Both stay, at least one more season. Pegula is not a knee jerk kind of a guy. He won't make a move until his consultant evaluates the organization enough to make an intelligent recommendation, and unless he is pretty sure he can hire someone who would be an improvement. Pegula is a successful businessman and will not make a move just to appease some brain damaged fans who want blood without thinking things through.

Week 17 Predictions: Bills at Pats*
CodeMonkey replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills by 10 or more is leading the poll right now. I love Billievers -
For those of you who read body language...

This is nothing new or cutting edge. Ask any poker player, the good ones have been reading players forever. It's also why a few football players, RBs in particular, like the dark visors. LBs can't see their eyes. -
And if Manuel fixes his mechanics enough to be an accurate passer.

A couple evaluations of Bills at Cheatriots
CodeMonkey replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Pats* cheating has nothing to do with any complex, inferiority or otherwise. I suspect it might have been more if the Pats* needed the game for home field advantage or something. But you typically don't see many spreads much higher than that. -
As you said, the Pats* are a "superior division rival". You really think having Kyle Orton in gives the Bills a chance to win that game? If (and it's a BIG if) the Bills win that game, it will not be because of Orton. Hell, maybe Marrone put a bet down and thinks that if BellyCheat pulls his starters in the 2nd half that Orton can get it under the 10.5 spread.

That WR class was very deep. Any one of the top 3, and probably even more than that, would have made the Bills better. But no WR can do a lot without a QB that can get him the ball. The point being Whaley could have gotten a very good WR that would have helped the team without giving up an additional first round pick. In my opinion he grossly overpaid and that trade was a big mistake by Whaley.
-
This is how I feel as well. Not panic, he probably really believed (might well still) that Manuel has what it takes to be a good NFL QB. He did swing for the fences assuming he had a QB in place. Although I have felt all along that giving up the extra first for Watkins was foolish with such a good WR class, the real mistake (so far anyway) was EJ Manuel.

Well as I said, if the Bills have decided that Manuel will most likely not be the starter next year either then yes, they should start Orton.

Nate Silver's ELO System: 16% chance of the Bills winning. (http://fivethirtyeig...ahawks-edition/) Microsoft's Cortana: 80% chance that NE* wins. (http://www.businessi...week-17-2014-12) CBS with spread (NE - 10.5): 7 take the Bills and 1 took the Pats* CBS straight up: 7 and the computer take the Pats* and 1 raving lunatic (LaCanfora) took the Bills. (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/features/writers/expert/picks/straight-up/17) ESPN straight up: 12 and the computer take the Pats* and 1 more raving lunatic (Mortensen) took the Bills. Personally I'd prefer a coach, and organization, that looks further ahead than one meaningless game. There is no benefit to starting Orton other than the very small chance of winning said meaningless game. Orton is well known, and does not need the additional experience. Manuel absolutely needs live reps. Unless, of course, the evaluation of Manuel has already been made by the Bills and they have no intention of him being the starting QB next season either.
-
I am not looking at it from a evaluation perspective, because of course that would be ludicrous as you explained. I am looking at it as giving a young player in his 2nd year, who in theory has been in the classroom full time for the past 12 weeks, a little practical on-field time to apply some of what he has learned in the past 3 months. That's the benefit that I see. Given the fact that the Bills will not advance to the post season regardless of the outcome Sunday, what is the benefit of playing Orton to the future of the Bills organization?
-
I'm glad Cinci won. I greatly prefer the 1pm start. The Bills would not have beaten NE* in a game that mattered to them anyway.
-
No established coach will want to come to a team with no starting QB, and no 1st round draft pick in the upcoming draft to get one. Any large market team can pay what Pegula will pay.
-
Not fair? He has been not playing for quite a while now, presumably healthy, and assuming he has been doing more than sitting around and getting high the past few months learned something. If he hasn't learned quite a bit in the time he has been a benchwarmer then god help the Bills. Maybe Marrone doesn't start Manuel, but when the NE* defensive starters start getting pulled in the 2nd half there is no reason to play Orton other than Manuel is not ready, and will never be ready, to be a NFL starting QB.

Positive Side - Bills were a playoff caliber team this year
CodeMonkey replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spiller was hurt most of the season, and not an every down back even when healthy. I love Fred, but he is old, the other backs are rejects from other teams, and the offensive line is mediocre on a good day. That doesn't add up to a good running game. -
Why would Orton opt out of his 5.4 mil contract? He is healthy and I cannot imagine anyone else signing him. Based on this quote from Marrone ... He apparently thinks Manuel sucks more.

Positive Side - Bills were a playoff caliber team this year
CodeMonkey replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are absolutely NOT a playoff caliber team. The offense is pathetic, and there is little hope of it getting much better this off season. The defense and special teams are playoff caliber, but everything on the offensive side of the ball from coaches to players, with the exception of a couple players, are not. How can you make a statement about the Bills being "there" with that offense, no QB, and no first round pick this draft? -
Who he actually beat Sunday was an alleged top 5 defense. Who he beat in his other 2 wins are KC and SF. And winning 3 of their last 5 including what must have been a horrific outing against the Rams. He is also more of a pocket passer than a read-option style QB which has allowed him to remain healthy thus far. He also does not seem to have the offensive weapons that Manuel does, and certainly does not have the defense Manuel does to make up for his mistakes. I hope Manuel amounts to something because frankly, it would appear the Bills are stuck with him for a while at least. But like I said earlier, if the choice was mine, I'd swap Manuel for Carr in a millisecond.
-
All I care about is now the Bills play at 1 instead of 4 Sunday!
-
My answer is either over the steaming pile of dung the Bills have now at that position.
-
Exactly, in my opinion. Pegula is smart enough to realize what he doesn't know regarding professional football and will wait to hear from a consultant that he trusts before saying or doing much more than the PR stuff he has done to this point. People used to B word about how much Mr. Wilson "meddled", now those same people seem to want Mr. Pegula to do that same thing.

Good, now we can start EJ and sit down this clown Orton.
CodeMonkey replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah until Manuel is out again with damaged knees or something else. I just read through the last few pages at the arguments over which Bills QB sucks more, Orton or Manuel. And who/what is to blame for Manuel sucking, the Bills coaching staff, or Manuel's lack of ability. Truly depressing.
