I missed that one They did go after Wallace a few times, and before Taron Johnson went out they seemed to pick on him routinely.
-
Always is...one thing about Tre: you might beat him to the ball (hey, that happens, corners get beat), but he's not going to let you get YAC on him.
-
I never buy that type of stuff. This is the NFL. If they weren't motivated to play against a divisional opponent that beat them 4 consecutive times leading up to the game, what are they doing in the NFL? Now, I do agree that it should be another close game, but the bold statement just doesn't make much sense to me.

He was covering Bellamy on Bellamy's one catch, but aside from that I don't remember him being targeted in coverage.

Did Josh throw after he saw the flag?
thebandit27 replied to Batman1876's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hard to tell, but that was my guess, because Josh seemed to be pointing at the Jets' side of the field before the play even finished. -
For sure man...at this point, for the younger guys, any semblance of normalcy or routine is going to help.

Week 1: The good, the bad, and the missing
thebandit27 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Completely agree. Probably Shaq's best game as a pro. -
Yeah, the bonus on walking Poyer down low is that he fits well against the run (though we're probably sacrificing a bit of his ability to key quickly by walking him down). The other side of the coin is that using Neal in that role (even if it's half the time or less) allows you to disguise the look a bit better. Since Neal plays the slot on a regular basis, you're not telegraphing that he's actually functioning as a big-nickel box safety instead of a slot corner. In reality, McDermott & Co. are probably way ahead of me and will do both plus some other approaches to limit how badly he can hurt you out of the backfield.

Be interesting to see how they coach the run game next week. The power combo approach was working really well when they ran it, but the Giants did an admirable job of stuffing Dallas' run game when asked to yesterday. I would anticipate a similar approach next week: quick-hitters to get the QB comfortable early and get the front-7 tired; come back in the 2nd half with pin/pull combo calls that move the big dudes up front and create space for a one-cutter like Devin to gash 'em.

This is a great game to play a lot of man coverage. The only exception to that rule will be how they handle Saquon...probably need to bracket him with a LB and a DB walked down into the box (Poyer or Neal). If you're playing nickel, and you're using Poyer/Neal to bracket Barkley, that means you're manned up everywhere else with a free blitzer on every play; you should be able to force Eli into turnovers a few times. Now, that'll all change dramatically if Jones enters the game. In that case, I'm going to go heavy on Cover-3 and mix up my pressures to keep him guessing. If Jones can function in a timing approach then he can flourish; if you force him to hold the ball, he'll make mistakes.

Edmunds, Oliver & Morse are a great foundation

Me too. I said back when he was drafted that I felt he could definitely play guard, but hoped he could play tackle. Start him at RG for now; rotate him with Mongo (who doesn't deserve to lose the RG spot) on a per-series basis if you want to, but don't leave him out there at RT where he got beat up yesterday. -

Jets' fans need to chill. They've got a good young QB who will be good for a long time. -

The ball hit him in the hands with nobody between him and the ball. His body was shielding the ball from any defender, and nobody else had a chance at the ball. If you can find a way to blame Allen, then that's a special kind of analysis that I can't defend. -

Right now, Ford needs to be playing RG. He's clearly behind Nsekhe at RT -

Just popping in to say that I agree, and that it's good to see a post from you. -

No; first time. Christian McCaffrey is phenomenal. I was talking about this yesterday, and there are 4 running back that are head-and-shoulders above the rest of the NFL when they're healthy: Zeke, Gurley, Kamara, and McCaffrey. And then there's Saquon Barkley, who's somehow better than all of them. -

Which QB had a higher completion percentage yesterday: Tom Brady or Josh Allen? -

Truth. I thought I read somewhere that batted passes are up across the league in the last 2-3 years as offenses have gone to quick passing games. Defenders are getting better at getting their hands up and focusing more on flooding passing lanes when it's clear that they can't get home in <2.5 seconds. -

Good grief. I sometimes wonder if people watched the Bills' game, let alone other games around the league. I fault Allen on 3 of the 4 turnovers, but to say he looked anything even remotely close to Peterman is the height of foolishness. Seriously. When I see anyone claim that the pick-6 is on Josh, I know immediately that they're operating with an agenda. That's just stupid. He threw the ball low and inside where it's supposed to be, and Beasley let the ball bounce off of his arms for a turnover just as he did in Detroit in the preseason. That's on Beasley, and it's obvious. The team moved the ball well in the first half...if they didn't have issues with hanging onto the football (both Allen and the pass-catchers), things could've been much different. But that's not the point. The point is that, despite having a nightmarish first half, despite giving up a safety on their only touch through 10 minutes of 3rd quarter play, despite not having attempted a pass until over 11 minutes through the 3rd quarter, and despite being down 16-0 on the road to a divisional opponent, the kid pulled it together, scored 17 unanswered points, and won a game that more than a few fans on this board (not me) called a "must win" earlier in the week. Just contrast the 4th quarters of the top 3 QBs picked in 2018. How did Allen compare to Mayfield and Darnold when the game was on the line?- 586 replies

The only turnover that I don't put on Allen is the pick-6. That's on Beasley all day, though the bounce was just bad luck. -
Josh Allen development in year 2
thebandit27 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He'll clean up some of the mistakes, but you aren't going to coach the cowboy out of him...and you don't want to. My only concern with Allen yesterday is the ball security on the fumbles. Aside from that, he looked like a good young QB that can handle his business even when things go as wrongly as possible. -
