11/17/24 Game 11 GAMEDAY! Bills vs Chiefs post game Thread
billsfan89 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
KC's style of winning (close games where they make clutch plays) is going to result in some losses. I think they have at least two more losses in them at a minimum. They are still the team to beat but the one seed for the Bills is at least in play. -
I never said he would win a Super Bowl, I said he would compete with elite teams which if you are a consistent 11+ win team making the playoffs you will do that. Harbaugh as an NFL coach has taken a team to the Super Bowl and multiple Conference Championship games so that's pretty close already.
-
Harbaugh has the problem of playing a bit too conservative but I also think that in his run with the 49ers his uber conservative philosophy was driven by his lack of a quality QB. Alex Smith was a quality game manager but a QB with limitations. He then turned to Kap who was more dynamic with his legs but not a great passer. I think with Herbert he has a QB with far less limitations in his prime that will allow him to run a less limited offense. That being said even if Harbaugh employs a bit of a dated "play not to lose" offensive style despite that limitation he is still going to have a team that is going to win 11+ games fairly consistently. He's got a fairly flawed team sitting at 6-3 with a big lead at the half in a game that could have them at 7-3. Add a little more talent on both sides of the ball and it isn't hard to see a team with the QB and HC in place being successful.

I always love a late season bye week. A bye after week 10 is always optimal esp in the era of only one team getting a post season bye. For the Bills I wouldn't say they were "hurting for a bye" but the bye is going to allow some key players to come back healthy (Coleman, Carter, Kincaid, and Milano to name a few) and give some guys nursing longer term injuries a chance to get better for the rest of the season and playoffs.

I had that feeling, it didn't feel intentional, it felt like Romo was buying into the Chiefs just always know how to win thing a bit heavier than usual. I get KC makes clutch plays but Romo saying how Josh Allen missed that deep throw to Morris because of the mythology of KC was just nauseating. -
Chargers next season when they add some more talent are going to be a serious problem as they are already very good despite some talent flaws. Harbaugh is a great coach and Herbert is the best QB Harbaugh has had as an NFL coach. The Chargers adding a couple of pieces on both sides of the ball in the off-season is going to allow them to compete with elite teams in the AFC.

Bengals fans have been saying for years that their coach over relies on the Burrow/Chase connection similar to how for a few years Allen/Diggs bailed out the Bills. Assuming the Bengals season goes off the rails this year their coach is going to be on the hot seat in 2025.

Poona had some flashes in a stretch of games last year. But for the most part didn't do a whole lot.

When it comes to drafting the Bills have been very good in the McD era and in the past 3 drafts from 2022-2024 look like they are on a heater (hard to tell on 2024 but the "early returns" look good) so whatever they are doing just keep it up.

I think had they had a spy Josh could have gotten a 3-4 yard gain but Spags who is a great DC either didn't have a spy or there was a complete breakdown in communication -
Is this the best team in the Allen era?
billsfan89 replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
2022 the team had two very big flaws even if you factor out the injuries. The offense lacked a second consistently good pass catching option besides Diggs and the offensive line was a complete mess. The Bills had Spencer Brown coming off a solid rookie year but having major back surgery made him a suspect player to go into the season without a proven vet option there. The Bills also had a suspect guard combo with Bates and Saffold. Finally there was hope that Gabe Davis in year 3 fresh off that insane KC playoff game would take a step up as a WR opposite Diggs but that didn't happen and the rest of the Bills WR core was mostly role players. I went into 2022 thinking the defense and special teams was stacked while the offense had some issues. The issues manifested on offense while injuries hit the defense hard in season. -
He's been very good, McD has shown he knows how to develop corners consistently in fact with how solid Hamlin has played McD is showing he deserves full trust when it comes to all things secondary.

So about the refs tonight UPDATE: Rams game discussion on page 14

I didn't see anything egregious outside of the obvious missed facemask and the last catch not being reviewed. Everything else seemed like call that "could go either way" so to speak. -

I think he wanted to call a timeout and basically just did the challenge as a "why not". John Fox used to do challenges when he felt like his team needed an extended timeout because reviews were longer than standard timeouts. I think with each coach getting 2 challenges and each Turnover/TD getting reviewed plus anything under two minutes challenges are not as super valuable as they once were. I think you can burn one here or there. -

It was a hold the offensive linemen basically did a bear hug. That being said the refs only missed two calls the facemask on Davis and the lack of a review on the last KC catch. I'm not sure if there were any missed calls that went for the Bills but overall it wasn't a poorly officiated game at all. -
Week 11, Chefs v. Bills, GAME BALLS!
billsfan89 replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
A "three phases" win for sure. Special teams was error free and made a nice punt return early. Defense only let up 21 points including just 7 in the second half. Offense put up 30 on an elite defense. Coaching made the right calls for the most part. The only errors were Bass's missed PAT early and the 4th down disaster with the INT. They play a 5 DL front a lot, Bills gonna have to have something in their back pocket to counter that should/when the Bills matchup with KC in the playoffs. -
Week 11, Chefs v. Bills, GAME BALLS!

I honestly think McD really deserves a lot of credit. He called a very aggressive game, of course the first fourth down attempt was a complete disaster but late game he went for it again to play to win and to "not lose". As far as the players Josh Allen - Made great plays including that 4th and 2 TD run. What an amazing talent he is I really do love watching him play. Shakir- Made some key plays was just consistently making plays Groot and Ed Oliver - KC has an issue at LT but the rest of their offensive line is very good and those two made their presence felt consistently Benford - This guy is an insane difference maker a sack and the game icing INT, he has just been fantastic all year. I also think Cooper and Curtis Samuel had very key contributions. Cooper went cold at the half but he had two very big plays in the first half on the first two TD drives. Samuel added in that complementary offense that the team needed. I also didn't realize that Knox had a nice game with 4 catches for 40 yards. But I do think the coaching also deserves a shout out. This team played error free special teams with a nice punt return early on. This team only let up 7 points in the second half and 21 points overall. The offense put up 30 points on an excellent defense. What a great game so happy for this team. -

Yeah that's why I said the RATE to which things are INCREASING is going down. There's never been a time in modern American history where prices have gone down. Not sure why people don't understand this. -

Seemed fair as KC instigated and the Bills took it over the top. -
As important as the KC game is with the bye week coming up getting as healthy as possible is key. If Kincaid/Coleman are banged up better to give them a week off which will effectively give them 3 weeks off to get healthy for the stretch run.

The rate to which prices are going up is down significantly in the past year or so. There's always usually at least a 1-2% rate of inflation since the beginning of the 20th century. -
November 17, 2024: Around the rest of the NFL
billsfan89 replied to Ridgewaycynic2013's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's a very "top heavy" slate of games this week with Bills vs. Chiefs being the headline main event and Ravens vs. Steelers being a high end matchup in the early window. There's not too much in the rest of the slate of games but you have 4 other at the very solid games on the slate. You got a pair of interesting division games in Bears vs. Packers and Seahawks vs. 49ers while also having a pair of solid games in Bengals vs. Chargers in the late game and Falcons vs. Broncos in the West Coast Window. I would give the slate of games this week a B+ esp if you factor in a good Thursday matchup. Two mega huge games and Four interesting games plus a good matchup on Thursday. -
Jon Gruden now employed by Barstool Sports
billsfan89 replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
Gruden is a turd of a person and coaching passed him by. But as a broadcaster and YouTuber he is entertaining. So I’m not surprised an alt media outlet took him on esp one like Barstool that’s not exactly concerned with image as much
