  1. Yeah, we could have had Mahomes, and Gronk, and a lot of other guys instead of the guys we got. That's how it works. Mahomes is doing incredibly well after a year to watch and learn, and surrounded by all that talent and coached by Reid. A perfect situation for a talented young player to excel in. Mahomes in Buffalo would not have had any of that, and we'd be screaming about using a high #1 on a QB when we already had Tyrod Taylor to manage games for us. I do not fault the Bills for that trade. I think in the long run both teams will be winners as a result of the trade.
  2. Oh, come on. Buffalo is lovely in June. Not in February. The city should host sports events and other events in the summer. Put its best foot forward.
  3. The reason a lot of teams sit a rookie QB and have him watch for a year is that he isn't ready to play and they don't want to ruin his confidence. Or, they have an established starter and want to get another good season out of him, getting them the best chance to win. I think the chance that Allen's confidence could be dented is about zero. In his case I think his experience this past year will help him because he had to try out his tool set to see what worked and what needs replacing. He wouldn't have had that chance sitting on the bench. Also, what he would have learned this year is that the Bills have a lot of bad players on offense, and that information wouldn't be much use next year when they've upgraded the O line, the WRs, and the TE. I think Beane fell in love with the physical talent coupled with the best attitude I've ever seen in a QB. Never brags, never throws a teammate under the bus, but still projects leadership and confidence.
  4. Newspaper writers have to write something in the offseason and it's part of Beane's job to provide something to write about. Never never never believe anything a GM says before the drat. It is a complete disadvantage for them to give any hint about what their real plans are.
  5. I guess Wrecks wants another chance to coach Reggie Ragland. Yeah. I was saying to my wife the Chiefs should call time out before the last few Patriots plays. Then Romo said it. My wife was not impressed.
  6. It is going to be interesting watching the Darnold-Allen competition. I think they're both very promising talents, with somewhat different strengths and weaknesses. As always a lot will depend on the quality of the players around them, particularly their Olines.
  7. I remember this. I don't understand why the Bills drafted him in the first place.
  8. The Packers will need some Pettine because their OC can't Hackett.
  9. 2021 is a long way away. Mahomes is playing great while surrounded by a great offensive cast. How will he do as that cast ages, leaves as FAs, gets injured, gets traded for defensive help...? I don't know. I think he'll always be at least very good, and will be outstanding when he has help. Mayfield is also playing great but with less help than Mahomes has. He might become the best of the bunch. Darnold looks like he'll develop into an excellent QB. Allen. Who knows what he'll do with a better O line and receivers? The Bills can't win relying on him as their best QB and RB, and no RB will be effective behind our O line. And Allen does need to get better, too. Can't miss the easy throws, Josh.
  10. He was a dominant player. Wade Phillips almost quit as Bills HC when it was discussed whether to cut Washington to save cap dollars. Teams built their entire defense around the guy. There aren't stats for double team blocks swallowed up, or any of the other things Washington was good at.
  11. What makes you sure Kugler wants to come here? McDermott fired Castillo after the three best starters on last year's O line left and SURPRISE our O line sucked this year. The O line problems were Beane's fault as much as Castillo's. So the track record for O line coaches here is, get used to the view from under the bus. And look at all the premium talent on the Bills' O line now. We've got..ummm... Sure, what a great spot for Kugler to come into. Why would ANY O line coach want to come to the Bills?
  12. It would be just like the Jets to hire a DC before hiring a HC. What serious HC candidate would consider signing on with Wrecks in place already? Wrecks was a one-trick pony. He took a talented Jets roster which was a good fit for his scheme, and went to the AFC championship twice. I suppose that's better than taking a talented Jets roster and having a losing record...which is what he did to the Bills. I call him Wrecks because he arrogantly and selfishly took a great, powerful, scary defense built by Jim Schwartz, and flat-out broke it. He insisted on putting his own system in place with the wrong personnel, and I think the Bills gave up on him when he had Marcel Dareus dropping into pass coverage. I actually think he's a better bet for Miami. That's a franchise in free fall, giving up on their QB and HC, and having dumped all the talent on the roster. The Miami ownership could easily make the same mistake the rookie Pegulas did, bringing in a celebrity coach to get attention and sell tickets. Good luck with that, fish. You can battle it out with the Jets or last place for the next three or four years, while the Bills finally catch the aging Patriots.
  13. I really don't care how many yards he passes or runs for. I want the Bills to win 12 regular season games a year, and Allen to stay healthy. Your wins are the only stats that matter.
  14. Progress could technically be 8-8 next year, and that's not good enough. 10-6 or better, with a wild card game we win. That's real progress.
  15. Looks like Robiskie is taking the fall for Kelvin Benjamin being a fat, lazy bust of a player. It wasn't Robiskie who traded for Benjamin and anointed him the #1 WR on the team. Robiskie had very little to work with talent-wise, but did get some of the younger guys going, which could pay off in years ahead.
  16. What I like is that the Bills don't have so many holes to fill this year. They could stand to upgrade at some defensive positions but they have no suck-o starters on D. The O line and WR are the two areas of need, so the Bills can concentrate on those areas and bring in good FAs for depth elsewhere.
  17. The Steelers should show AB who's boss. Cut Pig Ben and sign Nathan Peterman. Then we'll see how AB's stats look.
  18. I forgot about the Hoyer hit. OK, he's always had those tendencies. So suspend him before he cripples someone.
  19. OJ went to prison for stealing some sports stuff, but really for murder. Alonso should be suspended for the hit on Allen, but really for hitting Flacco late -- and Flacco's never been the same since. Also for the Fins WR who cheap-shotted Aaron Williams, ending his career. Miami trash need to get the message. It's a culture thing with that scum team. Alonso didn't play like that when he was with the Bills or Eagles.
  20. It's the same most years. Get a feel-good win over a hated rival, or lose and gain the equivalent of a second round draft pick. I'll take the win, and give the FAs around the league the idea this is a team on the rise, with a couple of obvious deficiencies that are all that's holding it back. That reputation is likely worth more than a crap-shoot second rounder.
  21. Fournette is a beast. The new version of Marshawn Lynch. I don't know if he's a good character guy, but he's an excellent player. If the Jags don't want him, maybe we can trade a low-talent LB for him, and keep the string of larcenous trades going.
  22. At one point I think there were 7 Williamses on the team. There was definitely a wide receiver, who was on the team for a while before being cut.
