  1. Giants missed out on him because Tommy Cutlets won a few games for them last year, lowering their draft position....LOL
  2. Looks like he's going to present a problem in coming years. Teams will adjust but I suspect he will too.
  3. Because CBS is in a terrible bind Sunday for AFC Games. At least the Bills in the 430 Window provide Josh Allen. Most of the AFC Teams worth watching are playing Thursday night and Saturday on other networks
  4. Beautiful prose !!! Thank you for for making me feel like I was there!
  5. Totally agree. WTF ? Why can't he set up dead center like everyone else? Most kickers (soccer style of course...that's all there is now) ball hooks but Bass fades/Slices. Seems he prefers that hash mark due to that. But man...One would think thats an awful foundation to build on.
  6. I really would love to hang an L on Mahomes and Reid next week but you are correct. Would rather get the 2 WRs healthy and sit them out. I hate over thinking it, but we are unlikely to get #1 seed even if we beat Chiefs Sunday given the remaining schedules of both. And what are our chances of beating KC twice in one season? I'd rather win the 2nd game, hopefully with a healthy squad, even if at Arrowhead. Perhaps we get lucky and Chiefs get Ravens week before
  7. Was a happy drive home. Figured the way game was going I'd be driving 5.5 hours grumbling with a loss !!! Got home 10:15P...went righ to the youTube hilights
  8. Just got home to Croton (Westchester ) after attending today's game. We sat in that end zone and everyone at that end of Stadium was ecstatic!!! About 15 minutes prior We were all there sweating it out that he'd make the extra point
  9. Agreed. Seattle i a tough place to play as a visitor and the first of 2 long west coast trips.
  10. Brady makes me miss Tony Romo.
  11. I'm an Islander fan. Today I think the first time ever all 3 of my teams played let alone won on same day (Mets, Bills)
  12. I umpired baseball for many summers. Youth, Travel Ball and HS. I took classes, training sessions, had to ingest the rule book, etc. It was drilled into me from day one what your job as an official is Manage the game. Maintain the flow of the game as best as possible. Be as invisible as you can.
  13. I'm emotially spent from MEt Game today...so told myself I'd try not to get worked up about this game tonight. That lasted until the Hail Mary. I'm so pissed off. Over Bass. McDummy, and the Refs.
  14. That too...but its still an awfel D alignment. You are right though. Just knock the ball away. Mug the receiver it's unlikely PI will be called.
  15. Wow !!! Bungles 0-3 What a game from the Rook in DC
  16. This sucks. NEver want to see it. He is fearless I'll give him that, but hes fragile and small.
  17. Totally disagree. Both kickers had difficulties kicking deep to that end. I usually attend a few games a year (6 hour drive for me) and the windy end zone is definitely a factor. I was in upper deck 2 years ago vs Washington and had perfect view of a solid kick knocked down by the wind that dropped suddenly way short, leading to a huge return. So I'm sure Bass' intent was for a touchback. Hoping coaching staff went to school on this. Given the new formations, if assignments, tackles are missed and the returner breaks through, he's gone as there is no depth of defense anymore. Given the particular situation with score and time remaining tacking the penalty on a squib that falls short of 20 might be the right call. Starting at 40 vs a big return
  18. Not having to lay in the sun will help. If we have to play a Thursday in September at least it takes that sideline sun advantage away from fish
  19. Wow!! I was wondering to self other day "Who's going to sign Dak if he's a free agent?" Almost like Jerry was competing against himself. Thnk about it. Who woud be desperate enough to commit that kind of money to Dak? Happy to see Cowboys treading water next 4 years
  20. Good Post- My feeling exactly. I have no idea. The schedule is brutal, but things change quickly in this league. I think the offense will be fine. Tired of Digg's act and I am sure I have a lot of company there. Biggest fear/Question mark is the Defense. Playing all these offenses I can see them getting shredded weekly. But we'll see. Still, it's nice to enjoy these seasons as a competitive team with a great QB following years in the wilderness.
  21. Outstanding post. Thank you. I'm 65 and the older I've gotten the more I fully appreciate the coaching/systems angle. In Hockey, Footfall, Basketball. One reason I prefer college hoops over the NBA. The players come and go annually (moreso now with NIL and Portal), but the same coaches and programs are consistently good, It's the team and system...not the individuals and good coaches and programs instill this. Football differs a bit in that the QB is such a unique position, but we're lucky to have a 5 star guy. Am I the biggest McD fan? No. But I concur with the overall sentiment in this post. We were in a worse position age and cap wise than our competitors, and this past draft is a reset. I'm fine with it. The Branch Rickey quote is still one of the best sports quotes over for GMS "Better to move a player a year too early then a year too late"
  22. Too bad IMO. Simm's show with Chris Russo on Sirius Football Fridays is a must listen for me and part of my Autumn weekend ritual. I like Phil. The Phil / Boomer dynamic is perhaps an inside joke for people down here who are more exposed to them. I have it on good authority that they are pretty good friends. Being in NY Metro area and originally from LI Boomer has become a bit of a blowhard on WFAN. Like....Carton went to Jail and Boomer in the mornings got worse. I've cut ties with FAN. All Sirius now.
  23. Have not, but this week has raised my interest level. Will most definitely watch it. All this weeks discussion has triggered a lot of memories of that entire evening. Chaos in the control room. Some wild conversation and as always...a few laughs. TV talk.
  24. I worked at NBC for decades. Lots of rememberences on the NBC retiree FB page about OJ this week. The general consensus was he was very liked by crew and production in the 80s. He live big and generally treated people well. Several though have mentioned he could be a different person outside the workplace. Some funny stories about his antics on the road with Ahmad Rashad and the Production folks. But also, etc instances of berating Maitre D's and Valets. 2 people who would be in a postiion to know said they say him being pretty nasty to his wife at times: shoving her into a limo, yelling at her on phone, losing his temper etc late 80s and early 90s. I never really dealt with him myself but trust the word of the guys who mentione this. I worked 4P-12M shift the night of the Bronco Chase . NBA Finals Game 5 was at Garden. Fascinating being in that control room. NBC had the NBA, Ebersol was all over the place talking to the News Specials Unit. News and Sports were fighting it out had no idea what to do, so they went with a split screen of the game and chase. Was so Jarring for the NBC people who knew OJ. a real WTF moment.
