Actually, Hauschka is the guy I'm worried about. Bad punting sucks but it is far better than bad kicking. A bad kicker will cost a team games. I would feel a lot better if he had a preseason game where he just made all his kicks.
Nobody's (Cosell or the fans) preconceived notions are going to be changed by one preseason game or probably even the entire preseason. They are going to see what they want to see to reinforce their pre-draft narratives. I suspect that by by the midway point of the regular season there will start to be a shift in one direction of another if Oliver's play calls for it.
Defense was great.
Barkley was good. Allen was meh. Jackson was bad.
Singleton was good and Yeldon has one foot on the curb.
OL was decent but really needs Morse.
I can’t believe that Ducasse is ahead of Teller.
McCoy's decline has been overstated, IMO. He had a bad season last year because the OL sucked a$$. That being said, if the OL doesn't get healthy and come together he's going to struggle this season too.
Reports that I’ve read have had Waddle really struggling. I doubt he’s the front runner for swing tackle. If they start Nsekhe then I don’t really see a good swing tackle on the roster.
I think there is a significant difference between punters and kickers and ST field players, who are generally players not good enough to play on offense or defense but found a niche on ST to make a career in the league.
I think people are overreacting. Let's get through this season and see what happens. They should probably draft a center prospect in the off season regardless of how Morse does. Yes, it's a concern, but with 7 new starters on the offense, I don't think anyone realistically thinks this is a Super Bowl winning season anyway so there is still time to build.
I wonder when someone is going to give an update on Morse. It seems like he's not ready for contact yet. If I'm not mistaken, he has been held out since full contact started.
