  1. Whether Mahomes plays or not, our two coordinators have shown over and over that they can come up with schemes to put the Bills in position to win. The first Bills-Chiefs game came while Edwards was hurt and the defense sucked. That was then. I think Milano can cover Kelce and the Bills D can contain Hill. The Chiefs ran Edwards-Hillaire a lot in the first game and they really miss him now. If Mahomes plays, I think the Chiefs are a 3 point favorite (the home game advantage). If it's Henne, the Bills should be a 3 point favorite.
  2. About losing respect if Mahomes doesn't play and the Bills beat KC -- you play the guys who line up against you. No team isn't beat up. We have no idea other than Beasley and maybe Davis who's hurt on the Bills, but my guess is there are quite a few guys who aren't 100%. We don't have to beat Mahomes to get to the WB -- we have to beat KC with whatever personnel they suit up.
  3. FWIW -- Chad Henne vs Buffalo Bills. 2008 (rookie season) -- Henne did not attempt a pass in either game between Miami and Buffalo, both Miami wins with Chad Pennington the QB for Miami. (The Dolphins had two QBs named Chad.) 2009 -- Chad Henne was the Miami QB in the first game between MIami and Buffalo, in Miami, playing well with Miami winning. Henne threw three picks in the second game, in Buffalo, and the Bills won. 2010 -- Henne won the first game between Miami and Buffalo, the first game of the 2010 season, played in Buffalo. Trent Edwards was the Bills QB. The Bills won the rematch, near the end of the season, with Henne playing for Miami and Ryan Fitzpatrick playing for Buffalo. 2011 -- Henne started the season as the Miami QB but he got hurt and had surgery. Matt Moore was the Miami QB against the Bills in both games. So Henne was 2-2 against the Bills. He moved on from Miami after 2011 and I don't know if he ever played against the Bills again.
  4. The Bills played really disciplined football. Only TWO penalties -- I can't remember a game with that few. Tough, responsible plays, with everyone doing their jobs. What they've shown is that they can win in many different ways. Shoot outs, tough physical games, it doesn't matter. One things is for sure. I have been wearing the same sweatshirt for the past 8 games and I'm not going to stop. It's a Wicked sweatshirt I bought when we saw the stage play. I washed it this week as a favor to the Missus but it still has its magical power. And I think the Bills are wicked good, as they'd say in Boston.
  5. The picks would be nice but I'd rather have Frazier remain in the job. This is actually exactly what the NFL is trying for -- it's been very difficult for black coaches to move up to be coordinators, and most HCs are hired from the coordinator position.
  6. The same sweatshirt I've worn during the last seven games. I'm not stupid.
  7. The Pats team that traded Garoppolo away was a much better team all-around than the Pats team now. Jimmy G might have done all right with that earlier team, but I don't think any QB is going to fix their problems all by himself.
  8. Maybe that's the x factor, but the y factor is SNOW. I can''t wait to see Lamar Jackson try to make some of his cuts
  9. So maybe she was a great catch. Or maybe you're just cruel, and figured the game wasn't punishment enough.
  10. I believe Wrecks Ryan is available. NOOOOOOO
  11. That year the Bills started out as one of the worst teams in the league. They were consistently terrible. Then they played in Minnesota and upset the Vikings, with the famous Josh hurdle, then they went back to bad but got better during the year. The Process was underway but was incomplete. The plan was not to have Peterman or Allen as QB, but the expected starter hurt his back slipping on something, so it was the terrible veteran or the very raw rookie. Tough choice. Also the O line was terrible that year. After that year, Beane brought in almost a completely new line, and things really started to improve.
  12. Any chance of the standing Buffalo helmets?
  13. The Colts defense is at least as good as the Ravens', and probably better. And the Colts play great complementary football. Look at the field position battle they won for most of the first half. Except for one ill-advised kickoff return by Roberts which pinned the Bills back, all the other poor field position was due to Indy good plays. I don't think the Ravens are as well-disciplined as the Colts. They didn't adjust very well against the Steelers, and Pittsburgh was thiiiiiis close to getting back into the game. The Bills have a far better passing attack than Pittsburgh's, and probably a little better rushing attack (not saying much). And of course we have the weapon everyone knows about, Josh Allen, but just as important our secret weapon is Brian Daboll, who's probably already sitting up nights coming up with ways to attack the Ravens D based on what worked or didn't work against the Steelers.
  14. There are no bad teams or even average teams left in the playoffs. It's going to be tough games every week. As it should be. I don't think the Bills have played in snow this year. Or the Ravens for that matter. It's too early to get an accurate weather forecast for Saturday evening, but if there's snow it could really impact the play.
  15. Wyatt Teller, ex-Bill, made second team all-pro. Good for him and the Browns, not for us. Beane traded Teller based on his performance up to then, and it's hard to fault Beane for that. Our O line was pretty well set, not great but good enough. Teller was promising but not dominant. After the trade, Teller did a Josh Allen, drastically improving his body and his game. He's now one of the best guards in the game.
  16. We're likely to lose two key offensive components -- Daboll of course, but also Daryl Williams. Williams has been a rock at right tackle but is likely to get a huge contract offer the Bills can't match. Josh Allen doesn't get to make a lot of his great throws if we can't replace Williams with someone good.
  17. I should have connected with you two before I left SLC a couple of years ago... Pretty much the second half of the season. Last year and the first part of this year, the Bills would start out great, get a nice lead by halftime, and then try not to lose the rest of the way. We almost lost to the Rams and NE by doing that. Ever since the Arizona game, the Bills have just kept playing murder ball for 60 minutes.
  18. The bright side is that the Bills are very healthy and are on a tremendous roll. If the Bills and Steelers both win this weekend, KC will play either Baltimore or Tennessee after several of KC's key players took two or three weeks off, and after KC pretty much coasted the last month, playing just well enough to win. There could be a big surprise in store.
  19. If Gailey was fired, he would still collect the rest of the pay on his contract. If he resigned or retired, he won't. Seriously, if Daboll gets a HC job, we could do a lot worse than Gailey as OC. I don't think there's any possibility of Fitz coming back too, since he'll cost way too much for a backup QB, and the Bills seem fine with Barkley in that job.
  20. The proof is in the pudding. I can't remember the last dumb mistake on a Bills special teams play, except the apparently unavoidable blocks in the back. And on the other side of the coin, the positive side, they have made so many great plays. Bojorquez has the tools to be a real weapon, instead of a cannon that shoots and we hope we know where it's going. If Josh Allen could make such big strides each offseason, perhaps Bojo can too. And the decision to cut Hauschka and go with Bass-O-Matic (you younger people should Google that) couldn't have been easy. Farwell and Hauschka were (are?) friends, but Farwell did what was best for the team, and now we're set at PK for a decade or more.
  21. I think Allen's ceiling is on the penthouse apartment of a very tall building. He'll pass through many lower ceilings as he continues to improve.
  22. The more I learn about football, the more I realize there's so much I don't know. This year the Bills' offense has seemed like magic. I always wondered what the tricks were behind the magic.
  23. No, I have to disagree. Andre Reed, James Lofton, Don Beebe, Keith McKellar, Thurman Thomas. Reed made his living going across the middle where most players feared to tread. Reed, Lofton, and Thomas all made the Pro Bowl in 1991. Thomas had 631 receiving yards. Al Edwards didn't start but he was a good player. If there's an advantage for this year's team, it's with the offensive coordinator. What Daboll comes up with is amazing. As for the HCs, both took lousy teams and, along with brilliant GMs, made them better quickly. Levy was able to keep a great team focused and together for years, and McD hasn't had a chance to do that yet. Levy had a team full of stars and had them working together. McD has a team of very good players and has them working together. I'll take either one, don't want to rate one above the other.
  24. The NFL moved away from selling big hits, to selling high scoring, and also moved away from brain injuries to protecting players. The game has changed enormously. I think Madden had a lot to do with it -- Madden the game more than Madden the coach. People get used to seeing offensive production and they expect to see it on the field too.
  25. Daboll has shown that if he's NOT given great players, he struggles (ref: last year), but when he gets great players to work with, he's extremely creative and has a lot of fun. So pay him, Pegulas, and convince him he's never going to get a situation more fun that this one, where he can live hear his grandparents and be loved by the community he grew up in, and continue to win because ALL the Bills' key offensive players are still growing into their prime. Well, except Diggs, whom we shouldn't reasonably expect to get any better than he already is. I learned in my own career, years ago, that if you go chasing prestigious job titles, you're going to struggle. If you find and take jobs that you find interesting, challenging, rewarding, and important, you'll be more motivated and more challenged and more satisfied. I hope Daboll feels the same way.
