  1. Geno Smith -- Jaguars Cordarrelle Patterson -- Chargers Tyler Eifert -- Jaguars Luke Joeckel -- KC Dion Jordan -- Eagles
  2. I hate this thinking. If there's a qb you think will be a franchise guy, take him. Right away. At 8. Do NOT play around. QB is too important, you dont have one, you have missed the playoffs for 13 years. I hate when the Bills think they are smarter than everyone else in the room. For the record, to the OP's question, I do want E.J. Manuel at 8. High upside, pro-style offense. Let the rest of the chips fall where they may.
  3. Buffalo is the only franchise that is not trying to Win the SuperBowl THIS year, every year. Lets just get a little better. Rinse. Repeat.
  4. This is the LONGEST post I have ever actually read. For sports or politics or anything. Worth every minute. Good stuff.
  5. Yes. Because I need a bridge. I am required to spend $X per year. I will eventually find a bridge that will make me rich. But I have to at least try to find one. By buying bridges. Tell me more !!
  6. Nope. Take EJ Manual at 8, then Robert Woods (wr USC) in round two. Or, take Cordarelle Patterson (wr TENN) in round one and EJ Manuel in Round two (like Cincy did with AJ green and Dalton). This thing can be fixed, people. But you gotta swing for the fences.
  7. No. Draft E.J. Manuel at 8. This team is a real QB away from being a perennial playoff contender. So draft a real qb. If he sucks, then draft another one next year. Rinse, Repeat. At least give me something to root for next year. Its too hard to predict which team will suck worse than the bills next year, if the bills dont draft a qb. So draft a qb (or three).
  8. I dont mean to knock your effort. But to me, when a post title says "MOCK DRAFT" I expect to see all teams' picks, not just ours. Like what are the first seven picks that you expect, to make Barkley fall to 8, etc. P.S., I'd rather take EJ Manuel at 8. The draft is a crap shoot anyway. Draft who you like. 4-5 years from now most of the players drafted in 2013 will be out of the league. For the ones still in, no one will care where they were drafted or what the "value" was of the round they were picked. In a perfect world, all the ones still around in 4-5 years would be first round picks because somebody had the foresight to recognize that they were NFL players. So take Manuel at 8.
  9. City Honors. (class of '85. All the way live) Best free education. And go play for Bennett-Bennett-High
  10. Swing for the fences, sir. Dare to dream. .500 wont get you to the playoffs any more than .333. And when/if you ever get there, you wanna be able to do something.
  11. (psst: Its "QBs." Its not "QB's." An apostrophe never ever makes anything plural in English. It makes it possessive, or it indicates that some letters are missing, like in a contraction such as "can't." Ex: "The QB's iphone fell out of his pocket and I picked it up." or "Three QBs dropped their iphones at the same time.") As to the substance, I'm cool with drafting one or two. Two would be better. But I hope that, if they are going QB this year, they use the first pick for a QB. And I mean the 8th pick. No trading down nonsense. For 13+ years they have played around, trying to outsmart everyone. Just keep picking a QB with your first pick until you find one. Please.
  12. It definitely aint about the Ravens coming here for the opener. The NFL is a multi-ksjdfherhillion dollar enterprise. Run by smart guys. If Gilmore knew about the opener, that means that 53 guys on each team, all with Twitter accounts, would know. I dont see the NFL as being that stupid. its probably as silly as: They told him they arent taking a cb with the first pick (praise the holy lord jeeeeezus), and he is penciled in as the starter going into the draft and into camp. Or he's pregnant.
  13. THIS. you must have a qb. If there's one you like, take him. Dont give a f#%^ about "draft slot" or Mel Kiper's big board. Most players in most drafts dont pan out. And QB is key. And I dont care about his inconsistencies in college. I care WHY he was inconsistent. If the staff thinks it can fix it, then i'm fine. If he needs a year or two to develop, fine. In fact, my official position, as of today, is I want Manuel at 8. We need to swing for the fences, not just retool a 6-10 team. A perennial 6-10 team. "Yeah, if we can just get a little better . . . ." I say F that. Swing for the fences.
  14. Holy jeezus. You'd have to pay me to read that. And I really wanna. But dude !!!???
  15. The Bills have missed the playoffs for the past 2 million years. Lets ask ourselves: What's the one year plan? I dont care about a 3 year plan. What are the Bills doing to WIN THE SUPERBOWL THIS YEAR? Nothing.
  16. you mean if spiller "demands." Commands suggests he deserves it and can command that salary. Baseball blah blah blah baseball blah blah And did you ever notice that it should be the Oakland "As" and not the "A's," since an apostrophe "s" has never, in the history of English, made something plural? But to the substance, yes, we will use analytics to get bigger, stronger, and cheaper, kinda like the Seahawks have been doing. Or like the Buccaneers thought they were doing with the whole "youngry" thing. And notice its "Buccaneers" and not "Buccaneer's" (and yes, I am aware that the Oakland baseball team has trademarked the term "A's" instead of "As" and that they realize they are stuck with a grammatically incorrect term. Much has been written about it. But its still dumb. But cf: http://thegrammarvandal.wordpress.com/2007/07/27/apostrophe-for-the-oakland-as/)
  17. How about a simple plan? Draft a QB with our first pick, every year, until we find one. If we snag Barkley at 8 and he sucks, then we should be in top ten position again next year. I suspect Whaley (not Nix), from his years in Pittsburgh, understands how to move on from a player. If we draft the most important position on a team, and the guy (1) sucks and (2) shows to a trained eye that he will never be more than a career backup, then next year we draft another one with our first pick. After all, in a QB league, for a team with no QB, isnt that what the first round pick is for??? (I dont care about value for the slot. I care about the value of not having a qb and missing the playoffs for 13+ years. Time to swing for the fences, fellas. And keep swinging until you connect).
  18. Yeah. And after RG and Luck, there was no qb in last year's draft worthy of the 8th pick either. Right? Our ability to scout quarterbacks sucks. It needs to be fixed. You MUST have a qb or your chance to win the super bowl THIS year is zero percent. My point was/is that the Bills dont swing for the fences ever. Its a quarterback league. If you never even try . . . . Rinse. Repeat.
  19. here's my take. Buffalo is never trying to win the super bowl THIS year. There are about 12-15 teams who, every year, are trying to win the super bowl THIS year. Buffalo just wants to improve. Well, every team is trying to improve. Every year. To me, the gauge this year is whether they draft a QB with the first pick. If so, they are trying to win NOW. If not, if they draft any other position, they are building for the future. Rinse. Repeat.
  20. Sorry Yo. I know you want a reaction. But still, you are smokin' crack. What are you? Like 13 years old? Where have you been? The bills will go 5-11. They will draft around 7th. Not high enuf to get a top qb. As usual. Rinse. Repeat.
  21. QB, LB, LB. You have to swing for the fences for a qb. After that, gimme some defense. I know we dont have wrs, but lbs give me (in theory) more defensive stops and turnovers, which translates to more possessions. I can find some Marques Colston (or stevie johnson) wrs in the later rounds, more likely than an impact lb.
  22. Bills misses: Playoffs, 2000 Playoffs, 2001 Playoffs, 2002 . . . Playoffs, 2012. At least cleveland is trying. They recognize the problem and are trying to address it. Buffalo's problem is that the front office sucks at evaluating quarterbacks. That's why so many good ones have passed us by.
  23. I think we asked the right questions. there have been articles for years about the problems of rookie wrs. They take too long to learn the playbook. They have to be smart. They have to read the defense, adjust routes, learn the audibles, etc. If you're gonna draft a rookie wr, then draft the smartest one, other things roughly equal. It was Marv Levy who said of the draft, something along the lines of "other things being equal, take the smarter player, because he will get better faster."
  24. Please sir. Mix in a couple of paragraphs. And please include position for players, in case we dont know. Ex.: cordarelle patterson to jets. What position does he play. Carry on, sir.
