  1. I remember the Patsies with Dick McPherson was coaching, sat through a rain soaked evening in Foxboro and saw the Bills deliver a 41-17 beat down in 1992. Bills won 8 of 10 from 1990 - 1994. So it wasn't always this way.
  2. Also think with RD, that Shady could become a receiving weapon, Peyton did well with his RB's as a third or fourth option, esp when Sammy stretches the field...
  3. Don't forget Jim Dunaway...also charter member.
  4. If not for a guy named Jim Brown, [best running back of all time] a guy named Carlton "Cookie" Gilchrist would be the best running back of his era. He was a beast. Saw him run for a pro football record of 243 yards in a "mosh pit" in the rockpile. Bigger than JB, not quite as elusive, but linebackers and DT's feared him, and he may have been the best blocking RB ever. Most of his career was in Canada, as he never went to college, but one of the most underrated RB's of all time. http://www.espn.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/24656/cookie-gilchrist-rumbled-right-until-the-end
  5. I wuz there, def a forward lateral, refs were in the pocket, Bud Adams wanted a super bowl.
  6. I was there, in a sky box, probably one of the few bills fans in the building. Thrill of victory, agony of defeat.
  7. Is CJ a good enough athlete to play H-Back/Tight End. 6-5 249 as is?
  8. Or Andre Reed/Edelman 2.0?
  9. Admittedly Bills don't have the same QB talent, but why is Zay not Edelman 2.0
  10. I'm really old, but I have two. Cookie Gilchrist setting the at the time pro football single game rushing record in a quagmire in the Rockpile. Man vs. Boys. Mike Stratton's hit on Keith Lincoln in the AFL Championship game, the hit told the favored Chargers that the Bills were for real.
  11. Again dating myself, but Bills drafted Ernie Davis, and Lance Alworth was still on the board, Not sure if Kemp could have thrown that far, but 0 vs. HOF is a pretty bad first round pick...
  12. Dating myself, but the Bills did draft Ernie Davis #1....
  13. I grew up during the Kemp era. People forget what a tough SOB he was. He had an amazing number of TD's for scores, and used to get clobbered as he was fighting for the goal line in x and goal situations. He had 8 rushing TD's in '63, 5 in '64 [Champs] and 4 in '65 [Champs]. Not seeing a lot of today's China doll QB's with that kind of fortitude. Kelly had 4 AFC titles, Kemp had two titles and two MVP's.
  14. Didn't Willis McGahee blow out his knee in a bowl game. Supposedly caused him to drop from Top 5 to 23rd.
  15. In that 1975 Season, OJ also had 7 receiving TD's - the screen pass behind the electric company was a weapon.
  16. Are there any free agent Kickers who don't miss this many EPts?
  17. Coaches and players get fired when they suck, hopefully refs do as well.
  18. Sad to hear this, I'm an original 1960 era Bills fan, Marty played for the Bills 1965-1968. Had a reputation as a ferocious tackler, was the fourth linebacker on a great 1965 Bills team/defense that I always wished had gotten a shot at the Pack, who had trouble scoring against a mediocre Cleveland Defense in the NFL Championship. Two teams were very evenly matched, and both had great depth. Wonder if his hard hitting in any way led to this latest challenge. In that 1965 Championship Game, the Bills, east coast team traveling to the Left Coast, hung a donut on the top seeded Chargers.
  19. I see Randy Moss is kicking field goals in street shoes, and says he is in football shape...Get er done Dougie...
  20. Three December games in OP, What a novel idea to shut down the run...
  21. Home Run Throwback, I was there, in a box, my son & I were the only bills fans in the entire stadium. Thrill of victory, agony of defeat. Worst memory in my life.
  22. Cookie Gilchrist rushing for the [at the time] pro football rushing single game record in a mosh pit vs. the dog a*s Jets on 12/8/1963. 5 touchdowns, it was like sandlot football, he'd hit defenders and they would bounce off. Bills win 45-14. Worst Memory, losing to the pats in the playoffs that same year. Big snowstorm christmas week. Bleacher seats were created by pushing a garbage can into the snow pile, so you had a very "chill" seating area. Bills learned from that loss and went on to win two straight AFL championships.
  23. The passing game was a lot more physical, very few players got a free release like they do today. Butch Byrd was a 210 pound cornerback, don't see that size on the corner very often these days. Lamonica had a career record as a starter of 66-16-6 [.784], but a completion % below 50, and a QBR of 72.9.
