  1. Is a forum, you don't have to read every one. You can skip the ones that don't think worthy of your time. With only 2 teams left playing, talking about one of them is quite common.
  2. Wouldn't mind seeing us pick up someone on the Free Agent market, but doubt we have the resources to trade for someone this offseason, considering the tricks we've already traded. Voted for Mallet but don't think he is a long term answer.
  3. Think a lot of that opinion on Reed comes from the fact he rarely got a lot of separation. He was a master of positioning and had great hands, so if put the ball in the right spot he would use his body and hands to make the play. If he had the QB's that Molds had I don't think he would have put up the great numbers he had because few QB's could get away with throwing into coverage as well as Kelly could, because of his arm strength/accuracy combo. Their strengths matched up perfect, which is why both are in hall now probably. Not trying to take anything away from Reed, as he was perfect receiver for the situation.
  4. Don't think will be that high, not with 4th overall to sign.
  5. after watching the highlight film, he does seem to look a bit like kiko in way tackles and covers sideline to sideline, other than the fact he goes through the blockers rather than run around them.
  6. Unless they upgrade the RT spot, don't think we will have enough QB's to make it through the whole season with run and shoot.
  7. Well guess they are going all on their opinion that they believe they are ready to win this year. If they pick in bottom half of the draft next year, is a good trade. However if they are under 500 and picking in top 5 of draft, big time overpay. Hope they are right.
  8. With all the high draft choices on the roster, wouldn't be surprised at all if they do try and trade him. Unless he is starting, who do you cut to keep him? Bottom receiver or 2 have to be able to play special teams. That mans Goodwin and Graham cant hold that spot. With Woods, Williams and now Watkins who do you cut if don't trade Johnson?
  9. @Simon Wow, how did you get to be a moderator with an attitude like that. This site must really be hurting for people.
  10. I'll be sad to see Byrd go, but lets face it, with Parker you have to get deal done early. Once he feels your holding back or he decides to dig in, he will fight for way beyond what makes sense for his client, and have a feeling its close to that point already if not already past it.
  11. So someone actually has watched that show, didn't expect that. However, my highschool football coach used to say that back in the early 80's, so doubt needed to watch that show to come up with it. Also it was not a press conference so thumbs down to this post.
  12. You could have put George Wilson on that list for a long time. Usually don't make that list unless you show flashes of being able to contribute at least. Personally have always though that both of them could be solid players given the right situation. Think Easley could have done more last year given a chance, but hard to say he earned that chance. Did seem last coaching staff liked to keep the status quo, and often seemed to keep the player that was in the position rather than the player that had the most potential or was best player. Course that's an outsiders view and have no links to support that.
  13. After watching this film, I'm actually less optimistic about the LB pick. He seemed to take himself out of over half the run plays, and guess wrong very often. Tough to tell how much was by design of play, and how much was his instincts, but wow, he ran right to the blockers way more than to the hole. He did have some penetration plays which is nice, but also saw allot of big plays go to where he vacated. Honestly, he looked like the 3rd best LB on the team to me watching that film.
  14. Can we really say for sure no juicing for anyone? Lots of athletes from the 70's admitted to it after their careers were over, mostly football players. There was nothing done to stop or to test back then, and people really didn't seem to care. Wouldn't be surprised if more than half of non Olympic type athletes juiced before testing was around, and even since was so easy to find stuff that wouldn't show up in a test. Not that I am implying or have any reason to suspect Thomas did, just that who really knows who did for sure. Only people we know for sure did, are because one supplier turned these people in. Shoot there were people on my High School's football team that took steroids that never got caught even. You know there where other suppliers who came before and during, so only those who got caught we know for sure.
  15. Think need to do bit more research, was a ton more than just hurting a few dogs, he ran a criminal organization, gambled, associated with known criminals for years, the whole Ron Mexico thing, and lied to everyone face till had no choice but to admit it. This isn't a descent person who made a mistake, is a guy who repeatedly repeated mistakes and did everything in his power to continue on that path till the law got enough evidence to stop him. I am not against forgiving him for his crimes and letting him live a new life if he chooses to do it legally, but am not one for putting him on a pedestal after all he has done and giving any money to organization who does. If Bills sign him I will do same thing did when Philly did, not watch any games, support the team or any of the sponsors of the team he is on.
  16. This is why so many of us were pushing for LB's to be drafted with our first round selection if one worth drafting was available. One wasn't available as it turned out, but so many people kept saying how LB's are a dime a dozen and don't need LB's in today's NFL. Personally, I think LB's are they key to any defense, as they are asked to do so much in both running game and passing game, and have to be able to cover short zones, rb's and te's. They also need to be able to play the run and blitz when asked. Top defenses are almost always led by a LB who is a beast, or a complete linebacker core that dominates most games. While can be said the Giants don't have that and won several superbowls, they just squeaked into the playoffs when making the superbowl as well, and their lb core isn't top end but isn't bad either. I hope we look to improve in that area next draft, and devote a pick in one of top 3 rounds if any worthy candidates are still on the board, cause we really need a injection of talent at lb IMO.
  17. Love the way so many people feel if isnt on the web it didnt happen.
  18. Technically both Dorin Dickerson and Brad Smith are supposedly able to play RB as well as WR, as they have in their past, as well as receiver, argument could be made that we have 2 more capable for emergency fill in there as well. But agree, is more vital to make sure have enough RB's if want to field a traditional set consistently, than be able to flood the field with capable receivers in most cases. Not that would consider White a more capable back the Dickerson, but he has put more time into learning the position in the offseason so if just looking for a body to fill the position, guess better to get one that is familiar with the plays, than one capable of actually picking up yards.
  19. Well lets see, was the first game with the new defense, with most of the defense either changing positions or starting for first time for team. They played ok most time on first and 2nd downs, but sucked it up on 3rd downs most the day. The new CB's didn't fair great, LB's looked like a group of cast offs and lower round talent, and d-line didn't provide much pressure. Hard to say if was because of new system and needing to learn their roles so don't have to think as much and can react more, or was because they wont be a good defense really. Personally feel allot of the problems were related to players not being where they were supposed to be consistently, or missing assignments all together. Though few of them were same old problems were players just couldn't make plays, like McKelvin in slot. I feel once Mcgee (or if) gets healthy he takes over slot and helps with that issue. Not sure we have an answer for LB's other than hoping they improve with experience/time. Do think is bit early to be freaking out about state of team, even though it wasn't a pretty loss. 4 turnovers and trouble getting stops on 3rd down will usually mean ugly loss. Think the 3rd down issue is one that will improve as players become more comfortable with their roles in new defense and younger players get more experience, so that part should improve significantly as season goes on. In this game several of the bad throws and turnovers appeared to be WR and QB making different reads on defense to me, and not being on same page. How much of that was Jets defense tricking them as opposed to being an issue that will haunt us rest of season is yet to be seen, but I am hoping that this is something that will improve as well. Overall can't say the defense looking like needs time to get in sync is a surprise to me, but was expecting the offense to be able to keep them in games for first quarter of season while defense was getting a chance to gel.
  20. It was their first game in the new defense, they are still learning it. Each game they should improve and by week 5-6 they should be a pretty good defense IMO. Several young players, and players playing different positions, as well as several new starters to go along with a new system, doesn't surprise me they started off with bunch of missed assignments and growing pains. Was expecting better showing than they gave however. The turnovers by the offense didn't exactly help them, but didn't really expect to see a finished product yet. Was hoping the offense could do enough to allow the defense some time to gel, but apparently they need time as well.
  21. Well it was the first game with the new defensive scheme, have to give them time to work out the kinks, not to mention all the new starters and ones playing different positions. Think defense played respectable most of the game, but they do need to get off the field on 3rd downs a ton better, that was pretty pathetic. Expected a better showing from Fitz honestly. Not sure if receiver and him were on same page at times, but its not like hes working with new receivers or new offense. Hoping that was partially communication breakdowns on not making the same reads as receivers on routes. I think its a bit early to panic however, and the whole preseason thing has been proven to not be a good indicator for last 20 years, not sure why one game in suddenly have a chicken little running out about preseason and sky falling though.
  22. Beleive they can give the bonus money at time of signing, and under that years cap figures, so if give bonuses for re-signings may be able get it under this years cap.
  23. Give Rex a break, what else does he have to look forward too when his offense is on the field.
