Does anyone have stats on special teams effect on win-loss outcome? If we had one of our top 5 special teams units, would that have added another win or two?
The defense was clearly better than in years past and the offense was about on par, but the special teams significantly dropped, where our record was about the same. I gotta think this held us back from taking a step up.
There was a game like 5 years ago against the Giants that was way colder than the game vs the Colts in 2010. The Giants game it poured freezing rain, then like 20 mph wind, then it snowed.
This draft is actually going to line up perfect for the Bills needs. There's top QB, WR, OL and OLBs that should be sitting there.
Possibly available at 9:
QB - Carr, Bortles
WR - Watkins
OLB - Mack, possibly Carr
OT - Lewan
Agree on Benjamin - that kid from FSU is a stud. I think he goes 1st round.
I'm leaning towards the Bills using this marketing strategy for 2014... They have already tee-d it up. We cut/traded _____ player because he wasn't a "team" guy. Gives us an excuse to shed some big contracts and not re-sign guys.
I think our fanbase will buy it for one year, but I will not be one of them.
All kidding aside, the CFL is really the perfect league for him. I've said this from day 1. He might be a dominant player up there based on his speed and strength - bigger field - emphasis on pass rush. His size won't be an issue.
I was there too - the backward punt, muffed returns - yuk but mostly just 3 and outs. But the game last night was 15 yard overthrows, nobody knew where to go, bad penalities, ugly turnovers. It was like watching both teams practice for the first time as a unit. Both were terrible no doubt.
Something that got overlooked - he was very influential in the opening pick-6. Collapsed the pocket and took down Tannehill - blocking the throwing lane and making him release early off balance. Robey made a great play but without Mario's pressure I'm not sure that was a pick-6.
Look - PFF said Colin Brown gave up 16 pressures in the first 3 games - all tight games. Assuming Levitre gives up 1/game like the rest of the line, there's a decent chance we win one or both of those. Levitre just through week 3 might have already given us 2 additional wins.
Bring back Moorman. He tried out for the Bears last week. Better yet, get Podlesh from the Bears, the local guy - they tried out like 8 punters to replace him last week. The question is whether we want to pay a punter $2m
It gives them something to talk about for 3 seconds out of the other 23 hours, 59 minutes and 57 seconds they will talk about ohio state buckeyes football
Pick this kid up - let him run the scout team and make him our #2 at the end of the year. This offense is built on a mobile QB, and Tuel isn't that. Tuel would be over his head if thrown into an NFL game right now. He looked good in some of the preseason but he's not ready. For Freeman it's not a bad landing spot - young and up-incoming team, unproven QB, offense built for his strength, opportunity to slide into a starting role upon injury or EJ failure.
Agree with the OP. We have 1 WR, no TE (Chandler hurt), 3rd string Guard, zero starting LBs, and 1 starting CB. We would need every draft pick to hit as a starter, on top of a stud QB just to field a wild card roster.
