  1. Lol. What terrorists tailgate before their attacks? Do they fly an isis flag on their rv? Donning an explosives jacket like most put on a bills Jersey? "There they are!"
  2. why in the World would New York not be near the bottom of the list?
  3. From the rumblings the past few days.... it is pretty out in the open that the Pegulas are actively researching and studying the options. Just seemed more concrete than in the past. I do like how Pegula seems to recognize that the Buffalo market is not Atlanta or San Fran (or even Minneapolis). I do think we are a unique situation and that needs to be taken into account. We dont have as much high-end clientele of a lot of other places and our fans will probably be more interested in the game atmosphere as opposed to cigar lounges and such.
  4. I get that... but it just seems like nobody there has much to offer. Most have checked out and self admittedly in schopp and bulldog's case cant even be bothered to watch or follow much sports. I blame it in large part to the program directors. Some mlb talk wouldnt hurt, nor would any number of different sports that arent bills and sabres. The nba talk recently was so refreshing and got me into it a bit. They seem to only focus outside the bills and sabres if there is a monster event or happening though. This is a big week or 2 for the sabres... but they will beat it too far into the ground. Only so much can he said... after july 1, they will begin non stop talk about tyrod and gilmore's contracts.... throw in a couple shows on ryan's job stability.... zzzzzzz. Ive been tuning in more and more to cbs sports radio. I think one of the great things about empire, and even wnsa is they would cover way more than bills and sabres. You would look forward to sabres and bills talk and it wasnt beaten to death. It is also magnified in a miserable stretch for both teams. They both could be given some time to air out
  5. Wgr's hosts do not offer a lot of in depth analysis. Its a lot of "topic of the day", ill take one side, you take the other, lets take callers. Its lazy and uninteresting for the most part. It is driven by management though. A lot of the staff seems too comfortable and goes through the motions. I expect the new incarnations of hockey hotline and the murphy show to offer much more in depth analysis, interviews, etc. We wont get anything critical of the teams, but imo thats not a necessity
  6. well, here we go. MSG WNY is a go http://sabres.buffalonews.com/2016/06/20/wide-ranging-deal-will-keep-sabres-and-other-pegula-sports-entertainment-content-on-msg/
  7. Good news. Online poker needs to happen.
  8. Yeah, his PbP is strange. He is very well spoken has the voice for it, raises excitement at the right times, etc.... But as far as painting the play, the listener is left clueless too much of the time. Van Miller was so good because he painted the picture each play. Down, distance, where the wind was blowing, how the crowd sounded, QB in the shotgun, what side of the field they are on, pass comes out to who and what distance, etc. He would get it all in there and bring the listener into the game. Of course Van is a legend, but Murphy seems to leave too much to mystery. Tough to track down and distance all the time. He will say "pass complete to ______ near the sideline" and proceed to describe the rest of the play but you have no idea how far the pass went. Things like that.
  9. It seems like there is a lot of movement towards the growth of Pegula Sports/Entertainment. IMO they are going to be rolling out a deal for MSG WNY sometime in the next year. I think the Murphy show will be telecast/simulcast. To me, I think Murphy does a heck of a job. Yes, he is an employee and usually tows the company line. He does it in a very professional manner and that show is put together really well. He touches on the entire league and does it well. Also has very intelligent monologue/dialogue about the Bills/team. I think he also runs a very good interview. The rest of WGR is so cynical for the most part. Host A takes this point of view, Host B takes the other point of view.... let's take callers and beat the topic into the ground and repeat tomorrow. A "state radio" program is actually refreshing to me. Im not a big fan of Sal either. He takes his opinion (which is almost always in favor of the team) and yells about it into the mic and gives listeners headaches. edit: well there we go http://www.diebytheblade.com/2016/6/15/11943104/are-pegulas-hiring-for-western-new-york-regional-sports-network
  10. Sounds like the found him 'intact' too, which I would imagine is somewhat big deal for his parents.
  11. http://talkintv.buffalonews.com/2016/06/14/romes-show-headed-1520-will-north-grad-wins-tony-award/ For me, this is good news. I dont really listen to the radio at all post 7PM.
  12. It is. I can see it possible out in wheatfield or something... but then you ask: why?. In the city of niagara falls there is a silly idea. Due to the unchangeable geography, game day traffic would be gridlock and would cost several hundreds of millions of dollars before you even break ground on a stadium. Then factor in the fact that you cant build a hot dog stand up there without corrupt government obstruction. I dont see why anyone would even begin to go down that path. Plus, erie county wouldnt allow the bills to even begin planning this until 2023.
  13. lol @ "on notice"
  14. this has been discussed a lot and argued. I think all angles have a lot of merit (except for the silly Niagara Falls idea) 1. I think that they would prefer it downtown. Would the costs of the property and infrastructure be too burdonsome than it would adjacent to RWS? 2. If there is a Reno, I think they would have to tier it over a few years. It isn't feasible for the team to play elsewhere. Syracuse and Toronto would be the only options. 3. Retractable roof would be a possibility only with a new stadium. 4. Extensive renovation would be significantly less than a new stadium, especially when factored in infrastructure costs. 5. The State and County would help with a Stadium. Im assuming Pegula would have significant private investment, as would Delaware North. The NFL has their loan program too.
  15. I heard there is some sort of legal/insurance thing that will prevent them from playing here or in the usa
  16. As is, i dont think briles would be a good nfl coach. His game seems too dependent on wide speed disparity between his team and the opponent. You cant really get that kind of advantage in the nfl.
  17. human bodies arent meant to run marathons, throw a baseball, process excess dairy, etc. Football too. who cares
  18. I dont mind it.... and agree with him. But it isnt something you ever hear a high-ranking NFL employee admit publicly.
  19. I heard him say it this morning and though the reception went out or I heard it wrong.
  20. Jerry Crafts! I thought and still think that the thing had potential and had the right management and ownership to possibly make it work. It was very poorly executed though. I watched the first game and I remember it was very poorly packaged. Very boring game with little scoring and it seemed like it took 6 hours. That turned everyone completely off and the league had no chance to get that first impression back.
  21. I didnt hate him really in college (although I would root against Florida as I always do). Dont mind his faith or anything. It was the unreal amount of hype and credit he was getting in the NFL. I was stuck in a perpetual argument with people about how much he really was awful. They would win a game like 11-5 on some 4th quarter circus play and Tebow would go like 3 for 11 and people were trying to heap all the credit on him. They would separate 'wins' from every other piece of data and tell everyone how great Tebow was. I became so entrenched into a position that I actively wanted to see him fail.
  22. Gambling isnt a concern. It is everywhere now. The NFL basically sanctions gambling and is built by it in many forms. What would be a concern is the 24 hour nightlife there and a lot of temptation into trouble
  23. Really.... what reason is there for positivity? We are nearly 20 years past their last playoff win... What 16, 17 years since they even had an appearance. These things keep happening. The front office lays turd after turd. They desperately need someone to captain the ship, have needed it since Butler (and Donahoe even). They dont bring that guy even with a new owner. Instead they just double down with the Ryan brothers and a C130 full of guaranteed money handed out. Bills: We got Shaq Lawson. Fills an immediate need Rumblings: He needs shoulder surgery Bills: he is fine, our doctors said so. We are smarter than everybody. 3 Weeks Later: He needs shoulder surgery I wish I could give them the benefit of the doubt... but when have the earned that?
  24. From what I hear.... I think we gain more from downstate than visa-versa. I dont subscribe that we "support" NYC... but NYC is a rather large political vacuum for State Politics. I think a better/more productive plan to try first is the whole streamlining Erie (and Niagara) County thing. Scrap all the redundant layers and build it more aerodynamic from the top down. I'm intrigued by the whole secede from NYS thing... but we would need an economic driver. I would love it if we legalized weed (with state tax) as well as casinos and prostitution in Niagara Falls. Maybe with streamlined government and new revenues (and more if/when the Canadian Dollar rebounds) we can be a pretty sustainable/viable state. With lower taxes, perhaps we can land/grow some whales as far as fortune 100-500 companies go.
