In discussing cap management, the elephant in the room is Mario's contract. He is a very good player but is he worth the gigabucks? My guess is they restructure his contract to free up cap space next year. I said that he is good - not knocking him.

I think that Gilmore is a good CB, but this board has a tendency to over rate him a tad.

Now if OBJ could catch a ball one handed without those sticky gloves......

A WR can tackle a defender & we get the down over minus 10 yds. And no sense of urgency. Do we really need to huddle up?

I think that it would help speed up the game & reduce holding penalties if Guards & Tackles had to wear gloves similar to a boxing glove. I know - it sounds silly but think about it. They at least wouldn't be able to do the grabby, clutchy holds.

Mario is ok but seems to just be drifting through the games - not doing anything exceptional. Would love to see him take over a game. He gets lots of push on the pass rush but never seems to get there. Most of the time he is using one techniche - a bull rush which offers some pressure but not the sacks. Will he be a salary cap casualty next year?

I agree. They will need to re sign TT - I think he has a 2 year contract. Glenn is a likely victim of the numbers. Mario will either be cut; be traded; or have his contract redone. Players over 30 are always in danger of being let go either by cuts or by trade.

Are you serious? This kid is the real deal. There aren't many QBs in the league I would trade him for. He is right now a top 10 QB and he is only going to get better.

I pretty much agree. I think that Clev will wind up with the worst record as their poor drafts come home to roost. I think that Wash will be bad but will have a little better record than you state now that they benched RG111. Detroit will be better than .500.

This. They have a poor roster all the way around starting with their skill players on offense.

I would not call the EJ pick a disaster. He was a project. Projects by definition take a couple of years. The last 2 games it seemed that the light went on. IMO, he has turned the corner & if asked will play with confidence. Prior to this year, I had my doubts but I am slowly changing my opinion of him. We shall see.

Outside of their #1 TE, I don't think that their TE depth is any better than most teams.

Agreed. Decisions might be: Wait to see if Simms is claimed off waivers. If not, we then put him on the PS & cut MC Wait a few weeks to see if any QBs go down, In that scenario, we may get a low round pick in return. Re negotiate his contract to reflect his being 3rd string. Keep him as expensive insurance.

Thigpen can also fill in at RB if needed. A team can always make use of someone like Thigpen. Also, don't forget that Harvin 's hip thingie might linger.

I agree Mr. 26. Kickers are generally head cases. It is not wise to denigrate your kicker publicly. It isn't going to result in better kicking. Carpenter is a clutch kicker. He has had an injury problem which has probably left him a little rusty. But his body of evidence shows him to be our best kicker in a long time. Please Rex - don't go off half cocked shooting from the hip. The one thing that I always felt confident in last year was when Carpenter lined up for a kick. He was as close to automatic as we could hope for. I luv ya Rex, but sometimes you talk too much.

You say EJ has to show more consistency. Fair enough. But what makes you think that MC is more consistent? He's just been inconsistent longer.

I think it is possible that they keep him for a few games. If a couple of QB's go down, MC's value goes up.
