I don't know that it is love but those were two great plays wouldn't you say? Sure the kid is young. Sure he needs work on his blocking. It's better than you give him credit for but he is a rookie. He missed an assignment on Sunday and let a guy up the middle but that is correctable. The guy is an offensive weapon and home run hitter you don't keep him off the field because he is only an adequate, willing blocker in training. How is the kid supposed to get better? I don't know that other than a small handful of guys that there are truly any "every down" backs anymore. I think the RBs all have their niche so I just don't quite understand why people are so incredibly hung up on trying to rank them. WHAT HE SAID!!! Some guys just have no clue. Right on man.

What's funny is people attacking one of the few bright spots on the team. I think you get a lot of people upset who defend Lynch because it's obvious the "attackers" are incredibly biased by his off field issues to the point of ignoring on field effectiveness. There is a difference between putting on moves and dancing. Lynch has moves. He tries to make people miss. Admittedly sometimes he tries too hard. He is more than JUST a pound the **** out of you running back. He can do that no problem but he is more. He is also trying to get first downs. I think I'll let his performance and 6.1 yds per carry speak for itself. That being said. Fred is an even more decisive RB. That is to Jackson's credit not Lynch's detriment. Hey it's America, you can talk about whatever you want but it's sad when people have to be negative about some of the FEW things that are actually positives on this team.

I have only and will only ever be a Buffalo Bills fan but does this happen with other teams? Why people keep wanting to get rid of our best players because they are a little rough around the edges or want to be compensated at market value is beyond me. If this board is typical of the average Bills fan no wonder we have been mediocre for years. I have beat this drum but some don't seem to get it. You make a team better by acquiring talent not trading it away just to trade it. Has our history shown us nothing if not give us a draft pick and we will screw it up?? Maybin, Whitner, McCargo, Edwards etc.

Riiiiight. He danced his way to 6.1 yards per carry on 13 for 79. He danced his way to becoming one of the toughest running RBs in the NFL. Maybe he should just run into the back of his own linemen when the hole isn't there so clowns wouldn't call him a dancer. As I have stated many times before when the O-line can't do it's job Freddy is a better cut back runner. I suppose you don't think our O-line play affects the running styles of a RB?
-
No clue man. People make **** up all the time. Lynch ran ok last year seeing as how me missed all that time and was demoted to watch Freddy score a grand total of 2 rushing TDs all year as the starting RB. Our line believe it or not was actually worse last year. We know that Fred is a better cut back runner. When there aren't any holes I would rather have him in there to improvise and get what he can. When there IS a whole beast mode is in full effect and woe be tied to those who would get in Marshawn's way. If either have a small hole and you need short yardage they run hard. In those situations Lynch runs just a bit harder and is more difficult to bring down. Exactly. These guys have no clue. When there is no hole to run through they call him a dancer. Freddy is better at bouncing outside but if you have an actual line that can open a hole Marshawn is the man.

When are people going to realize that Lynch is starting because he is the better every down back!?!?!?!?!? Seriously these incessant fan generated trade rumors are really annoying. How many times does the front office need to tell you he is not being traded. I know sometimes that is a smoke screen but Buddy and Chan have pretty much done everything they said they were going to do personnel wise. That even includes drafting a play maker at RB in Spiller, keeping the crap we had at QB and not addressing the LT position. People need to get this notion out of their head that Fred is a better back. Fred is a DAMN GOOD back but Marshawn is the better of the 2. It's almost not even right to compare them as they are somewhat different backs. Marshawn is the every down pound the **** out of you get some big gains here and there RB. Spiller is the incredibly dynamic but young change of pace "offensive weapon" back. Spiller is the new improved and more athletic version of Fred Jackson. FRED JACKSON IS THE ODD MAN OUT!!! Why people can't see that he is the guy they can do without at 30 is beyond me. Actually it's not beyond me. People still hate on Marshawn for his off field stupidity instead or recognizing his on field talents. Sorry fellas Fred's character off the field doesn't score points on it.

Still can't admit you were wrong about your assessment of Trent can you? You were actually right about him being great. The stars were aligned against him and took a would be awesome QB and made him suck. You weren't wrong about Trent though. Other people just didn't help him realize his potential.
-
What is stupid is ignoring the tape of what he does when it counts. It's stupid to value anything else over that. Trent proved when the bullets started flying he curled up like a little baby and cried. What he should have seen is Fitz being the better QB when the games counted. He should have heard the oucries of the intelligent fans. He should have LISTENED TO HIS PLAYERS!!!
-
Way to stay positive. Did you not see the game yesterday? With Fitz our offense looked like a real NFL offense. Let's not forget the guy has had one week as the starting QB and it is very unlikely that the coaching staff has tailored anything to his strengths yet. Remember they gave Trent the job in that sham of a QB competition and prepared for the season with Trent at the helm. Fitz isn't the next savior but things should improve on a great start as they tailor the offense to him over the next number of weeks.
-
Yes finally the Trent supporters know it now too. We got NOTHING by replacing Losman with Trent. Just a guy without the athleticism and none of the excitement that the long ball and wheels bring. It was a waste of a pick and a waste of the last 4 years.
-
He could have looked at the previous 3 years of tape. When you watch tape on a guy you don't just watch his 5 minute high light reel.
-
Trent proved he wasn't a gamer about 2 - 3 years ago.
-
I think a lot of that came from trying to swing for a home run. We know what we get with Fitz. It's not bad. It's certainly better than Edwards. I think the Brohm and Brown supporters were just gambling that they could be better than the mostly known commodity Fitz. That being said, imagine if the coaching staff actually backed Fitz in the OTAs and training camp instead of the guaranteed loser Edwards. We might have hit the ground running. They might have even devised plays that were to his liking instead of tailoring them to the now dishonorably discharged Cpt Checkdown.
-
The most annoying thing was fans that kept pulling for Trent when it was so painfully obvious that all he could ever be was mediocre at best. All the people that thought there will be no significant change with Fitz. It's all the Olines fault. Blah, blah, blah blah blah. These discussion get pretty heated with a lot of name calling so a good "I told you so thread" is completely warranted. If you are going to argue that strongly you have to be a man and take the poison when you are wrong. The sad thing is most people don't have the integrity to admit their mistakes, humble themselves and say they were wrong.

Why Trent was Benched and Released
PDaDdy replied to NaPolian8693's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The real reason Trent Edwards was benched and released is BECAUSE HE SUCKS!!!! The players knew it and so did most of the fans that weren't on some serious meds. It's just a shame that it even took the coaching staff that long to realize it. I don't want to discount your mysterious inside knowledge but if the coaches hands were "forced" in this and they didn't make the decision freely on their own then they aren't as smart as I thought they were. -
NO WAY!!! WR were never open for Edwards. Chan Gailey ran the special don't get open for Trent plays so that Trent would look bad. The WR also didn't work as hard for Trent and didn't try to get open. Lee Evans is not a #1 and didn't draw double coverage all day leaving other guys open for big gains and TDs.
-
ROFLOL. SO true man. I have been banging that drum for about 2+ years.
-
Don't get too crazy but it was obvious to me the QB was a bigger problem than the line. The Oline still has issues though. For the most part I'm with ya but we need some tackles in a bad way and could use a bigger better center. I was watching all day and I saw Fitz do something that I don't think Trent did. It looked like he was calling out coverages and assessing where the rush was coming and communicating it to his line. The center makes the calls for the line but the QB has to help the line help him. I don't think Trent was able to read the defense presnap and help out with calling blocking assignments like Fitz could. For all I know he could have just been ordering lunch and saying he liked a guys jersey but the line magically seemed to perform better today in pass protection AND in the run game. Lynch averaged 6.1 yards/carry. That is not to be ignored or diminished in importance.
-
Getting rid of your young talent is not a recipe for success. Did you now see the game? What would we get in return from Green Bay. A backup lineman to their currently ****ty offensive line? A draft pick we would inevitably screw up?
-
Give that man a prize!
-
LOL. There is always one. Fred's hand is just fine. You do understand he was playing week 1 and it is now week 3? As usual people can't separate the players off field short comings from their on field talent and performance. That is just ....I mean .....wow. So...your assertion is that the defensive players are told to swallow their pride, dog it and take the day off? Preposterous!
-
Just kidding. Lynch had 13 carries for 79 yards at 6.1 a pop. Tell me again how Jackson should be the starter? When the line can actually open a few holes Lynch is the better runner of the two. He actually made some of his own opportunities with some cut backs today ala Fred. Just stoking the fire a little bit. If the defense showed up today I would actually have liked to see a few more plays to Spiller and even the change of pace back Fred Jackson. To bad we had to try to keep up with New England shredding the defense for 200+ yards and throwing in the middle of the field with impunity.
-
Of course. I hate to state it so matter of factly but it's been painfully obvious that Ralph and the front office didn't want to bring in any QB that could possibly represent a threat to the "fools" golden boy Trent. He was endorsed by Bill Walsh after all. We wasted parts of 4 years waiting for that guy to arrive. What a joke.

SPOT ON about the interior line. People are so happy and slapping each other on the back that we got rid of our probowl LT and started rebuilding the lines with the guards and singing the praises of these "studs". The truth is they haven't done a damn thing yet. The interior of our line is mediocre at best. We sure as **** can't run inside and there is no pocket to speak of to step up into. I wish people would have worn those rose colored glasses when they looked at Peters play. A genuine star probowl LT we ran out of town was supposedly over rated but these "done nothing" guards and center are so great and awesome picks. If in time they even come close to the unwarranted hype and praise they receive we will really have something.

Neither of us can truly prove whether their are or aren't better back ups on other teams as they are rarely called into action unless starters go down. I guess I just can't believe that being a skilled offensive is that incredibly rare a talent to the point that there just aren't any sitting on someones bench. Remember, it only takes one RT on someones bench to be better than ours to make my statement true. It only takes one LT or C on someones bench to be better than our to make the statement true.
