  1. Yes, they’ll be cutting him because his cap number doesn’t justify his production. No question. The false equivalency is assuming that the team is disappointed that they spent $16M per year on the guy that lead their team in receiving yards this postseason and was a key contributor to their first Super Bowl win in 50 years simply because his entire body of work hasn’t justified the money they spent.
  2. I can 100% assure you that the Chiefs do not regret paying a guy that had 6 receptions in their first Super Bowl win in 50 years.
  3. Most? There are 2 guys in NFL history that have gotten $15M AAV. $15.5M per would be a record; $16M would be a MONSTER.
  4. I see the info you’re referencing. I don’t think that they can trade him prior to the start of the new league year (3/18/20), and his base salary becomes guaranteed on 3/15/20, so I’m not sure that the info is accurate.
  5. His contract is prohibitive for LAR to trade. If they move him they’ll take a $25M dead money hit. If they keep him he costs $17M.
  6. Do we though? 8 of the top 9 RBs in rushing were 1st or 2nd round picks. Now I agree that it’s a diminishing returns situation at RB. I just think that the idea that any-old-guy at RB will work is misguided.
  7. I did. Guys say stuff all the time. Until he actually takes a year off I’m not putting much more into it than he’s tired from a long, grueling process.
  8. I have no idea why my response is weird, so I’m unable to help with that.
  9. I would imagine that most guys need a break after 19 games and a solid 6+ months of day-to-day football.
  10. SF put a lot of irons into the RB fire. They signed Mostert as a street FA, but they also gave solid FA money to both McKinnon and Coleman. That’s aside from bringing in Breida and JWJ as UDFAs. They cast a wide net for sure.
  11. Well, he did have 11 more receptions last season than Buffalo’s entire TE room.
  12. Why on earth would Hurney trade away a WR1 (that he himself drafted) on a cheap contract when he’s got a young, offensive-minded HC? That kind of makes no sense.
  13. Except that the leading rusher from last year’s Super Bowl was a 1st round pick. And the team they beat had a RB that was a first round pick. I’m not saying that teams should be in a hurry to spend a 1st on a RB, but slamming the door on it altogether is misguided. If you’re a team that’s on the brink of a Super Bowl run, and you believe that a particular RB can out you over the top (as clearly the Pats****** did with Sony), then yeah, take him. Are you sure that running isn’t as big? The Ravens just ran for 3,300 yards in a season! The 9ers dominated the NFC with a run game that let the QB get away with throwing 8 passes in the NFCCG! Last year, the Pats****** let go of their pass-blocking LT and 2 of their top 3 WRs and signed 2 FA RBs, drafted a run-blocking LT and a RB in round 1, and traded for another run-blocking OT and won a Super Bowl by running right at people. The run game is alive and well my friend!
  14. Teams do not worry about Singletary...he faced the fewest 8+ man boxes in the entire NFL (that’s probably part of the reason that his YPC was so high). Brown doesn’t draw a double. There’s not a single time that I can recall where he’s faced one (nor can I find a reliable stat source to cite for that unfortunately). Personally, I want a game-breaker at RB. A guy that is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. I hear you. I wouldn’t chase a RB in round 1; actually I wouldn’t chase any position per se. The only thing I’ll say about player archetype is that I’ll always lean toward a guy that’s too darn fast to cover—in this case I’m thinking of Ruggs. Hamler is a guy that I think may fit that mold as well, but I’d like to see what his drills have to say about his relative SAQ.
  15. No doubt. Gotta get the right ones.
  16. LG for 7 games between FR/SO years. RT as a JR.
  17. That should’ve said freshman and sophomore year. I think just LG and RT at OU.
  18. I don’t consider the folks that didn’t want him pre-draft as being never-Allen. I’m talking about those people who declared him a bust pre-draft, continued calling him a bust as a rookie, refuse to acknowledge anything he does well, and will never do so. Like I said, we can all name two or three.
  19. The majority of people, yes. There are, undoubtedly, a faction of fans that clearly would prefer that he fail so that they can be “right”. I’m sure we can all name two or three from this board. Well, since I was on record (many times over) as wanting any of the 5, yes, I’m well aware of people’s pre-draft opinions (most of which were based upon absolutely zero analysis beyond what they read). I was among Allen’s biggest backers. Not because I felt he was a sure thing, but because he had a real shot to be the best QB in the class.
  20. It will only end if Allen utterly flames out. I promise that, if he has a great season, the never-Allen brigade will not falter even for a moment.
  21. Right. We need dudes that opposing DCs worry about. Right now, we’ve got one: the QB. That’s it.
  22. Very good. That just seemed way out there.
  23. Nobody is forgetting Wade. There is, however, zero reason to count on him making the 53-man roster.
  24. Please tell me that you’re not insinuating that Sammy Watkins—who put up the best half-season of WR play this century on a foot with a Jones’ Fracture—doesn’t play hard.
