I wonder if teams ever negotiate a what-if scenario "handshake deal." Example: Olsen narrows it down to one team that he really likes, but doesn't want to put his body through the rigors of an entire season if it doesn't end with some postseason action. For the purposes of this entirely made up scenario, let's say he decides that IF he's going to play, he only wants to play for the Bills. Would Beane be willing (or legally able) to say, "Okay, Greg … if you promise to keep yourself in playing condition on your own time/while you're in the booth - and we end up getting to (9-3) through the first 13 weeks of the season - I'll give you a contract worth "x" amount of money to sign on for our likely playoff run."

Absolutely. And it's silly for anyone to believe that one heroin addict could successfully stage the suicide of her heroin addict husband. There's no way in hell Courtney Love could have done that, nor do I think she would have. The entire story is very sad, primarily because a young man (27) who lived in chronic pain and was addicted to heroin was dead and he left his baby daughter behind. Very sad story all around.

Allen's name came up frequently during the season. Golic Sr., is the only one close to "sold," on him. I thought, at the very least, he'd have brought him up.

Anyone catch Golic/Wingo yesterday morning? They did a segment on who could/would be a breakout QB next season. They brought up every single young QB, including Lock and Jones, and Josh's name never even came up. I was perplexed.
