  1. That's a playcall you make when you are down 3-0, but at 9-0 with a good kicker take a shot to get a first down.
  2. Booger is right take a shot you are an underdog.
  3. The Bills need a TD on this drive. They need to keep the faith of the defense and take advantage of being deep in the Pats territory. A field goal isn't the worst thing but it would squander an opportunity.
  4. There are some libertarian guys like John Stossell, Penn Gillette, or Peter Schiff who are actual libertarians that are pretty consistent in how they absolutely hate getting the government involved in anything. As far as more traditional right wing pundits I haven't seen many that aren't partisans. As far as people on the left I think aren't partisan hacks I think YouTube commentator Kyle Kulinski is a pretty principled progressive (Agree or disagree with his policies I think he stays mostly consistent and policy oriented) there are some other more out there progressives like Jimmy Dore on Youtube that I think like libertarians stay pretty consistent and policy driven even if they aren't very smart on policy ideas. I think there aren't many mainstream people who aren't partisans because attaching your commentary to a political party is both easily digestible and plays into humans need for tribalism (our side good their side bad.) I also understand that you can pull up examples of anybody being hypocritical but its the effort to try and be consistent and avoid being the prisoner of the moment that makes a big difference in my mind.
  5. Jeff Tuel was pretty dam bad but that was mostly due to injury. This QB situation is a completely self inflicted wound.
  6. Hard to judge the play design when the blocking was pretty bad on that series. Overall though the creativity was there but it was mostly wasted motion as opposed to designed chaos that trick plays and oddball formations are supposed to create.
  7. He looks solid, when the hole has been there he has hit it hard. He also made a nice catch.
  8. That was a big catch by Shady, they need to keep the ball out of Brady's hands. Overall I like the creativity of the offense but they have to throw the ball to the QB is the are intent on not covering him out of the Wildcat. Still I hope they continue all these trick plays and wildcat formation.
  9. Shapiro is not new to people who know alternative media the past 5-10 years. But in the past 2-3 years he has gotten much more mainstream exposure both due to being on cable and radio outlets and also more and more people tuning into alternative media. So to a lot of people who are more casual political observers are getting introduced to Shapiro. Where I take issue with Shapiro is that he isn't principled and he is far from his mantra "Facts over Feelings." I cited the example that he constantly wants his religious feelings put over secular law. Shapiro also doesn't have consistency in how he applies his principles. For example during the Obama years he had no qualms about calling the Obama administration fascists and making other extreme comparisons to Obama and his administration. Then under Trump he chastises the left for calling Trump a Nazi and a Facist saying that such comparisons are heinous and not in good taste. Then he called the organizers of the women's march Nazi's for something they did to Taylor Swift of all people. There are many examples of Shapiro being a partisan, now while I hate partisan hacks I think they are mostly harmless if people know what they are getting into when they tune into them. But Shapiro being new to a wider audience can often appear to be someone who isn't a partisan, so I think I am harder on a guy like Shaprio because he is mostly a partisan hack mascaraing as a principled intellectual.
  10. Rookie QB's tend to struggle, there are some exceptions of course but the trend is for them to not be very good year 1.
  11. 2019 is make or break for McD. You have the cap space, you have a third draft class, and you got your QB. With a top 10 defense in place you have the resources to finally improve the other side of the ball. If 2019 is a failed season then honestly McBeane should be fired. I don't think they have to make the playoffs necessarily but there should be a winning season at the very least. You tried to tank 2 seasons to get the ground work laid for what you wanted to do in year 3, you better deliver in year 3.
  12. Did you miss the part where I stated that if there is a push for churches to marry same sex couples I would be the first to denounce it? But as of now I do not see any significant push from gay people pushing for the right to be wed at a church that does not want them. If you have further evidence that there are significant court cases of same sex couples trying to force churches to wed them I would be wiling to reconsider my stance. Right now preventative legal action is more so making sure that they don't need to comply with the Civil Rights Act which they don't. So I think the slippery slope argument in that context just isn't very legitimate. The difference between a church and a public business is very distinct and thus a church does not fall under the civil rights act. Churches do not offer wedding ceremonies to the general public, typically you have to be a member of the parish or a parishioner of the same diocese in order for the church to wed you. A church can discriminate based off of any grounds it likes. If a church does not want to wed an interracial or interfaith couple fine they don't offer that service to the public its their club (in a manner of speaking) they have the freedom to do what they like. However if you start a business that serves the public you have to comply with the civil rights act. Under the civil rights act sexual orientation is a protected class. The parameters of who/what falls into these classes is very well defined under civil right law/litigation. The reason people will bring up race when talking about cases of businesses denying services to gay people is because under the civil right act race/country of origin is given the same protected standing under the civil rights act. So if you are a photographer who offers their services to the general public you can't deny people that service just based off of their sexual orientation or race. Religious freedom does not get you out of the civil rights act as proven by previous court cases where racial segregation was argued under religious freedom and it was denied. The nuance that will be argued in front of the Supreme Court is that baking a cake for a same sex ceremony is participating in a ceremony that goes against ones religious values thus a business should not be required to comply with the civil rights act in that case. However if a custom service is offered to all of the general public then that service falls under the civil rights act and you can't deny someone that service simply because they are gay or white or black. I piss and moan because the guy is a fraud who claims to be principled but simply by his own words and actions is not. I don't piss and moan about a guy like Sean Hannity or a woman like Ann Coulter because they have been exposed as partisan hacks many years ago (And there are many partisan hacks on the left too.) I feel like at this point you know what you are getting with a guy like Sean Hannity. However there are a lot of people looking into Shaprio knowing little about him because he is fairly new and they don't know about his very inconsistent and partisan nature. My complaints aren't that he is a right winger. Its fine if you have different opinions than me. But when some fashions themselves in a way that isn't consistent with who they are I like to think calling them out for it is the right thing to do.
  13. I would like the signing. The Bills are desperate for some help at receiver and while Pryor wasn't lighting it up with the Jets he was decent until his injury. I am glad to see they are going after the best player on the market.
  14. If Sammy was here as a number one WR getting paid 16 million per year and putting up later career Lee Evans numbers people would be bitching about how we overpaid for injury prone talent. Glenn when they traded him hadn't played a fully healthy season in 3 years and had missed a lot of time the previous 2 seasons. If there Glenn was on this team and hurt people would say the front office was incompetent for not trading him. Now that's not to say that the front office hasn't made mistakes. Letting Robert Woods go looks like it was a mistake but then again who knows what if would have taken to keep him here vs. going to play for the Rams his home town team? But I think that chastising McBeane for getting value from injury prone players on fat contracts or due for fat contracts was exactly the types of moves the team should have done. Remember this team made the playoffs last year without Sammy and Woods and while Cordy was injured most of the season. In a proper rebuild you gut big contracts, get value for players who might not be a fit for the culture or scheme, you make a big play for a QB in the draft, and you turnover the roster. McBeane is doing exactly those things. Now wither or not this will pan out is mostly up to Josh Allen and what they do with the cap space they have cleared. But the people acting like if you put Glenn, Woods, Sammy, Tyrod, Darby, and Dareus on this roster we would be a super bowl contender are just deluding themselves. All those players can be contributors and the team would be a lot better with those players (Although who knows if we would have been able to add other players like Hyde but for sake of simplicity lets ignore that) but those players aren't taking the team to the Super Bowl.
  15. I wouldn't draft a QB early but throwing one of those mid-round picks at a QB wouldn't be something I would object to. The team needs a solid veteran QB to mentor Allen and be a capable back up and I think this team should draft a third string QB to get Peterman off the roster. McD better learn from his mistakes this season in handling the QB position. He better know to not have Peterman on the roster and that you need some depth at QB.
  16. John Brown had a 1,000 yard reviving season back in 2015 when Palmer had that MVP like season. In 2016 and 2017 he had 517 and 299 yard seasons. This year Brown is crushing it no doubt but I would rather pay Tate the more consistent veteran than Brown. Ideally I wouldn't mind grabbing both but even with the current level of cap space you do still have to make cuts somewhere. If they went with Brown as a WR 2 I wouldn't hate the move esp if he continues his strong play this year.
  17. McD has mishandled the QB situation so much this season nothing is out of the realm of possibility at this point.
  18. Chan's offense did the best it could masking the general deficiencies of the players and maximizing what the players could do well. The scheme was masterful in building the calls and play design around the talent. With the Jets in 2015 Chan had a good degree of success (However the Jets had a much higher level of talent in 2015 than the Bills did in 2011, Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker were a good WR 1 and WR 2 combo and their offensive line was nasty and Ivory was a solid running back) but in 2016 when the talent level regressed the offense was among the worst in the league. So its not like everytime Chan was able to take crap and make it serviceable even in 2010 with the Bills that offense was hot garbage.
  19. If I were the coach I would keep Allen out until the Dolphins or Jags games. There is no need to rush him back this season is shot most likely anyway and if you get Allen back after the bye week you still get to start Allen for an additional 5-6 games before the season ends. His long term health is much more important than rushing him back to win a game against the Jets.
  20. To be fair the O-line did have Eric Wood and Andy Levitre two very good interior players they also had Urbik who was pretty good for a hot minute. Stevie only faded because he got hurt the last year he was here even David Nelson was playing well until he got hurt. I think the O-line was a bit better although the skill positions were mostly comparable. The one major difference in the 2011 offense to now is the QB play. Fitz got off to a super hot start and even subpar Fitz is an upgrade over what the team has now (A super raw rookie and outright garbage.) That being said I am not sure how bad the scheme is vs. how bad the QB play and supporting talent it honestly. I would venture to say it is all bad.
  21. McD did find Proyer, Hyde, and Haush in year one, granted Whaley was still here but I have to assume that McD had a heavy hand in those acquisitions since he was installing a new system and had to get his players into the fold. This past off-season they had only 4 contracts of over 3 million AAV, those contracts were Star, Murphy, Vonta, and Ivory. Vonta clear bust no doubt that was a swing and a miss although they got some of that contract back which should help roll over that money to next season. As far as the other three they are all contributing solidly even if you could argue they are overpaid. I do worry in general about the teams ability to secure pro-level talent but Free agency is critical to a teams ability to supplement talent. You don't need to overhaul your roster in free agency to have free agency be successful. If you can find 4 starters and 3-4 role players in free agency you have greatly alleviated the needs you have to fill on the draft and significantly improved the talent level of the team.
  22. Unlike other regimes who could only seemingly draft good players in the 7th round, this regime in back to back drafts the team has found good starting caliber players in the 4th and 5th round (Johnson and Milano respectively) so while I agree barring the team getting a high pick for Shady the draft haul tends to be overstated but having some extra mid round picks is more helpful for a team that can find good players in those rounds. I fully expect rounds 1-3 to be offensive players but having some extra mid round picks will be useful in acquiring some depth defensively while still being able to address offensive depth as well.
  23. I think if they got offered a 3rd they would do it, let alone anything higher.
  24. John Brown in my opinion is a solid number 3 WR but more so a complementary piece to a WR unit, if he is your number 3 WR you are in a good spot. I wouldn't hesitate to sign him esp if Zay doesn't finish the season strong but Tate to me is a difference maker as a high end WR 2. Tate has been a model citizen and a pretty beloved teammate in Detroit, so I don't think there are any character issues there. As far as the interior OL players Saffold is a bit older and the Rams are up against the cap so it makes sense that he could hit the market. Paradis is interesting as the Broncos while not up against the cap aren't in a great cap position either. So 50/50 as to wither or not he will be franchise tagged or not. I would love to see the Bills go hard after Tate, Paradis, and Saffold as a base to rebuild the offense. After those 3 big time starting pieces are added you can then add complementary pieces like Brown but considering how devoid of talent the offense is and just how much development Allen needs the team needs to in my mind add at least 3-4 impact starters to the offense via free agency and then add at least 2 more via the draft. I am not sure if this is how McBeane will go about it (I do expect one major impact addition along the interior O-Line and 1-2 vet WR's added but 2 big time free agents like Paradis and Saffold is wishful thinking.) I hope that McBeane isn't going to use "Build Through the Draft" as an excuse for a lackluster free agency period. I am not saying that the team has to spend all 94-110 million (110 is the max the team can have if they cut Shady and several other contracts that aren't productive players) but they need to infuse the offense with a lot of talent, much more talent then spending one drafts worth of players on. You have to add multiple starters to the offense and you might need to fill a need on defense if the right talent falls at the right price.
  25. 35-14 Patriots. I think this will be a 14-7 game at the half with maybe a turnover helping the Bills keep it close. But in the second half the Bills will feel a Patriots onslaught.
