I'll answer this. Social media is terrible all the way around imo. It has ruined journalism. It is now about being first not about being accurate. People use it to spread disinformation. It causes mental health issues. People overshare. Vaguebooking. It has created "influencers" as a job title. I used it for a bit and it made me dislike a lot of people. Whether they showed their ignorance, straight up lied about who they are/how things are going, or beg for attention, it made me think poorer of people I otherwise liked and respected. I told my wife I ran into a friend of ours and she asked if he was going to DC for the insurrection bc that is all he posts on fb about. I dipped during the 2016 election as people on both sides showed just how ignorant they were or could be. It didn't get better this election as I had some work related reasons for being on. People claim it is a tool to keep in touch with people that you normally don't. For that I have 2 points, first there is a reason we don't normally keep in touch with them. Secondly people have started to use it to communicate with people they normally would in a much more direct capacity. My wife's mother wished her a happy bday on fb. No call, no text, just a fb post. My friend asked me why I missed a party recently that I had no idea about. He stated that his wife sent me a fb invite. I talk to this guy 4 or 5 times a week. Gladly he knew I wasn't active on social media and didn't get mad (actually apologized). It is nice that is has a direct line to athletes but they are treated absolutely abhorrently. The way people treat other human beings over a game or their fantasy football game is disgusting. These are just some of my feelings. From a not quite yet 40 year old guy who had myspace and fb but never twitter, snapchat, vine, tik tok, or any of the others.

Bills Mandatory Minicamp June 15-16
section122 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To save other people I went through the twitter replies... apparently this is a polaris slingshot. Likely a very special edition but the r line which is the top of the line starts at 31k. I was surprised to see it was that cheap as that is really nice looking imo. -
Thanks for sharing. It was impossible to watch Josh's Wyoming highlights and miss Gentry. I agree with your later post that he likely makes his living on the PS. He spent a lot of time on the Bears PS and didn't get poached, I think he would be safe there. I have wanted Gentry here for a long time, funny when they finally get him, I don't know if he has a spot. WR went from the dregs to a fantastic and deep positional group!

Kyler Murray is not a Cowboys Fan
section122 replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Legacy fans are people that are fans because their mom or dad or some other significant person is a fan. I am a legacy Bills fan. My Mom's side of the family is Bills fans, my Dad's is Giants. My Mom loves sports my Dad couldn't care less. I chose the Bills specifically because of the familial affiliation. On a side note I had no idea the Cowboys were created in 1960 until you said you were older than the team. I always assumed they were part of the original NFL. Thanks for that piece of knowledge! No argument here lol -
Kyler Murray is not a Cowboys Fan

There were no players drafted this year that were alive the last time the Cowboys won the Super bowl. Jerry is a marketing genius to have them still talked about as "America's Team". They are the 5th largest market but with 2 teams in NY and LA they are the 7th largest NFL market. Personal Anecdote but I don't know too many young people who are Cowboys fans and none that aren't "legacy" fans. -
Just for more piling on... How about these stats: 3 playoff wins since 1997 It has been 25 years since they were in the NFC Championship game Only the Bengals, WFT, Lions, Browns, and Dolphins have gone that long without being in their conference championship.

When that draft season started Rivers was a projected 3rd rounder and I was in love with him. I wanted him badly to go to the Bills. I didn't want Losman but he won me over in the 2nd half of the 06 season and I thought he was close to turning the corner. Then Wilfork had a cheap shot on his knee that made me hate him the rest of his career and Losman never advanced himself. In another Ralph is cheap moment, rumors were that Losman was sat for Edwards so he didn't reach certain incentives. I like that as an answer Schobel is another good one but I think he WAS a very good player. With better pieces around him I think he would have a better reputation among opposing fans but nothing should be taken away from how good he was on some bad teams. He was the only player opposing offenses needed to shut down and he still excelled. I'm going to throw another name in the ring. Marcel Dareus. If he had from the beginning this culture, I think he would have been an absolute terror. We saw flashes of what he could be but I stand firmly behind the idea that Rex's easygoing ways were the worst possible thing for him. He needed a strict no nonsense coach to keep him motivated and engaged similar to what he had in Saban at Bama.

Bills 2021 Training Camp will be at OBD

I'm really going to miss Astro notes. They were when I knew football was back and it was amazing to soak up the goings on. My oldest is now the age I was going to bring her to tc and hopefully create that lifelong fandom. I absolutely understand the decision and think it is the right one but I am bummed none the less. -

Im looking for 5 tickets for this game too if anyone wants to sell ill also take a pm -
As a kid (very young) I fell in love with the Bills. My Mom's whole family is Bills fans and I naturally rooted for them. Being in CNY though, my Dad's family were mostly Giants fans so I rooted for both teams. Then wide right happened. So I dropped the Giants and picked up the Redskins because I liked Gibbs, the color yellow, and they could get revenge on the Giants. Then over officious jerks happened and I officially gave up having a second team. I do root for the Packers though as my Aunt who passed was a huge fan. I'm not really a fan though as I will root against them if it is convenient for the Bills. Due to my fantasy football addiction I do have a lot of players I like to follow: Megatron - possibly my favorite non-Bill. He was just absolutely unstoppable. Retired obviously but HOFer for sure imo even though the career was brief. Julio Jones - don't need to explain really another amazing wr. Keenan Allen - maybe the most underrated player in the league. Derrick Henry - love watching him run the ball. I will admit the violence he runs with is fun to watch. I know it was against the Bills but wow he sent Norman to another dimension! DeAndre Hopkins - used to love this dude but then hail murray happened and now ***** that dude lol

Cover 1 breakdown on Gregory Rousseau
section122 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wanted to look this up because I know the info is readily available. He will sign a contract worth 11.6 million for 4 years with 5.8 being a signing bonus. That is pennies for a DE. An average of 2.9 million will have him as somewhere around the 87th highest paid edge rusher. -
I hope that is true... 2 weeks after October 17th is home and with the home/away the nfl generally does hoping October 17th is a home game. Ralph's would be 103rd birthday and also my 40th! Really would love to be in the stands if it is indeed a home game! Knowing my luck though it will be their bye week.... lol

No CB in Draft? — No Problem or No, Problem?
section122 replied to RJ (not THAT RJ)'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Levi Wallace is much better than he is given credit for. Each year competition is brought in and each year he ends up being the starter. I don't think skipping cb was done on purpose but was more due to following their board. I echo the idea that Dane Jackson looks like a player. As I have said elsewhere McD is amazing with late round cbs. Josh Norman was incredible with him (5th rounder), Bene Benwikere and Tre Boston were serviceable as 4th and 5th rounders, Siran Neal and Taron Johnson are also 4th and 5th rounders. Further there are still a ton of veteran options available. I vote no problem. -
Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment
section122 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here are my thoughts: 1. Back to back DE was surprising but I liked it. Both players can rush from the interior and are huge. The pass rush was sorely lacking last year, is an overly expensive fa position, and the 2 best are old. The hope imo is that the Bills will pile on points and then pin their ears back without giving up beef on the line. 2. Back to back ots is a bit different. First there is a huge difference between 1st and 2nd vs 3rd and 5th rounds. Williams played very well last year but is only a couple of years removed from major injury. These picks are protection from having to play the fa ots they added. Lastly, if they do develop, tackles can be traded for a premium as evidenced by the orlando brown trade. 3. 3 6th rounders and 1 7th rounder. Every pick made sense. Mcd has earned late round db trust. He has proven either an eye for talent or a great ablitily to develop them or both. Either way those 2 made sense. Og and speed wr were positions most had pegged as an area of improvement. The only position I was hoping for that didn't get a pick was 1t. Love the high ceiling picks throughout. This was such a different draft experience for me and was very relaxing, first time ever for that lol. -
Steve Tasker made his prediction yesterday on One Bills Live that it would be Rouseau (gonna have to learn how to spell it lol). @BADOLBILZ has been championing for him at least over the last week. Hell even @ScottLaw was happy with the pick which might be the first time ever! I wanted JOK after the Ravens didn't take him. @NoSaint asked another poster where he would play and it gave me pause. Drafting at 30 I wanted a defensive player. I didn't want rb/wr or even o-line through the entire process. I am happy with the pick as he is "toolsy" but also had a year of really good production to show he can play. The fact that he is newish to the position is another positive as he put up those numbers and has room to grow. Excited and hopeful he can come in and make his presence felt quickly!

Zach Ertz about to be traded? [Edit: or Not]
section122 replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is no reason to pick up the option for Edmunds. It costs the same as the franchise tag. They can skip the option which immediately becomes guaranteed and tag him if they want after the year. He won't be tagged AND it won't be an indictment on how they feel about him. -
Im here sorry about that With 104th pick the Baltimore Ravens select Jordan Smith, edge, alabama birmingham. Edge is the last of the needs here filled with an interesting prospect with a checkered past. @CNYfan and the Saints are up with the last pick.

I always make my polls public. It helps me know who's opinion to take seriously lol.

*Brandon Beane Draft Presser LIVE @ 1:00 PM EST, 4/20/21*
section122 replied to ExWNYer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You asked me to call you crazy so I did that's all 🙂 On a serious note though yes it is only 7 spots but it is the difference of a 3rd rounder by the trade chart. You are giving up the 5th year option and need to have 7 guys you are comfortable with to make that move imo. Going from pick 10 to pick 17 isn't just 7 spots. If it was later in the draft I would agree with you but that high up in the draft that is more valuable than Zach Ertz imo. Zach Ertz of 2 years ago I wouldn't disagree at all and I am not totally against the idea as you said if he reworks the deal. That would be a must and I don't know that all of that can come together on the fly with the time constraints of the draft. It may already be agreed upon in principle if the Eagles player is there and just needs to be executed but I don't know if I buy that. I really like Ertz as a player but am concerned after what we saw last year. Is that who he is now or was that just a down year?
