  1. And STILL you posted it . I love speculation as much as the next guy but it just doesn't happen. Here is a trivia question for you. When is the last time the Bills traded down????? How is it under your rock? Newton will go in the first and he will go before Gabbert.
  2. NO MORE FIRST ROUND PICK DBs!!!!! I REPEAT NO MORE FIRST ROUND PICK DBs!!!!!! I don't have time to look it up now but something like 40% of Buffalo's first round picks in the last 15 years have been DBs. Buffalo's problem in the era of free agency always has been keeping talent. Yes, we have issues drafting bums but we do hit sometimes. Sadly these guys leave over money because we would rather overpay, grossly in some cases, mediocre talent. Keep and compensate your stars and fill in with veterans and promising rookies. Instead we try to get it done with average talent almost everywhere and young guys that leave by the time they develop and their rookie contract is up. I would rather have Jordan, Pippen and 3 no names instead of 5 barely heard ofs.
  3. I was kind of pissed about that pick but Williams was at least in the discussion. I was pulling for Brian McKinney. You know....the guy they said never gave up a sack in college. The guy if I am not mistaken has gone to pro bowls for the Vikings. In typical Buffalo fashion we picked the wrong guy again. That being said he is a distant second to picking Maybin over Orakpo. All time blunder. Not because Maybin hasn't done anything yet but because the choice was so stinking obvious only an idiot could screw it up. To be honest the only pick I have been really happy with in the first round since I have been paying attention to the draft the last 10 years was Spiller. Time will tell.
  4. SIGN HIM!!!! We need stop screwing around with projects and cast offs at lineman. We did the right thing and got Wood and Levitre who will hopefully continue to get better. Wood moving to his natural position at center could be a REALLY good thing. I never understood why the Bills were always drafting guys who played one position all their life and then we ask them to do something different at the NFL level. Without question we need at least one soild known performer to add to this line. RT is a huge need. Not to mention I'm still not sold on Bell being the answer at LT. I know he was injured 2 years ago but what has this kid done in the last 3 years? Really? Just a personal feeling but I feel that the subjective praise is almost entirely from the Jason Peters haters that want this guy to make them forget that we were paying good RT money for a probowl level LT and he left because of it.
  5. It's still early. We have to wait for the combine but I think Quinn is going to move up the boards. He is already mentioned in the top 10 and the guy didn't even play any football last year. If his measureables match the tape and the press that I saw he will be highly sought after. Check the signature
  6. I want to see the measurables of all of the players. Specifically if we limit to first round picks I am really interested to see what kind of size, speed, strength and ability that Robert Quinn and Cam Newton have. Throw in Von Miller for good measure although I haven't seen any good video of him which is of course limited on the internet. I'm interested in Newtons wonderlick score but I'm much more interested in how he comes out of the interviews. As long as his score isn't really low or really high I don't think it will have too much of an impact on the football field. I would like to see a sister test to the wonderlic that tested "football IQ" as jaws likes to say. Tell me how smart of a football player the guy is not if he can come up with a unified theory. Cam doesn't need to be a genius....he needs to be a smart football player. The smarter football player the better. I know plenty of brainiacs that given the body of an NFL player couldn't hope to play the position. Knowing which number comes next in a sequence or being good at word logic questions doesn't mean you know which WR will be open based on the coverage you see or being able to identify it for that matter.
  7. I don't think we need another free safety. I would be happy with a SS that can provide excellent run support and not get burned in coverage when it is called for.
  8. Nothing shocking and completely expected in my opinion. Besides clearing cap money and making room for new guys what REALLY REALLY gets me optimistic is the thought that Williams might make a full time move to DE this year in the 3 - 4. He can still situationally play NT if the Bills jump out to big leads on teams when attacking the QB and getting into the backfield are more important for a NT I used to dog the Bills for having to play this late round pick but the guy is the little engine that could. He made a probowl this year and has developed into a great penetrator and play maker. That being said he is not a 2 gap run stuffing NT.
  9. The year we become a good team?????
  10. Sorry to burst the bubble. I think Buddy is more a straight shooter than a bluffer. If he is talking up Cam Newton and I hear Gailey say a single thing about wanting a dynamic player/mobile QB of the future type talk....Cam will be our pick. I wouldn't "hate" the pick but I don't think QB is our biggest need.
  11. Who?....riiiiight.
  12. I hope he can move! I now sing KW's praises but a 2 gap anchoring run stuffing NT he is not. The Bills and some fans need to stop trying to be the exception to the rule. Yes small, undersized guys can be very good but the vast majority of the guys that are great NTs have the size and strength. Size isn't everything but it's close.
  13. KW has really come along and made the probowl but it wasn't because he could cover two gaps and plug the run. People seem to think our line is great and we have all the players we need but ignore the fact that in reality we sucked really bad against the run. Size is not everything but in this case, for our defense, it is the ONLY thing. We need a big fat bastard to plug up the middle and say "NONE SHALL RUN"
  14. I agree man. REALLY early to make the call but Quinn has been my guy for a while. I am no college expert but the scouting report seems to say he is what we need and he has SIZE! This could be a stroke of luck for us. Since he didn't play his junior year he should be available to us at #3. Who knows? If he played his junior year and continued the trend it is within the realm of possibility that he could have been gone by #2. By the measureables he would seem to be a perfect fit for the 3-4 OLB, 4 - 3 DE hybrid role. If this guy actually played in 2010 I think he would easily be a top 5 lock. Who knows, after the combine, if he blows it up, he could still end up an "expert" pick top 5 lock. OLBs can be effective at Von Millers weight. Maybe he can put on some weight, maybe he can't like Maybin. Maybe he will be effective, maybe he won't like Maybin. Unfair comparison so far I know. I still think that Quinn is a more solid pick who performed well in BOTH his senior and freshman year once he got the start. How amazing could this guy be if he is still a top 8 pick and didn't take the field last year. This could be the deal of the century for us.
  15. Oh ya, Fitz is getting jobbed! Around 1999, 12 years ago we had two $5 million per year QBs on the roster in Flutie and Johnson. Now it's 2011. With all the appropriate increases in salary we have a guy who is equally as good with some decent potential as the undisputed starter for the first time in his career making $3 million and change. It was only one year but if Fitz plays equally as well or I would assume even better in 2011 the guy deserves a raise.
  16. That would probably be a huge help.
  17. Agreed. Unfortunately it's just the nature of the beast. There isn't too much movement in the draft especially in the top 3rd of the first round. The Patriots are a rare exception the way they move around. I'll bet that the NFL draft "point system" for trading picks is based on salary compensation. There are huge differences just between players from 1 - 5 vs 6 - 10. As an example I could guess that the draft pick compensation is somewhat based upon the total average salaries of the picks you gain versus the difference in compensation between the pick you gave up in the first and how many spots you dropped in the first.
  18. I totally disagree. To use a tried and true old phrase, "defense wins championships". That being said I fully believe at the very least you need a good decision maker at QB. Fitz being stuck behind the organizations ridiculous, misguided and just plain BONE HEADED decision to waste the time of the fans for the last 4 years waiting for Trent to grow a set and learn how to read and anticipate like a real NFL career has prevented us from seeing Fitz true potential. Being the man going into all OTAs and preseason work for the 2011 season should start to give us a better picture of what Fitz can really be. Fitz played pretty damn well most of the time last year. We will see if he can continue to show improvement and progress. That all being said. Who is your QB of the future? I don't see one that's even remotely in the conversation at #3. EVERY QB in this draft class pails in comparison to Andrew Luck. This guy will have the biggest impact on this years draft by virtue of not signing. Cam Newton? We could take him but does a team this bad really need a guy that will take at the very least 1 year to even have the hope of seeing the field? A guy that in all likelihood would take 3 years to be competent and know how to run and NFL offense? You could make a case that we should eventually get yet another guy to groom this year. IMO I think we wait until next year. If we really feel that strongly we sell the farm and do what it takes to get Andrew Luck in 2012. Depending on our record it might not take too much in the way of picks to move up. The problem as always is getting the other team to agree to the trade. For what I think we need check the signature.
  19. I think Tom got the news when the Jets clobbered him in the play offs and he couldn't escape crap when his line broke down.
  20. Wasn't Quinn a 2 year starter at NC? He was suspended his junior year and forewent his senior year? He has won awards and trophies not that that is any guarantee of anything but at least it means you don't completely suck. Unless the guy would have taken an enormous step back his junior and senior year I think he would have continued to play at a high level. Not only continued but built upon his great start. It is entirely possible that this guy would be in the conversation for #1 overall if he played this year. The guy is already ranked as high as #6. How is that even possible that he is so highly regarded and didn't play? It might be by an incredible stroke of luck that this guy might be available to us at #3. All wild speculation of course but that is how I am looking at it right now. The combine will tell. I don't care if he plays OLB when we run the 3 - 4 or a DE when we run the 4 - 3. The guy is GOOD!!! Think Brian Orakpo. People kept talking about 3-4, 4-3 blah blah blah. Not saying this guy is or plays anything like Orakpo but don't get hung up on DE vs LB. All he did was post double digit sacks his rookie year and was a beast.
  21. Been saying it for a while and changed my signature to the effect. I think Quinn will be our pick. It's all gut but if this guy has the measureables at the combine that reflect the athleticism that many say he has he will rise up the boards. Some guy has him mocked to go at #6 overall. By the time April comes I think this is our guy.
  22. Let me know when we start playing one. While we are at it settling for "good" is ok...me...I want a guy that can anchor, hold the line...AND PUSH IT INTO THE BACKFIELD! I want an above average if not great NT. Size is no guarantee but it certainly never hurt. I'll settle for a 305 pounder if he can get the job done.
  23. Man I hope you're right on all accounts on Troup. If he came back bigger, stronger and ready to play the pro game like Raji in his second year I would be ecstatic. I am a KW convert now. That being said I think he would be better suited as a DE.
  24. I won't speak ill of KW because he has continued to prove me wrong the past 4 years or so. Let's put this in perspective. KW played NT on a statistically VERY bad defense that wonders of wonders didn't have the size and skill to stop the run. KW was drafted as and is a penetrating tampa 2 style DT. I think making him a DE is a perfect move for us. He NEEDS to be there to take advantage of his penetration. Use his best talents. We need a NT that can anchor the line, tie up 2 defenders and let the other guys wreak havoc. FREE KYLE WILLIAMS!!!!
  25. Perhaps "ZERO" depth was an overstatement. To be clear your expectations for multiple players to excel is overly optimistic in my opinion. I have no expectations other than the realization that "everything working out" rarely happens in life and certainly doesn't happen for the Buffalo Bills. We need more talent. If these guys have so much potential and are the future why didn't we suck it up and play them that way this year? Might as well get a head start on that chemistry and experience on that side of the ball. It's not like the line up we had was so good that we could afford to not play rookies. I never mentioned Dareus. In actuality I DON'T want us to pick him. He had one good year.....no thanks. With the line and depth you propose I don't see the beginnings of a dominant defense. I want a dominant defense not one that is just good enough. Troup was mixed in but we are "hoping" for his continued development. I for one am with you on him. I think he will develop but again, not a guarantee. I think Kyle will be better suited as a penetrating DE. That being said he played NT all year in the 3 - 4 and he would still have to make the switch. Edwards played SO well for the Ravens that he ended up a Buffalo Bill. As for depth, Carrington still has to develop. He was apparently so far behind he couldn't actually get on the field until very late in the season. Spencer Johnson is another aging journeyman. My actual pick for #3 overall is a bit out there but if his combine numbers reflect his incredible athleticism as some say he will move even higher up the boards. My knee jerk response to who we will draft is Robert "The Mighty" Quinn. Nothing substantive to base that on just a feeling.
