  1. I thought PMing was for the source, not who the starting QB will be according to said source (aside from it not being EJ). C'mon Metz, post it up so we can argue in favor of it or against it with ad hominem attacks based on whether the proposed starter matches our preferred candidate!!
  2. I've read that post a few times. Just so it's easy, here it is: All I'm saying is that if anyone besides EJ is named starter, Metz can claim he was right. I have no reason to doubt Metz, I'm just wondering why he didn't say "I'm pretty sure I know it's [insert name here] who is starting." This offseason is getting to me, obviously.
  3. Have I missed a post today where he says who the coaches have decided on? The way it reads to me, if the coaches name Cassel or Taylor the starter, Metz can say he was right. Now, I tend to think that Metz must have a legitimate source, but still.
  4. My favorite argument was that his arm wouldn't last the season
  5. I'm a bit late to the party this morning. Metz: to clarify, did you say you know which QB the coaches have settled on, or just the idea that the coaches have settled on one of the QBs that's not EJ?
  6. That is awesome. TR is a hero of mine, and that is one of his many wonderful quotes.
  7. Gotta keep the competition fair. Good move.
  8. Watch a replay of the browns game if you can. He made the throws and showed the pocket presence people were asking about after the carolina game. There is a taylor highlight reel on the team website, but obviously that's going to show a limited number of snaps.
  9. This notion of extrapolating number of scoring drives is a bit dubious, but hey, preseason is what it is. EJ does seem to yield a lot of 3 and outs / punts, but I've absolutely seen the progression this offseason and want to keep him (and I'm convinced we will). That said, its appeared obvious to me that tyrod has that offense humming. In command, throwing it nicely, picking up yardage when the play is broken or read option. I'm not as concerned about the TDs, whether they were drops or not. With our skill players healthy and mccoy in the backfield, I'd be reasonably optimistic about our redzone performance. It seems to me that tyrod would get us into the red zone more often than the other guys.
  10. The small sample of players I've chatted with indicated taylor has a lot of support from players, and this was before the first preseason game (so who knows what has happened since). However, it was a small sample, and I can't be confident their opinions truly represent the team. I also wasn't asking them specifically about the QB comp, they just mentioned it. They were defensive players too. Pittsburgh game will be plenty interesting. I'll be up in the mountains though oddly enough like metz, so I'll have to rely on reports.
  11. Could be, but I don't discount Taylor's deep ball. Cassel's on the other hand, it looks like he's heaving a shot put.
  12. Being happy with EJ's progression is one thing, but when people start bashing tyrod's performances this preseason, it becomes amusing. He's throwing well.
  13. That's what I recall. Certainly less catchy than how they're spinning it now.
  14. Didn't Cole originally say this before yesterday's game? Just curious.
  15. Does Easley have a spot due to his ST play?
  16. If EJ had the same first half as tyrod i have to think we'd all be excited about EJ's performance. (and I was excited by Ej's second half performance, I'm just sayin)
  17. This is where I'm at as well. And Tyrod worked the pocket and had his eyes downfield last night. He ran only when he had to or it was designed. It's fine to prefer someone else, but I think TT gave his critics exactly what they were asking for last night.
  18. I can understand that, but the things that jumped out for me were how easy the accuracy came on some of those throws. The sideline routes we on a dime. They looked like standard starting QB throws, nothing eye popping, but the fact that they looked routine for him and weren't in between bad throws made me confident in his arm.
  19. I thought he played very well.
  20. Rex also said he was "extremely happy" with how TT played in the first half, fwiw.
  21. Good lord is everyone a 'hater' or 'lover'? I'm of the opinion that Taylor has played the best in preseason and is in the pole position, but that does not preclude me from being excited about EJ's development, or my hope that we keep him on the team due to his progress and prospects for the future. I'd be happy if he got a series with the 1s next week, but I think Taylor should start. Hell I even think Cassel has acquitted himself well and will be an excellent 1-2 game stopgap if need be. I think he's more in consideration for the starting role than many think.
  22. I like him more than most. He's definitely locked down the 2nd role at the least. I just think taylor runs a more potent offense.
