  1. Hmmm Interesting I also seem to remember some posters putting a lot of stock into McCourty taking ownership of the broken up play and using that as proof that it was all on him. Watch the video Even Collinsworth completely blames Gilmore for this play. But let's put his criticism aside, watch the very end. Gilmore is able to clearly see that McCourty is running the opposite direction at near full speed, you can see it at the 31-32 second mark and at the 41-42 second mark you can see Gilmore looking at his Safety running the opposite direction and he's still essentially letting his man go. And there is plenty of more commentary out there that supports this train of thought. The point people is that there are reasonable positions on both sides of the argument for this particular play. I mentioned early on that this appears to be a play where Devin should have been there and that it wasn't Gilmore's initial responsibility. But as you can clearly see in the video and that has been mentioned by other outside observers that Gilmore was able to see that McCourty was totally out of the play. The argument you guys are making is: Well, this is Gilmore's zone and he is not supposed to go out of it no matter what. Even if he sees that McCourty is out of position, he simply is not allowed to go out of his zone because, well......It's not his "responsibility". Sorry. I do not accept that answer. It is possible for the fault to be mainly on McCourty for not being in position but also blame on the DB for letting his man go even though he sees that his backside help is running the opposite direction.
  2. PFF certainly aren't the be-all and end-all but they weren't impressed with Gillislee's performance I still think Gillislee is better than our backup RB's.
  3. I refer to my previous posts in this thread
  4. there isn't alot more than I can say that I already have but I vehemently disagree I hate agreeing with you but I wholeheartedly do in this case
  5. Been posting with tgreggy for years and even though we've had rigorous debates in PPP, (we quibble over what constitutes facts and opinions Ha!) He's a solid poster
  6. We are going to have to agree to disagree here but I've looked at the play over and over and if he had recognized the situation early on he could have trekked back sooner. Awareness
  7. Don't be silly, Gaines has shown that he can play at a good level and the initial indication is that it isnt outside of the realm of possibility that he plays at a quality level again. If he plays well which is a distinct possibility the trade ends up being for a quality scheme fit player and a 2nd rounder
  8. He really doesn't
  9. Gilmore could have recognized the situation and reacted a little quicker and trekked back a little sooner. Probably wouldn't have been soon enough but he reacted very slowly none the less
  10. You see, that's the rub, I really didnt.
  11. Ha! Just figured you knew some of this stuff picking it up from your brothers
  12. I knew it! Ok. Thanks for the response
  13. Tgregg. Just curious, do you have an older brother or siblings?
  14. I think he would have been a good fit as well. He looked great on that stretched out first called back TD. He made that look easier than it was.
  15. I really don't know what to expect from this game. I would guess something along the lines of 20-13. Bills
  16. Exactly, I made the case in the original post and I didn't want to have to repeat myself because that is all I would have done. And you and others are making the case you did and it makes sense, however my case is that if he had more awareness he would have made his upward trek sooner than when he did which could have put him in a better position.
  17. I would think so. Anyone who has been reading these articles on Beane and McD that go into their line of thinking shouldn't be surprised of the makeup of players that they are assembling. Dareus is the outlier, he is so supremely talented and they have such a huge contract that it's difficult to trade him at this point that the leash that is provided to Dareus is much longer than most other players. My hopes are that Dareus can get his **** together so that he could be a viable consistent disrupting force.
  18. I disagree. Even though Trump isn't popular with the so-called establishment republicans he still has solid support from rank and file Republicans. There is a winning formula of a coalition for him to be had and that coalition wouldn't be there for everything that he needs but in this case he would need the nationalists which Bannon is for this, Democrats, which they could be for this and then the rank and file Republicans which he wouldn't need all that many of them. The pressure would be so great for McConnell and Ryan to put it up for a vote that they'd have to.
  19. It's clear that he was talking about culture change and that he is buying into what McD is doing. He's a team leader and that's why he is invaluable for a new coach who is trying to set a precedent.
  20. Rather than just saying, I disagree for so and so reasons you had to be snarky, right? With the "You don't understand schemes or calls?" Don't act all surprised that I responded in kind, I have said on this thread that it was the safety's responsibility and not Gilmore's primary one. However, the case I'm making is one of awareness. He was at a near 90 degree angle and could see everything that was in front of him and there wasn't a player in site coming anywhere near his area. My argument is someone with more awareness would have realized there was nothing coming in his area and would have made his upward trek to follow his man in coverage. Would he have been able to make a play on the ball as perfectly thrown as it was? No, but he possibly could have made the tackle or it is possible that if the ball had been under thrown he could have made a play on the ball. I've played plenty of organized sports and I understand responsibility and I understand that what makes some players special is that sixth sense we call awareness. The case that I'm making is just that. Awareness is a trait that not everyone has and sometimes understanding the situation in front of you sometimes gives special players the flexibility to go outside of their called duties to make plays. You can disagree with that and that is fine, that is your opinion and we could simply part ways disagreeing, but that isn't what you decided to do. You disagreed with my comment and you immediately went to the vapid "you don't understand schemes".
  21. You may not know, but from my perspective it was a lack of awareness. Says the rube
  22. I made my point, the post speaks for itself.
  23. Gilmore's problem more than anything on that play was his lack of awareness. Reminds me of that huge hit he put on against Denver a couple years back, it was a third down and long and he absolutely demolished the WR. The hit was borderline, pretty much right as the WR was catching the ball and he got called for a personal foul, automatic first down. The guy was well short of the first down and even though he may have hit the WR right as he was receiving it, he could have easily let up just a little and made sure to make the tackle without risking drawing that penalty. Lack of awareness. Last night, even though it may not have been his "duty" to follow that WR, he was positioned in such a way to where he could see everything that was going on in front of him and there was no other KC player anywhere near his zip code and he should have had the awareness to cover the WR and he didn't. I'm sure there will be people who will say that it wasn't his responsibility and by leaving his zone he's hurting the team and I just say B.S to that. There was no player coming to his zone and the threat was the guy he just released coverage. Lack of awareness.
  24. Truly awful. But guys like him overcome. It's in their DNA. He's a winners winner.
