Not necessarily in a gm role for sure. I think he would be a good choice to be a teacher to the pegulas. Can probably give them a lot of insight on effective and non-effective things owners do. Can build the framework of the football program and aid with finding the gm

Owners met with players WITHOUT Rex before Roman let go
May Day 10 replied to GottaRun's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its bs spin by the team. Every mouthpiece of the team (murphy, jones, brown, sal) beat us over the head with the "offense is fine, its just a matter of whether or not the defense can improve"... and furthermore the team went all in for defense in the draft. Now the spin has shifted to "roman didnt like it here and has been the problem for 18 games". This franchise has been doing this for too long. Way too easy to see through them -

So they knew last season, but instead of making the move they "knew" was right, they decided on ruining another season. And lets not forget we went from a top 5 defense to.... this in 18 games -
Doug Whaley- Failure to Field a Competitive Roster
May Day 10 replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whaley seems very good at identifying defensive prospects. I would give him an A or a B in that realm. There are a lot of Ds and Fs such as identifying offensive talent, team makeup, coaching staff/scheme matching his personnel, cap allocation/management, and ultimately team performance. -
Seemed like a very tame tailgate and crowd. Was shocking for both a home opener and a night game. Seemed like everyone was pretty beaten down by the prospects of this year not being any different

Cb were bad. They were left on an island though with the defense stacking the box like buddy ryan and not getting pressure or stopping the run. With current defending passes rules, they would need to be magicians to look good. When "help" was provided, it came from duke willams or corey graham and they are turrible

To be any good TT has to make plays with his legs

Its not a sustainable model. Injuries will happen. The rest of the nfl figured it out in 2012 -

More garbage leaks and information (or misinformation) coming from this "organization" (to use that term liberally) It was bad before... but the day wilson stepped aside and handed the reins to brandon (jan 1, 2013), this thing has been a dysfunctional mess. -
Every major sports city has a sullivan. Brings a cynical point of view and riles people up. I think sullivan is a talented writer for the most part and usually makes good points. The problem i have is when the rest of tbn writers get over the top and adversarial. It was getting bad there for awhile with harrington, sullivan, gleason, even graham joining in. Ultimately, i strongly believe all these guys want to see the bills do well. Im sure they are sick of the current "mode" of the team and covering a dull 5-8 win team year after year after year.... if the bills (and sabres) are good, this region goes insane and consumes every single thing. They would get much more "clicks" as well as national attention. They also have many many good friends and relatives who are fans and im sure they do wish for better things

I agree. Hansen was great

Wow...Rex was pressured by management to appease fans...
May Day 10 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This wouldnt be surprising to me. The same type of thing happened with the sabres twice. Ruff was fired early in the season after a full offseason and a lockout. The fans the night before was exceptionally brutal. The fans were right though. The thing was stale and change was needed. Ruff was the sacrifice so darcy could continue and darcy even hired a clone of himself as head coach for awhile. The same thing happened early the following season. The crowd got to the point of national embarrassment and was picking up national press. The move was made early in a season. The timing of those moves always concerns me about pegula. The sabres (like the bills) needed an overhaul and he didnt have the foresight to do it. The moves definitely seemed reluctant and forced. In the nfl there are a lot more sacrificial lamb possibilities that can be slaughtered before you admit there are real problems that can and should be corrected -
Pegula deserves it. His first priority should have been to throw the windows open and let in the 21st century nfl. Instead he allowed ralphs people to continue to have the wagons circled. To his credit, sullivan pressed pegula on bringing in a consultant at the very first pc. Its only fitting the bills employ a defense that peaked in the mid 80s And the "one year schtick" laid out by pegula is insulting

Did he just "throw in the towel"?

It seems every piece of news seems to seep out of this "organization". -
if the team was actually successful, they would have to cap season tickets, have a never-ending waiting list, and be able to nudge the prices up and up... whether its Brandon in that role or a monkey in a chair

Joe Banner as a "Football Czar" what do you think
May Day 10 replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you overall.... the problem is, there is nobody currently at OBD who could or should be trusted in choosing said GM. The possible function of the consultant would be to lay out the framework and interview/hire a GM. This was the right move and a better organization beat Pegula to it. http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/article-7/Ron-WolfCharley-Casserly-10-Things-to-Know/e816286a-6cf6-4035-ab42-f9a6aa36119f -
I dont even want them to think about head coaches until the front office and football program is ironed out

The Browns 2014 was really a Bills 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018.... and so on.... -

I thought the score was extremely misleading. They got a hole stomped through them on both sides of the ball. Offense and Defense, it wasnt even in the same league. The scoop and score, and broken play to Salas TD were lucky. Goodwin TD was a nice go for it play. The other TD was a BS drive against a prevent defense with nothing on the line. Meanwhile, the Jets just moved the ball nearly every single time and executing nearly every play.

the $1,000,000 question is how did this come about? Pegula? Brandon? Whaley? or Rex?
