  1. Jim Kelly said the same thing about Zac Thomas. What offense doesn't take note of where the MLB is? I am not saying he wasn't great and it is difficult to compare era to era but there is no way he was as athletic or fast as Singletary or Ray Lewis and they hit just as hard and were just as feared.
  2. Chuckle at Larry Allen? Maybe that is because he played a season or two too long but he is the best guard to ever play in the NFL. Greene may not have even been the best player on his defense.
  3. Officially on IR and out for the season. Schobel will be signed by mid week
  4. Win games and the media will stop bashing I suspect you don't mind the media making fun of Al Davis or William Clay Ford and there respective teams And yes we are in the class of Detroit and Oakland.
  5. As I have posted before the decision not to drafrt Clausen was made the moment they decided to switch to a 3-4 defense. Williams is not a true NT. They had to get a NT and by all reports Troup looks good so far in camp. Could they have gotten Clausen in the second round and Troup in the third perhaps. The DT projected to be a NT from North Carolina lasted until the fourth round I think. Still it seems to me they were reasonably happy with Trent and saw NT as a bigger need,
  6. Butkus and Greene are not deserving to be on this list. I'm not even sure he is the best Chicago Bear of all time with Sayers, Payton, and Singletary also in that discussion. Hell Ray Lewis is probably better. Larry Allen is the best offensive guard and possibly offensive lineman of all time. John Hannah and Walter Jones dominated there position far greater than Greene dominated his. Ronnie Lott should also be in the discussion of top 10.
  7. BY now it is quite obvious that Trent will be the starter week 1. With 3/5th's of the expected starting offensive line out for the first pre-season game is there any reason to take a chance on Trent getting injured? My hope is one long series of handoffs, maybe one deep post, and a few crossing patterns and then get him out of there. The projected starting offensive line isn't going to be good so one with 3 back-ups is likely to be downright awful.
  8. The Bills have been a very young team for a long long time. They have had bad players mostly too small to play in the NFL for a long time. Donahoe was mostly on the right track but got way too full of himself thinking he could outsmart the room with picks like McGahee and Parrish. If instead of McGahee we had landed a top OT and instead of Parrish they had a decent guard the O-line would be in much better shape. There are plenty of PR's in this league and on this team.
  9. Careful there are plenty of posteres here that want Levitre and his T Rex arms at LT....
  10. If it was good enough for Brad Butler then why criticize? Get the best 5 on the field. Not uncommon at all to move to guard. Take Leonard Davis. He was a relative bust at LT for the Cardinals and now one could argue he is the best guard in the NFL.
  11. I thought two a days were supposed to make the team tougher and less injury prone??? As a fourth round pick he was virtually assured a spot on the team and not the PS. Best case scenario may be the PUP list which would give him a chance to come back late in the season when they are out of the playoff picture. If Hardy doesn't make it now he is really a bust and Chan might have big things planned for Roscoe.
  12. rushing or all purpose???? Personally I would be ecstatic if Lynch and Jackson each had about 800 with Spiller getting around 400 on the ground and another 500 or so all purpose yards(KR/PR/receptions)
  13. Another example of poor decison making. The sky is falling because we don't have any big recievers. Does that stop Steve Smith from being a superstar? Speed and route running CAN be much more effective than size. Yes if they have both like TO and Plaxico Burress(that is what people were looking at around that time due to the SB and his season) then great. Plus big WR's are generally not returners(not that we need any more KR/PR's) and so if they can't get open and produce on offense then there is little else to be gained.
  14. Your post is certainly fair. DW has been given many chances to perform and regardless of the system if he is a star player he should have shown more on the field. That being said I think he will do better closer to the line of scrimmage in more of an attcking SS role as opposed to deep coverage. He has even played corner for the Bills at times. I think his man to man skills have been ok but for reasons I can't understand he does not do well in space. This can partially explain his low INT numbers. Byrd on the other hand seems to do well in space and takes decent angles to the WR and makes quick adjustments to tipped or overthrown balls. Does this have to do with intelligence and being able to figure out the play faster or being able to concentrate on the QB's eyes, the WR, and the ball. I don't know. But whatever it is DW can't do it in deep coverage.
  15. The Patriot drafts have been particulalry bad as of late with few if any later round picks making any impact. Had they not hit the lottery with Brady in the 6th round they would get a C+. They did well with Seymour and Wilfork. Mayo looks like he will be very good. All of these were first ounders. Much of their team in years past has been built by FA. In fact one could argue they have been the best team at FA analysis, acquisition, and salary management. The exception that proves the rule is Adalius Thomas.
  16. I can't recall a single time Tasker ever left a guy hurt on the turf. If you know of any that can support your claim would love to see it. I will just guess here but I have to believe there are more RB's hurt with defenders falling all over their legs or while trying to cut back than there are PR's hurt. Maybe it is a matter of frequncy as well - PR's might only actually return 2 or 3 kicks a game where as the RB might get 15-25 touches. Even if a PR get's his bell rung that is not as career threatening or have the potential to miss games as say a high ankle sprain or ACL. I say get him the ball as much as possible. Let McKelvin and McGee stay fresh for defense. Roscoe hopefully wil be getting more reps at WR so he won't be so eager to turn every PR into a highlight reel like last year. He and Spiller can split time on PR's.
  17. Very good post. I totally agree. He will be on the field in many different spots. I would suspect he may be in motion and do a fair amount of fake reverses as well. I would be quite happy if we ****-canned the FB position and went with a 3 or 4 wide set with Nelson and/or Spiller moving all over the place to create match-up problems. Alternate Evans and Roscoe in the slot position and they should be able to keep the defense off-guard. Whether that will make a difference with our O-line situation I don't know. But I think there will be more of a wide open offense than a true off tackle rushing offense.
  18. First Fitz is horrible and should be gone by the second preseason game. Second I would not be opposed to any other QB with experience being added at the expense of Brohm Third Brown is going to be the third QB. They will not expose him to the waiver wire having just drafted him, which is what would need to happen to place him on the PS.
  19. I don't think they differentiate SS from FS for ProBowl voting just like they don't differentiate between LT and RT. They should but I don't think they do.
  20. Trading for him also means taking on his contract and giving up somthing for him. There was no interest in him until he was a FA where you don't have to give up a draft pick and he can be signed for the veteran minimum or a little more.
  21. On what non-racist basis due you base this???? The players have never said one negative word about him. Fred Jackson his primary competition is his best friend on the team. Attitude would seem to be his best attribute. Making dumb decisions criminal or not is not a bad attitude.
  22. Agreed. He is going to be a beast. If the Offense can make it to the red zone often enough, I bet he gets 8 maybe 10 TD runs this year along with a TD reception or two. The only other red zone threat that I would like to see develp more is Nelson. It would be awesome if he develops into even a shadow of what Gates has been.
  23. Probably would work best to give them all a chance. Even Jackson was not that bad plus putting him back there gives a little extra size for a blocker.
  24. McKelvin has a chance to be a great corner and McGee isn't getting any younger. You don't make this team better by breaking up the best unit. Of course Spiller is going to get reps with the first team. I suspect even before he was drafted, now quite obvoious he was their target the entire time, they were creating plays exclusively for him likely with another RB on the field.
