Gah, that would suck...but at least it'd be at a position of depth...for now.

One thing that I'll way about McDermott is that I don't believe he's at all married to one approach. My feeling on going into a shell is that he does it when he believes that it's the best (or, in the case of the 2017 team, only) way to win a game. If he believes that the team needs to keep scoring or moving the ball, he'll do that too.

Did you read the thread that @Jauronimo linked to though? It's pretty clear...

In some ways, yes. I don't know that the Giants have the same pass-catching talent as the Jets, and Eli is a statue in comparison to Darnold. But the Giants have a better RB, TE, and OL, so there are some mitigating factors.

Still not ready to make a call on this one. The Giants may be limited in star talent, but Eli can still have his days, and Barkley is sensational. They also have a big, tough, talented front 4. This will be a challenge for Buffalo.

My 9/11 story: I was working on an article for the college publication, in a library at the school, 10 feet away from the television. When the first plane hit the tower, people began to watch. When the 2nd plane hit the 2nd tower, a crowd gathered. I stopped writing, watched, and took it all in. Fast forward to 7 years later, and my future wife and I are dating. On the 7th anniversary of 9/11, we have the "where were you?" conversation...turns out, she was in the very same library, looking at the very same television, no more than 10 feet away from me... ...and yet we did not meet for another 6 years, when she just so happened to get hired by the same company for which I was working.

Bills (1-0) at Jets (0-1) Postgame thread

Daboll needs to have a card in his deck to adjust to inside zone when he sees that front. I know that the Bills' bigger-than-most OL isn't suited to run a lot of zone action, but man, with the DEs both playing 4i and a true nose up front, you've got a built-in combo block on the nose with your RT and TE free to fit up to the 2nd level; plus Spain would be free to lock onto Mosley after his initial hit on the nose. I'm sure it's something that they'll catch in film review. -
I think that there are 4 RBs that are clear and away better than the rest of the league: Kamara, McCaffrey, Zeke, and Gurley... ...and Saquon Barkley is, IMO, clear and away better than all 4 of those guys.

Happy birthday, and thanks for the board. -
Josh Allen's Adjusted stats for week 1
thebandit27 replied to wiley16350's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mosley's best play, IMO, was blindly batting down a surefire TD pass to Brown, which lead to the near INT on the Bills' first scoring drive. Of course, that's the play he was injured on, but if he doesn't bat down that pass, Brown snags a TD reception and the game gets even closer than it did. -
Edmunds, Oliver & Morse are a great foundation

I think that the next phase in the OL "rotation" is Ford rotating in at RG with Mongo, with Ty staying at RT. Just a guess though. -

Agreed. Seems to me that they know he's not the better player, but they also know that they want him to be their future RT, so they're trying to get him as much work as possible at the position. Me? I'd rather play the best combination of 5. Based on what I saw on Sunday, I'm not convinced he's a better option at RG than Mongo either. -

Mark my words: later in the season, they're going to split DiMarco out wide like that again, and Josh is going to pump fake the quick throw. When he does, the corner and safety will jump, and the slot guy will stroll into the end zone for an easy TD. -
He's probably going to get his yards; the key is to limit his big plays. Actually, when I think about the game, if you can force the Giants to beat you by running Saquon 30+ times, then you probably only have to score 17-20 points to win.

Week 1: The good, the bad, and the missing
thebandit27 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure, it could have been better. IMO, if you're an NFL receiver, and you have an unimpeded sight line to the ball, which then hits you in both hands directly from the QBs release, with zero contact, you absolutely have to make the catch. -

I don't think anyone said that Beasley had a real bad day (or at least I didn't see it). He did, however, have 2 drops that hurt the team. If you don't want the ball to hit Beasley in the hands on that throw, where do you want it to hit him that wouldn't be Allen's fault? I mean, sheesh: -

It hit Beasley in the hands. I know Allen throws the ball hard, but this is the NFL. If you can't catch a ball that hits you in the hands, that's a real problem. -
I don't buy that they'll be any more motivated this week than they are any other week. Like I said in the lead up to Week 1: every game matters.

Seems to be what a lot of folks are noticing on a re-watch (myself included)
