I came away with three thoughts after reading the article: 1. We were mislead as to how close Troup was to coming back last year. 2. His goal is to weigh between 315 and 320? It's not who has the best team, it's the team that plays best on Sunday. The 49ers didn't even play a full half of their best football let alone a whole game. They have no one to blame but themselves.

This sounds like the defense that the Bills should play- M Williams, Carrington, Dareus, K Williams and Anderson/Kelsay as the 5 DL. Could always drop Williams or Anderson/Kelsay into coverage as occasional surprise moves to turn it into a 4-3 or 3-4 look.

Draft a MLB and play a 4-3 defense similar to the Giants or the Rams. That would be the best fit for the current personnel going forward, IMO. Or they could blow it up and start over again, which sounds more like the Bills.

This argument does hold some weight with me but I think the reaction to ban all PEDs across the board is over the top. And if this is the basis of the rule then why allow injections of pain killers to get hurt players back on the field? It's certainly not good for them long term to be aggravating injuries and turning them into potentially chronic conditions after they retire. And there's a lot of pressure to take them too and "not let your team down".

If these "smart drugs" have acceptable side effects then what would be the problem with people taking them? Since everyone can't do it that means that no one can?

Disregarding the obvious math error for a second, if the Bills had to put 6 LBs on the field at one time who would they be??? They don't even have 1 legitimate starting NFL LB let alone 6. How about Pettine follow the age old coaching rule of building your schemes around your players and focus on ways to take advantage of the few good players you have. On the Bills that would be the DL. They'd be better off running a 5-1-5 Nickel than a 1-5-5.

Except that he said he believed that by following the book his performance would have probably improved. However that didn't really matter to him. I guess he fits right in with a team that never has a winning record or makes the playoffs.

I think that many people assume that it's basically a level playing field with most everyone taking drugs who wants to and that "performance enhancing drugs" have been around since stimulants and pain killers were used in the 60s or even earlier. The only people who really follow the rules against PEDs are the honest people and that allows the dishonest people to dominate. And comparing records across eras is impossible for many reasons besides the improvements in PEDs, including the improvements in other training techniques, strategies, overall health, funding, etc.

I'm not sure anyone who watched the Bills defense play this season would want Wilson playing over Whitner. Wilson was terrible. He never made a big play that I can remember. He couldn't cover TEs or running backs over the middle. He was basically a massively undersized linebacker making tackles downfield. Forget what the stats say. Rob Johnson. Has he figured out which way the offense is supposed to go yet? All I remember when he was at QB was one sack after another. If all it took to play QB in the NFL was the ability to throw a ball through a tire then Rob Johnson would be in the HOF. Unfortunately, it takes a lot more than that.

As a DC Jauron is average. His team's defenses have mostly been in the middle of the NFL pack. However, one redeeming quality that STL might have been looking at is that his defenses were generally above average against the pass, including top 10 pass defenses in his last year in Buffalo and one of his two years in Cleveland. This is a passing league and becoming more so every year.

As long as they don't play him at LB like Edwards did then it's up to him. He's as qualified to be a 3-4 DE as a 4-3 DT.

He is a shadow of his former self. Frankly, given that he's a HOF type player, I'm stunned and how bad he has looked over the past couple of seasons. He really needs to retire.

So "indefinite" means 1 year? Why didn't the NFL just say so when they handed out the punishment in the first place? Were they concerned that a 1 year suspension wouldn't sound severe enough so they called it "indefinite" and then lifted it in one year? I think that the NFL was more concerned with appearing tough than being tough on this. Player suspensions- reduced/overturned. Where any games even missed? Peyton punishment- 1 year, then signs massive contract extension to make up for any lost revenue. Williams punishment- "indefinite suspension", terminated at 1 year and then immediately signs with another team. Really cracked down hard on this.
