The Jests are averaging 4.8 ypc, #4 in the NFL. Miami is #8 at 4.5. Also, I wouldn't put Thomas Jones in either Ricky Williams or Ronny Brown's class.

If Cutler is no better than Losman, then the Bills need to hire Mike Shanahan asap because he got Cutler to the pro bowl so imagine what he could do with our current QBs. I think that what's happening in Chicago is the same as what's happening in Buffalo: it doesn't really matter who you bring in when you don't have a sound offensive coaching staff or philosophy.

You missed another key reason that Miami is effective with the Wildcat: they have two very good running backs and a very physical offensive line.

I wouldn't exactly call Oman "failed". He never got much of a chance and looked fine when he was in there. Frankly, not cutting a receiver is ridiculous. Besides the obvious lack of depth it creates at the RB position, how is Hardy ever going to get reps if there are 6 other guys eating them up.

Why not go for Peyton Manning or Drew Brees. They are even better...

Getting Vick would be a mistake. He is NOT a long term solution and the Bills have stop gap guys now. I suggest that they work on the OL and defensive front seven in the offseason and draft and then deal with QB. If they draft another QB and try to play him behind this line, he will quickly be destroyed.

Has it really come to this? It's been clear for several years now that the Bills organization has no long term plan and no commitment to building a solid organization around a winning vision, but now even the fans have descended to grasping at straws. Does anyone really believe that bringing in Michael Vick is going to do anything to help rebuild this destroyed franchise? It would just be another attempted quick fix... a gimmick (like TO) to try and keep interest up. This team can't afford another band aid attempt. It needs a plan and several years of good drafting, player development and judicious free agent signings... not Michael Vick.

You know it's fun to watch the "defensive genius" Bill Belichick continually out coached by the Miami offense. First the Wildcat, then the option, then the spread... The Patriots never look ready for Miami.

What gives anyone the impression that Cowher or Holmgren (or Shottenheimer or Gruden or anyone else) would be interested in the Bills job or that Wilson would be interested in them? Just because people on this board would prefer them, that doesn't really mean anything. The Bills are going to get whoever Wilson prefers, and his track record isn't great.

I think that the Bills are a couple of starters (LB, LDE) away from being a top 5 defense. Jauron has done a good coaching job there. On offense however, there's a long way to go. The Bills still need 3 or 4 solid starters to emerge, including at the most important position: QB. Plus the offensive coaching has stunk over the last 4 years. The Bills keep changing systems and coaches and never get anywhere.

Consider this: LF has been a starting linebacker since his rookie year in 1999. His teams have been in the top half of the league in defense 7 times out of 11 and in the top 5 in total defense 5 times out of 11 (and 6th once). So for such a liability in the running and passing games, he sure seems to consistently get things done.

I don't think that would go very far in solving the Bill's offensive problems...

People can make up whatever arguments they want and spin the stats anyway they want, but if you watch him play it's obvious that London Fletcher is a good football player. Anyone who doesn't see that doesn't know football. He's not Ray Lewis, but he's better than any of the linebackers on the Bills right now, including Poz.

You're right. Jauron has a definite philosophy on defense and it shows. Even though I don't agree with it, you can see it from the types of players they acquire and it's moderately effective. On offense, there's no recognizable philosophy. They chance every couple of years. He's not an offensive coordinator so he should've gotten someone with a track record of success and let them run things cart blanche. It didn't happen.
