  1. Why wouldnt I be surprised if Belichick has been using this testing for years? Not that his dbs are excellent, but he's always ahead of the curve.
  2. Okay, I get that you guys are having a little fun here. But for the record, I dont want Nassib. sincerely, Mrs. Nassib. (By the way, I want somebody with huge upside. And nassib doesnt have it. He's a game manager at very best. Give me a cannon arm in the draft, or a super cerebral guy, or a run-through-brick-walls leader type. Give me something I can be excited about). How cool is it to scroll down to 1970 and see "O.J. Simpson" as the bills draft pick. Murder aside, we all feel a warm feeling inside remembering that we had O.J. God I love the Bills sometimes.
  3. So here's the thing. Been saying this for years. Draft who you like. Draft who you think is gonna be good. Dont give a Fu** about "draft position" or "value." There's only gonna be a few really good players in every draft. So if you think you found one, take him at 8.
  4. Surprised no one has focused on Mayock's point. He is saying 3-4 will be taken in the first round. He is NOT saying that 3-4 deserve to be taken in the first round.
  5. Thigpen. Choice Kelsay. Troupe (duh) TaRvaRis Cant cut any linebackers at this point. We're talking about the FIRST five cut. This new scheme (3-4 or 46 needs plenty of linebackers. And with a new special teams coordinator, he will want as many backup linebackers as possible).
  6. . . . I still hate the pick. But I love the player. I hate picking any rb or cb in the first round, ever. Unless its Adrian Peterson. I cant think of any other rb in the past 15 years I would have been happy with in the first round, either at the time or in hindsight.
  7. I love this idea. the first post in the topic should clearly spell out the structure, to make the whole thread easier to read. For example, it should state something like "In the first sentence, one sentence only, state whether you like or dislike the hire, and rate it on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being "Championship!" and 1 being "stabbing my eyes out with a dagger." Then, in separate paragraphs feel free to discuss the move.
  8. FYP The thinking should always be "how can we win the Superbowl THIS year." Alex Smith is not going to win a superbowl for the Bills. Only a real quarterback can do that. And a front office that brings him in is not trying to win the superbowl THIS year. Smith would be part of a 2-3 year plan, and I'm sick of 2-3 year plans.
  9. Ask yourselves this question: Which coach gives us the best chance to WIN THE SUPERBOWL THIS YEAR? Because if you're just trying to improve on Gailey, or upgrade to maybe make the playoffs, then you are okay with mediocrity. Give me Horton first, Kelly second, Reid third. I want someone not intimidated by Belichick. I want someone to kick down the door. I want someone with a killer instinct (which rules out Lovie). We may not win the superbowl this year. But we damn sure better be trying to. Genuinely believing its possible (see: Pete Carroll with the Seahags; Shanahan; and the Colts). And by the way, if we dont take a qb with our first pick, then forget about the superbowl. Was Russell Wilson or Roethlisberger or Cutler or Kapernick projected as a top 8 pick? No. But you MUST get one, so you MUST try.
  10. (regarding Lovie Smith)Screw the safest choice. We have been doing that for the last 13 years. Safest and cheapest. Think about the choice that would give us the best chance to win the SuperBowl THIS year. Every team in the NFL thinks about this in the off-season. Except the Bills. All we want to do is improve, and have a chance, and "hey, you never know." Screw that.
  11. This !!! Get younger in thinking. Fix the defense. Avoid re-treads. Problem is, it "feels" like he is doing what others have done before. Leveraging his true desires by using the Bills, or letting the Bills negotiate the floor of his next contract with someone else. Good part is, he can see we have some (woefully few) pieces in place on defense. And with the division ripe for the taking . . . .
  12. Was Russell Wilson a top 10 prospect? Kaepernick? Kirk Cousins? Nick Foles? Roethlisburger? Romo? . . . Brady? I dont care. Just keep picking them until we get it right. You cannot ever ever win in this league without at least one. Its not whether a top 10 prospect is there. Its whether the front office can actually figure out who is worth a shot. Think of all the qbs in all the rounds that they've passed on in the past three years, in favor of taking more dbs.
  13. I live in L.A. In L.A., the pro football team is USC. Its all they talk about on the radio. But for Barkley, its like they have a hard time finding something good to say about him. I was listening a few days ago to a sportstalk show with 3 local hosts. They were having a contest to see who to compare Barkley to. "weak to average arm." "Game manager at best." -One said "I see him as a Carson Palmer type." The other two said "really?????" at the same time. As in "that good?" -The other said "ceiling, I see him as Sanchez. Floor, I see him as Blaine Gabbert. No pocket awareness. In the big-boy league, you wont have the best OL in football, to lock onto Marquise Lee until he's open." -The third said "I see him as Jimmy Clausen. Good in college but doesnt have the "it" factor to translate to the pros. Weak arm, locks onto receivers, doesnt go through progressions." And these are the local jocks who love USC and try their best to be positive. But they were having a giggle-fest. Other shows are the same. They work hard to find something good to say about Barkley's pro prospects. I havent watched many games, but . . . ugh.
  14. Nah. I need a corner in round one. There will be plenty of running backs in the second round. Then another db in the third, and a tight end in the 4th. Maybe spend a late round pick on a qb. Championship !!!
  15. Completely disagree. He just helped his slim chances. 1) who votes for HOF? HOF members, who are players, who will be happy Tags sided with players. And writers, who dont have a dog in the fight, but will recognize that Tags did it for the Shield, which is what you want a Commish to do. 2) He just saved the league and/or Goodell money by weakening any defamation suits. He didnt kill them, but they just took on a little water for sure. 3) ask yourself "how could Tags have improved his HOF chances by siding with Goodell?" Roger doesnt get a HOF vote, and neither do the owners (except Ralph, of course).
  16. OMG. This speaks to my heart. You have said it all, sir. Please, god, dont make me go another season with these clowns. I/we deserve to at least be relevant, if not competitive.
  17. I've said it many times to friends, who are also Bills fans. Gailey and Nix are just feathering their retirement nests. Come out of retirement, get a couple million bucks, hang around football for a while longer, then ride off into the RV sunset, with a buncha fishin mixed in. These guys are not serious NFL people. Maybe Ralph has a soft spot for old guys who dont have enuf saved to live until 94+ And, if we dont draft a quarterback first (unless maybe Mante Teo), I will not watch anymore until we do. (cue the "goodbye, dont let the doorknob hit you" crowd, but I dont care. Been a fan since '87, used to sell pretzels at the stadium during the glory years, but 13 years of NFL irrelevance, with no end in sight, reminds me that Sundays are 1/7 of my life. And life is good. And football used to be. And wont be again until the Bills at least try to get me a quarterback)
  18. 1) show up. Should get it done by itself. But if more help is needed, then 2) pass more than run.
  19. . . . . unless I was one player away from the Super Bowl. And even then, . . . maybe.
  20. Wanny is old school Its hard to win in this league same shtt every year
  21. doesnt have to be someone currently employed. College? Network TV? Or CFL? Also, we can call someone if its an upgrade, like a position coach on another team, right? Teams cant, or by gentleman's agreement wont, block a promotion, right? Work with me here. We all want the same thing.
  22. for anybody not as lazy as me, it would be interesting to go back and look at his college highlight reel before posting a reply here. Sure, nfl caliber offensive linemen, blah blah blah. But SEC caliber linemen. But what I recall is that he was 100% effort in college. Now, notsomuch
