McShay - Bills pass on WR and take RB Swift in 1st.

I assume you mean judging draft needs...and my opinion is that you should not be drafting for need in round 1 anyway. Draft to stock the roster with superstar talent at critical positions. -

Too early, but this team needs a RB1a badly -
Greg Olsen visiting Bills, Redskins, Seahawks

Do folks realize that Olsen had 58 receptions last year? Our TE group combined for 46 ? -

This would be all about helping to develop Knox (and Sweeney to a lesser extent). I wonder if they’d keep Smith for blocking; I think Kroft is a goner either way. Curious if they’ll IR Croom again for obvious reasons... -
Free Agency - March 18 - Who do you want?
thebandit27 replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fant is my guy. I think there’s a chance he becomes a legitimate starting tackle and ends up a huge value. -
There’s no reason to think that Sammy hadn’t worked harder after they picked up his option. I mean, he did play 15 games and lead the Rams with 9 TDs in 2017. I guess my point is that unless they truly felt that he was detrimental to their team culture, then there was zero reason to rush to jettison him. And if it was about effort and attitude, then trading for KB was brutally hypocritical in that regard.
-
Until he got hurt and the team mismanaged it, he had nearly identical numbers through 2 seasons to Julio Jones. He was doing just fine at that point. Beane did not have to deal Sammy because of the cap. He chose to when he could’ve kept him with no issue. He then traded for a less-productive (and now out of the league) WR who cost the same amount of money. Why? Call Sammy what you like, but I’d 100x rather have him for 17-18 than Kelvin Benjamin.
-
Sorry, but they created that situation themselves. They could have kept him for 2017, picked up his option for 2018 (same $$ as Benjamin), and transition tagged him for 2019 without any long-term commitment whatsoever. When Sammy’s QB needed him to make a play in the playoffs, he did it...repeatedly. When John Brown’s QB needed him, he couldn’t manage to drag a foot. I’m not stumping for Sammy, but let’s be practical about our comparisons.

Robert Saleh vs. Sean McDermott...Who you got?
thebandit27 replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McDermott is a tough guy, but there’s not an NFL coach anywhere that I’d bet on against Saleh. That dude is a monster. -
They get nearly $20M for Dareus alone. Yes, I’ve been a big trade-for-Campbell guy for a while now. Point is that Atlanta really has nobody to cut and get to at least a manageable situation. Jax can get close with one move. Minnesota will likely refuse Griffen’s option and get close. Assuming they end up dealing Campbell and cutting Dareus and Linder, they’ll have $40M+. Not thrilling, but like I said: manageable.

Booze and fire. What else is there to say? Marino and Kelly were very close for their whole careers. -
I’m sure they can find a LB or two in FA. The type they need isn’t hard to come by. I also hope that they re-sign Stanford. He looked decent in place of Edmunds at times, and that would keep 3 non-starters that know the defensive scheme in the fold in Stanford/Thompson/Joseph. Add a solid FA like my boy Elandon Roberts and we’re good to go.
