  1. I think that the fact that Whaley signed a new 3 year contract will give him the confidence & job security needed to give up our 1st & load up on 2nd & 3rd rounders. Without that security, he might have been inclined to go for a 1st round stud.
  2. Most of us fixate on the missed tackle at New England.
  3. It wasn't horrible. Two out of every three weeks, we were winning . Almost all of the losses were exciting & fun to watch. Those were fun times. It just confirms for me how the NYG's owner described a successful season - if the 16th game of the season means something. Sure, it would have been better if we won a few SBs but lacking that, we were all entertained every week to the Nth degree and the last game always seemed to mean something.
  4. Having UB playing in a joint stadium downtown would give political cover for NY State to pony up money for part of the cost.
  5. Mario is not a bum, but he is also not a superstar. The problem I have with Mario isn't with the few times that he was asked to drop into coverage. When he was asked to rush the passer, he wasn't able to, even with one on one with the RT. IMHO he has probably hit the wall. Sure, he will get a few sacks here & there over the next 4-5 years, but he is no longer a superstar & IMO will be a disappointment to the team that signs him.
  6. For the life of me, I can't ever remember OJ taking a big hit while he played for the Bills.
  7. He's a DB. Almost by definition, DB's sometimes get beat.
  8. True. The Bills scored a point a minute.Too bad they only had the ball for about 19 minutes.
  9. I agree Yolo. It is about the QBs. Look at all the coaches that are considered great by fans & media and then look who their QB was. Off the top of my head, the only exception I can think of is Joe Gibbs. There are very few coaches who have been failures who had an elite QB.
  10. i'm 6' 1" 235. Most of the weight is hanging over my belt. Just kidding. Anyway, all I want to know is if the kid has good hands.
  11. That was a decade ago. The DB rule not allowing any contact past 5 yds didn't come into full bloom till later. Now, you need a QB - period. Billick won with an average QB. It can be done - occasionally. Much better to sell the farm to get that QB though. Luckily, I think we have ours.
  12. I agree 100%. Especially the 2 Texas teams. The problem with RG111 IMO is that he is washed up. He is not as good as most of the needy teams starters, as bad as they are. Jerry might take him hoping for some of that rookie magic. He will be severely disappointed. Just to annoy everyone, I'll go on record that EJ - yes, that EJ, will have a better & longer career than REG111. And I am definitely NOT an EJ guy.
  13. not so fondly by the Mulligans on Hertel crowd who saw him wasted on cocaine on numerous occasions back in the 70's.
  14. Actually, we got a break as the London game was really a neutral site game buy was one of our away games.
  15. Murray was a one year wonder playing behind what was arguably the best OL in the league. McCoy has done it every year.
  16. Agree. I'm a Whaley guy. he knows what he is doing. Pretty good procurer of talent. Has some hits & misses - don't they all? There are a number of reasons for a team not making the playoffs, not the least of which is playing a 1st year QB. TT will improve on a terrific 1st year & just as Whaley has said, TT will win more games in the 4th Q. There is usually a nice bump from year 1 to year 2. Look at the improvement of the Washington QB. He just needed 15 games or so under his belt to boost his confidence. The same goes for TT. Confidence & accuracy are the 2 most important qualities needed by a QB. TT has accuracy & his confidence seems to have improved as the year went on. Another factor for not making the playoffs - the Brady factor. How many times have Miami & the Jets made the playoffs during the Brady era? Sorry for going off topic a bit.
