  1. On defense you can make an arguement that every player except Stroud, Johnson, and Troup are smaller than NFL average and arguably too small to play the postion. Our CB's are decent size but none are over 6 ft. that I know of. Kyle Williams likely would be the smallest NY in the league. Last year they had Ellison and a converted safety playing LB. Magically the DE's from last year are all being moved to OLB. While bad luck and fluke plays are usually the cause of injuries(see Wood's broken leg) simply being too small to play has got to take it's toll on the body. And while it may not entirely explain the injury bug it could explain the late game collapses seen so often the last few years.
  2. The same experts had him rated the first or second best DE in the draft. Look at all the mocks. He and Orakpo were always 1 and 2 for DE to come off the board always in the first round. Same thing for Mike Williams. There is not a single expert that criticized that pick at the time. Some may have like McKinnie better but noone thought it was a bad pick. Will he be as bad a pick as Williams only time will tell...
  3. In the NFL you do not cut first round draft picks in the second year of their contract. Even forgetting he is playing an entirely new position, the bulk of the money spent on him was in his signing bonus. He will be here for at least two more years bust or not. Even without a salary cap there is no reason to cut him. You can't get the signing bonus money back and he still has a chance to develop.
  4. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5473744 I mostly can't stand Rex Ryan but learning that he basically told Dungy to go screw himself is a wonderful thing.
  5. Only one of these players will be on an NFL team in 3 weeks...
  6. Please look up the defintion of that word before using it again....
  7. It's because trainging camp is too soft and there are no two a day practices... Duh, don't you pay attention....
  8. Dude don't let facts get in the way of the fantasy land these people are living in....
  9. I can't believe I just wasted a minute of my life reading this post. "I know a guy who knows jack shat about nothing and he told me JK is going to buy the team and put all the miserable souls in Buffalo hearts at ease". I'm sure this person is quite knowledgabke on estate planning and the tax ramifications of the sale of a mutlimillion dollar asset. I'm sure this person has access to a 90 y/o man's inner thoughts. I truly hope it aint so, but this is it folks. This is the last year of the Bills in Buffalo. 2-14 is how they are going to go out. There will be a lockout next year. There won't even be scab teams. The new CBA is likely to be domintaed by teams like NE, Dallas, and Washington and will further squeeze out the small markets. Even if RW is alive they still may not be here in 2012.
  10. That's because he was rarely near his coverage area. The WR's were so open they couldn't tell who was supposed to be covering them....
  11. 80% of the posters on this board(is that the correct term) wanted him gone. Now all you hear are crickets.... The next myth to be busted is that any QB is better than Trent. Either Fitz or Brohm will be gone on Friday. Hopefully both if they can grab a veteran backup off the waiver wire.
  12. Stepping up in the pocket probably has little to do with a QB's running ability nor their toughness. I would guess it has everything to do with their ability to read a defense and deliver the ball on time. GB's line was as bad as the Bills last year and he completed a ton of balls to WR's little better than TO and Evans.
  13. Not necessarily. A LT can be moved to RT or a tackle can be moved to guard(Leonard Davis is the best example) and you can still get a quality player. Maybe they aren't the marquee LT the team needed but a quality starter on the OL is still a plus. A CB can be moved to Safety. WR/RB/CB's can be dangerous return men. The major exception is QB. They can't do anything else for your team, excpet of course walk on water in Tebow's case. And as a QB they get paid more than their draft slot would normally dictate. Lat year Sanchez was pick #5 and was paid $10 million more than pick number 6 an OT, $3 million more than pick no. 3, a DE, and only $1.75 million less than pick no. 2 an OT.
  14. Adjusting for your hyperbole, that is pretty close to what the Patriots do every year with the exception of drafting Mayo. But why do what they do??
  15. 1. Two a day practices make the team tougher 1a. Two a day practices will cut down on injuries 2. Schobel had trade value 3. Lynch has no value and will get limited playing time 4. ... 99. Fans should be GM's because we have all the answers
  16. Maybe Nix knows what he is doing. That being said Junior Seau retired many times only to come back and play for the Pats.. I still say it is 50/50 Schobel plays for a contender this season.
  17. They have had plenty of high picks. The only thing a high pick guarantees you is a massive signing bonus. There are at least three QB's (four if Luck comes out) that will be available next year. I am sure there will be 3-5 OT's as there are every year. Relax. Win some games. Try to stay healthy. Hope one or more of the young OT's blossoms.
  18. Again you get no arguement from me that he was not the right choice last year. After the incompetent move to trade Peters they should have drafted an O-line or a true LB to get rid of Ellison once and for all. That being said he has played one preseason game at OLB. I highly doubt they called DeMarcus Ware a bust after one preseason game at OLB.
  19. The median number of sacks last year for a team was 34. Let's say for argument sake you get 4 times as many QB pressures as you do sacks. That would make 34 + 136 = 170 significant pass rushing plays a season. The median number of pass attempts was 543. That means that on more than 2/3 of the pass plays the QB is likely not hurried, knocked down, or sacked. It also equates to just about ten times a game does a player on defense harass or sack the QB. What I am trying to say here is just because Maybin gets blocked by the LT on most plays does not yet make him a bust. Give the kid(arguably the youngest starting OLB in the NFL) a chance to play and grow into the position. He will get blocked. They all get blocked. Was he a poor choice last year to play DE? Yes there is no doubt of that now. He wasn't ready and probably never would have been able to play DE in the NFL. But there is no denying his speed. With experience lets hope he learns a counter move and proper angles to the QB. For now can we just give him more than one game at OLB???
  20. Troup wil be starting long before Clausen will be in the NFL. Williams is too small to play NT. Troup will be the NT in situations more likely to be a running play and Williams may be more of the penetrating NT for more obvious passing downs.
  21. In case you watched the games the last few years this is about the only think DJ should be given credit for. His players showed up to play even if they were too small to be in the NFL and the OC wasn't qualified to run a HS team.
  22. Yeah because it really has cut down on those injuries
  23. Again I ask why aren't the two a day practices in heat in pads preventing injuries???? Why ????
  24. Age old arguement just as in baseball. If Hutson played in todays game he would be an average TE. In his era he was the best WR of his time. I am not saying you can't make an arguement for Hutson based on how good he was in comparison to his peers, but he just doesn't have the skills/athleticism of todays WR's. You get no arguement from me on Graham being better than Unitas.
