Bills Re-Sign Kyle Williams To One Year Deal
Magox replied to dgr81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Williams was OK throughout most of the season and definitely not as good as in the past. Having said that, the last few games of the year and playoff game he turned it on and played at a very high level. Which tells me that if you play him less and more rotationally that he still can play at a high level. I believe the Bills are going to draft a DT pretty high to be the eventual successor to KW and that will be the plan for 2018. Good signing, not just for his play on the field but his invaluable presence in the locker room. -
Bills Re-Sign Kyle Williams To One Year Deal

Trusting the Process!!!!! -
Could be.

I could see that and I'm most likely low balling it. I do have some reservations of his verifiable more obvious production but maybe on tape he is worth that. If he indeed is a constant force at the point of attack and he is able to help collapse the pocket then he'd be worth that. If he is just a run plugger than the value I guessed I think would be more in line.
-
What's everyone's guess to how much he will get? I'm guessing 5 year $38M with $20M guaranteed.
-
I'll pass the message along.

Two questions for the board: Anyone know the details of the contract? And does anyone know the ramifications to the compensatory drafts?
-
It's possible that both of you have a point, which is that you guys are both on the extremes. On one side they totally discount PFF and then on your side, it's the determinant. It's a metric not the be all end all.
-
Why yes, yes he does.
-
I have mixed feelings of this pick. On one hand he fills a big need and probably will be a good run plugger. On the other hand he doesn't get many tackles or sacks and he hasn't graded out well with PFF. Not to say that they are the be all and end all but it is a data point. I have heard arguments that he has played well despite his lack of stats but I can't lie, I'm a little concerned. But I do trust the process. I do trust their familiarity with him and if they are good with him than so will I. Here's to hoping that he ends up being a good run stuffer for us. Hopefully he doesn't break the bank either.

Could you if you knew that the OP was just messing around with everyone?

If you are the Bills you want Cleveland to draft a QB (Allen or Darnold) with their first pick. Because if that happens then the odds of the Giants staying put at #2 goes up a bunch because they most likely will draft Barkley meaning that the Bills could trade with the Colts to get their guy if they believe Rosen is the one. If Cleveland drafts Barkley with the first pick then the Giants most likely will end up trading out of their pick and the Bills will have to give up more to get Rosen, if he indeed is the one. If Mayfield is their guy, then you gotta believe that the Giants are no longer the trade partner and either the Colts or Browns would be their suitors. It's going to be interesting.

That would be slightly lower than I thought. I figured he'd be in the $20m-$22m a year range.

KC to Sign LB Anthony Hitchens to a Contract with $9M AAV
Magox replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would imagine that Preston Brown is going to be looking for a contract at $9m+ a year. I don't believe he is worth that, there is nothing really special about him other than just being consistently OK in most facets of the game. I'd let him walk for anything over $6m a year. I still wouldn't be that happy even at that rate and would hope that they address the position via the draft. -
No details on what the value of the contract will look like?

Per ESPN Bills very likely to persue Dolphins SUH
Magox replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's an excellent point and would be another reason on why he could make sense. It just depends on what sort of contract he is looking for. If it's over $10m a year, in my opinion I wouldn't think he would be worth that. He doesn't get enough pass pressure on a consistent basis to warrant that. But $10m or below, then I think that he is someone to seriously consider. -

Magox replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not a Suh expert. But Suh was still producing at a pretty high level, higher than Dareus over the past couple years. Plus, was Suh ever suspended in the NFL twice or for that matter once? And was Suh ever reprimanded for being habitually late to team meetings? He had a temper and played dirty but I don't think he had these sort of issues. I could be wrong but not to my knowledge anyway. -
I wasn't referring to you.

Brees/Saints to finalize 2 year deal today
Magox replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
About time. Should have made them nervous with other teams contacting Brees agent. -
A lot of the Sammy defenders are eating a lot of crow right about now. All year they whined about the trade and many of us told them that Sammy was going to be looking for this type of money and that there was no way in hell that the Bills could justify paying someone like Sammy that sort of money. Now look at what we get, we save ourselves from losing a player without getting much in return. We ended up with a 2nd round pick, a possible 3rd round compensatory draft choice and a one year rental on a player that played a significant role on helping this team finally break the playoff drought. Beane looking better by the day.
-
Yet more validation that Beane ended up making the right decision. All of LAST year I was making the argument that Sammy was going to be looking for $16m+ a year and that his lack of production along with injury concerns didn't warrant that. Beane was able to get a 2nd round pick and Gaines who most likely was a one year rental but a rental that played a significant role in helping the Bills make the playoffs for a player going into a contract year. Now there is a chance that we may also net a 3rd rounder because of the possible departure of Gaines. Just imagine how much Sammy would have received if he had lived up to his potential last year. Rather than paying purely on talent with lack luster production relative to his commensurate value of his contract. The Bills got a 2nd and possibly a 3rd and a one year rental of a player that helped the Bills break the playoff drought. The Rams got fleeced.
