will lower the boom on McD." Honestly.
  4. Actually I thought it was worse than that. People are criticizing Taron for not turning his head around, fair enuf but the problem occurred long before. Jeudy got about 5 yards of separation on Taron off the snap. I don't think Broncos were throwing up a lollipop looking for a flag. If the ball had not been badly under thrown Jeudy would easily have sailed into the end zone untouched. Taron is a good player that does a lot of things well but I wouldn't see him in man vs Jeudy. He just doesn't have that kind of foot speed to stay with a guy like that. Maybe McD was expecting a crossing pattern where Taron would have a shot but that's not what they called. Speaking for myself I would have liked to see another body back there.
  5. I have a feeling that any OC satisfactory to McD would (and will) suck. If Brady does better than Dorsey at least we can hire from within the Carolina connection again.
  6. Could well be that they fired the wrong guy.
  7. Both Brady and Dorsey are Carolina alumni, both were fired in Carolina, both elevated internally in Buffalo (with Brady acting). To me that's got McD's hands all over it and confirms that the time before his inevitable departure will be wasted. Only question now is how long imo.
  8. I'm unaware of Dorsey trying to show up the other coaches. Where did you hear that?
  9. Gee so maybe they can just promote from within again.
  10. They are terrible against the run. You won't see our backs play like that when we face the Jets.
  11. Agree. And I'm especially concerned about McD's input when it comes to hiring a new OC. I tend to doubt that he would want a promising young face for fear that the guy would show him up.
  12. Disagree. Placement was perfect. Russ is not what he used to be but for sure he can still make a play now and then. He's been a playmaker his whole career.
  13. Eli saying Josh not cut out to execute this offence, Needs to be more involved.
  14. I sure like the guy in his college highlights. Destroyed Auburn. I thought he looked ok last year but then why was he on his couch? If the explosion is gone that was always a big part of his game.
  15. Anything is still possible. Its a week to week league. What's important is who has their stuff together come playoff time. I would have thought that the Bills would be exactly the kind of team that could go on a run (or crap out). No Milano, White, Jones is what gets me down.
  16. Giving Gabe a big contract instead of giving Tee Higgins a bigger one would be like the Bears giving Edmunds a big contract instead of giving R. Smith a slightly bigger one. Higgins is headed to FA for sure. Bengals won't have the cap space even to franchise him. Bite the bullet. No half measures. Pay the man. Josh would have 2 #1 receivers. If anyone wanted D. Hop, Higgins is an elite talent in his prime. If they cut Boyd loose too we might look at him, but Higgins is the prize. It is possible of course that they can find that player in the draft but there are few receiver prospects that are guaranteed can't miss and you've got to be sure. Addison could have been that guy and the Bills liked him a lot.
  17. Unless it's M. Harrison Jr. or some other absolute can't miss college phenom just pay Tee Higgins 20 bucks a year. You go from not having a true # 2 to having two # 1s.
  18. Have to wonder whether the kind of offence McD wants is the one most suitable to the personality and precise skill set of his star QB. Maybe Josh is not being put in a position for him to best succeed. If that's accurate McD will eventually have to go. And if that too is true, the sooner the better.
  19. Like the man (Herm Edwards) said "you play to win the game". IMO if we stick with McD it'll be more "it's hard to win in the NFL". You are not going all out to win if you doubt your HC has what it takes to get you there and you leave him in the saddle. No guarantee that a change would work but if you don't even try you are not to be taken seriously in an ultra competitive environment. I'm obviously not an expert but Dorsey looks to me to be inexperienced (not necessarily bad). Don't think he's ready now and there is no knowing whether he will ever be ready. And promoting him from within (especially of a guy already fired once as QB coach in Carolina) leaves me with the uneasy feeling that McD looks for a very junior partner because he fears any challenge to his conservative, defensive philosophy and approach. Possibly a lack of self-confidence or at least an indication of a lack of flexibility. I'm not sure how comfortable he would be if a bright young OC was hired to take over from Dorsey and suddenly unlocked a tremendous improvement in the O, showing McD up. He might even feel threatened. So really it might make the most sense to get rid of both McD and Dorsey. I don't believe things will get better unless and until we do but to me McD is the biggest problem. Speaking for myself I believe that Beane is a good GM but he's had to give McD the kind of team McD wants. I think the emphasis on D, or rather the neglect of the O, stems from McD. Interesting that both McD and Jauron are conservative, defensive coaches who were defensive backs in their playing days and are good at coaching up DBs.
  20. So Shaun why did you get away from the up tempo no huddle offense? Shaun: "Sole secure methoda per decevoir natura is for a strong guy to continuo continuo continuo jusqu'al plaisir brimps, et alors a l'ultima instanta switchers a l'altra gropa". Thanks Shaun.
  21. Well doesn't look like he starts out on the right foot either.
