Deflate-gate investigation complete

too busy to meet the president too busy to read a document that claims to incriminate him, his team, and tarnish his legacy Not too busy to go wine and dine at a horse race all day Saturday -

I would think they would want to drop it down today and allow the weekend to simmer things down a bit. Early in the week just gives a ton of over the top fuel and drama to talking heads and water coolers -

Yeah. I was surprised the NFL didn't intentionally entrap a top team and top player and taint its multi-billion dollar event on the heels of a nightmare PR season sooner. -

i dont get why the NFL would want to bring Brady and the Pats down. In fact I would think it is the last thing they wanted. If nothing else, the Oilers winning the lottery and this investigation has restored my waning faith in these sports leagues. -

I don't think he did win. He squandered any favorable public opinion he had. People rabidly defended him at the start, still continued to defended him when things werent looking good... then at the point he was trying to entrap McNemee or whatever his name was on the phone, even the most avid Yankees/Clemens fan was done with the guy. Fight and deny is a bad combo. Get caught, come clean, ask for forgiveness works better. look at Pettite and Giambi and the way they were able to get past the roids. -

this reminds me of the Roger Clemens thing. Everyone knew he was full of it and kept fighting and fighting and kept tarnishing his career. Brady and the Pats have handled this poorly from day 1 and continue to. -

Tom Brady bribed team employees to cheat for him. This guy is supposedly the best of all time in many eyes. Let that sink in. Unbelievable -

Overall I think people are pretty sick of the Patriots. They are like the Atlanta Braves in baseball circa like 1991-2010. -

If I were the NFL? I would suspend Brady for a half a season. Possibly more. Those lockerroom attendants and their immediate supervisors would be banned from ever working in the league again. Take a 1st rounder + away and fine the organization $1 Million in light of repeat offender. I would allow them to get away with only this, if the league is permitted to install independent auditors who will have full access to team activities to ensure they aren't cheating. -

I dont know. a few things make me slow to dismiss this The NFL likes to handle things in-house. New England took things out of house with their deniability tour and Kraft went as far to demand an apology from the NFL Spygate. You have to think the NFL gave the Pats an off the record warning along with sweeping that under the rug. Repeat offenders. -

who knows how much crap they are pulling. This, along with the spygate stuff brings the whole thing in question, no? The validity of their wins will always be questioned. Baltimore was a game of inches. Probably should have lost if it was on the up and up -

again, it circles back to what the heck else is going on there. A league with mechanisms for parity has a team like this. 41 straight AFC home wins or something like that. Seem to "guess" correctly at a 90% clip with a few simple offensive plays... A QB who looked like a contest winner at the combine. -

think about Kraft's demands that the NFL apologize to them.... as well as Brady's goofy embarrassing PC. NFL cant be too pleased -

Statement from Robert Kraft: “When I addressed the media at the Super Bowl on January 26 – over 14 weeks ago – I stated that I unconditionally believed that the New England Patriots had done nothing inappropriate in this process or in violation of the NFL rules and that I was disappointed in the way the league handled the initial investigation. That sentiment has not changed. “I was convinced that Ted Wells’ investigation would find the same factual evidence supported by both scientific formula and independent research as we did and would ultimately exonerate the Patriots. Based on the explanations I have heard and the studies that have been done, I don’t know how the science of atmospheric conditions can be refuted or how conclusions to the contrary can be drawn without some definitive evidence. “What is not highlighted in the text of the report is that three of the Colts’ four footballs measured by at least one official were under the required psi level. As far as we are aware, there is no comparable data available from any other game because, in the history of the NFL, psi levels of footballs have never been measured at halftime, in any climate. If they had been, based on what we now know, it is safe to assume that every cold-weather game was played with under inflated footballs. As compelling a case as the Wells Report may try to make, I am going to rely on the factual evidence of numerous scientists and engineers rather than inferences from circumstantial evidence. “Throughout the process of this nearly four-month investigation, we have cooperated and patiently awaited its outcome. To say we are disappointed in its findings, which do not include any incontrovertible or hard evidence of deliberate deflation of footballs at the AFC Championship game, would be a gross understatement. In addition, given our level of cooperation throughout the process, I was offended by the comments made in the Wells Report in reference to not making an individual available for a follow-up interview. What the report fails to mention is that he had already been interviewed four times and we felt the fifth request for access was excessive for a part-time game day employee who has a full-time job with another employer. “While I respect the independent process of the investigation, the time, effort and resources expended to reach this conclusion are incomprehensible to me. Knowing that there is no real recourse available, fighting the league and extending this debate would prove to be futile. We understand and greatly respect the responsibility of being one of 32 in this league and, on that basis, we will accept the findings of the report and take the appropriate actions based on those findings as well as any discipline levied by the league.” -

This is why I suggest getting them now. The line of perceived perpetual will not easily be crossed the other way. Once we are past it, and the Bills have 1 or 2 decent competitive seasons and the resell market far exceeds face value.... people will keep them even during a few bad years. Nobody wants to lose their license to be in the building.
